I live in texas and miss hometown buffet. I liked fried chicken, meatloaf was favorite and mashed potatoes with turkey gravy. I don't recall much pot roast or stuffing. I enjoyed the carving. Awww memories.
One time my boyfriend I got Stoned AF(smoked marijuana)and then went to a hometown buffet to Pig out and lucky us the hometown buffet was having a corporate visit !everything was fresh! everything was immaculately clean! everybody was happy to be at the buffet! and so was I :)!!!!

Leg, wing, thigh, rib and keel. Now it's leg, wing, thigh and breast. Today the big meaty boneless part of the "breast" piece is actually half the keel. I remember we had a 10 piece bucket that came with 2 legs, 2 wings, 2 thighs, 2 ribs, 1 keel and the customer's choice of a leg or wing as the last piece. Customers would get pissed that we wouldn't give them 2 keels but it was soooo expensive to do that since it was a huge chunk of mostly boneless white meat and only 1 came with each bird. Now I think they serve the buckets in multiples of 8 pieces to make a complete bird.
My husband and I love Hometown Buffet. We go to the one in Torrance, Ca. Everything was good especially the Fried Chicken. They also have bery good Bread Pudding. Great video Derek!🌴🌴👣👣🌊🌊🏄♂️🌊🌊😊🙋♀️
Hey Derek, if you haven't already had it, I recommend the Chicken and Waffles at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. I have never been able to finish all the chicken, but seeing the way you can pack it away I don't think you should have any problem. Way better than Roscoe's IMO.

Into my third spoonful of bread pudding, I pulled out a loooong piece of hair from the bread pudding. I was so disgusted I got up walked towards the manager face fed and said there is a long piece of hair! Without a word he reached inside his pocket and pulled out two free vouchers. With the biggest smile I snatched those and said ILL BE BACK with a smile. I’m such a scrub.
Like lot of chain restaurants or buffets I think it depends on location. The Hometown Buffet in my town went out of business for good reasons, and no one that I know of shed any tears! The food was awful and the place was a mess! The food you have Derek, actually looks pretty good. Maybe they did things right in Burbank. Are any still in business four years later?
I went to Hometown Buffet last week and I agree that the stuffing tastes weird and the best things they have are the chicken, meat loaf and the Mexican food.

Isn't Burbank where a lot of game shows and soap operas are filmed? Maybe you will capture a picture of a celebrity getting a double scoop of that banana pudding. Aloha!

If you are still in the Southern California area, I would have to recommend the Vegas Seafood Buffet in Glendale. It's is located by the Glendale Galleria. They have a variety food from different countries but most of the food has a Asian background. They have the usual chow mein, sushi, burger sliders, and even Brazilian BBQ. Use to have a hometown buffet but would be heading to a favorite Chinese buffet half mile past it. So I never tried it then it closed down permanently.
Reading the most recent Yelp reviews, the quality and cleanliness of this HomeTown Buffet has seriously dropped. I went here a few years ago and the food was good. However, from the reviews, I would not return until they clean up their act and improve the quality. EDIT: on March 7, 2016, HomeTown's parent company Ovation Brands filed for bankruptcy for the third time in 8 years. They closed many restaurants, including Anaheim the one I went to the most.

Show us the whole buffet. Take your camera and walk around the whole thing. You only show about 10% of the place. 90% is just what you put on your plate.
You probably didn't know it at the time, but you were recording history. Which in turn will lead to nostalgic memories for many years to come.
