It's right upon us and things are going to start picking up. I want to squeeze in multiple Tahoe fishing days before Summer gets into full swing. Fishing there this Winter left a bad taste in my mouth!
Right on. I'm going to try to hit it several times before it gets real hot this Summer and the area is overrun with people. The fishing will heat up soon.
I’ve been bailing some 24-26” macks the past two weekends in my kayak. Got to get pretty far off shore though. Tried some trolling for rainbows in shallower stuff but no luck (not that I know how to get the rainbows any other year). Love the content Amani!
Right on. As the water warms up there will be a sweet spot in the upcoming weeks where those big rainbows will be gorging themselves on minnows and crawdads in the boulders once those food sources start showing up in mass. I have a few clips on my Tahoe shore fishing playlist where I cut big rainbows open and their stomachs are bursting at the seems with crawdads. When those big rainbows start showing up in numbers to fee, we must be there to greet them!
Remember the lake was unusually cold this year, I think the spring behavior will be a bit later this year. But they still eat and you can land them you can eat them. And small and tasty trout is far better than Skunkage!
That fish was delicious. I agree with you. Winter is finally starting to give way but it was still in the 20's at night in the mountains just a week ago. The lakes seem to still be fishing like it is mid Winter but I suspect that is going to change real soon. The rivers are going to be raging for a while.
It was a good snack! Ate it right out out of the pan! This spot had a great flat rock for napping it out in the sun. Probably going right back there for round two.
Well this scouting expedition did work, you caught that fatty in the later video, I think the water is staying colder a little longer this year so the bait fish are not near the surface yet, ok few more to go.
Yeah, it's still fishing like Winter but it should warm up fast, There is a lot of snow melt pouring in though so that might keep the fishing good well into Summer.
No. When I'm bait fishing one of the primary reason is to keep fish to eat. I was fine eating that fish. If I'm going straight catch and release like I do in rivers or often in the backcountry I lust go single/barbless.

yeah it sucks i just got back into fishing this month, haven't been able to catch a single thing in the reno area.
I have been getting some fish but it's a struggle. I'm hoping fishing picks up real soon. It has to!
