Last episode Zac got a huge g47 Garrett turbo for Waylon, his work-in-progress AWD no-prep drag OBS Tahoe. Now we're unboxing the new Texas Speed Titan Intake manifold for the 7.3L Ford Godzilla. We also get a breakdown on the 1900hp capable Tick Performance billet water to air intercooler. And fabrication wizard Johnny Branch comes through to weld up custom turbo headers for this wild application.

This must be the only build you're watching then, From the turbo angle to the header size, Its not built to spec. Real good advice here, Wonder why this guy doesn't have his own channel. Oh wait, Because he's an idiot real car culture won't support
That turbo is very likely to push a oil into the compressor housing mounted at that angle
Yea I was about to say the same thing.. always a rule of mounting a turbo is to have the shaft parallel to the ground. Maybe it matters more with thrust bearing units.. ball bearing might be more flexible.
Might be an oil less turbo. Comp turbo has oil less turbos

I definitely understand the tumultuous time Hoonigan has had over the past 6 months. Hoonigan is a business at the end of the day, but part of me is still so disappointed Hoonigan never really acknowledged the talent they had to say goodbye to. Without knowing anything more, Suppy and Grimm deserved more than a thankless goodbye for the absolutely insane projects they put together in the past few years.
I wondered what happened to them, they were legit the fab fathers of hoonigan and everyone else has huge shoes to fill after the fact... I miss suppy and grim big time

Watching fabricators do custom exhausts always amazes me!
Shoulda had the turbo centrally positioned and ran two smaller deeper radiators either side of it. A equal length header design would make it a more revy boi.
It wont care.
That header design won't hold that setup back in any way.
makes me wonder about turbo support it's really big n heavy unit to hang from thin walled headers. Also oil feel/drain might cause issues with that much angle, I've seen promod turbo's mounted pretty tilted like on Tom Bailey's car but still a risk on blowing oil seals. Time will tell though.
I've been kicking around an idea about a heat exchanger set up that works better than just dumping in ice for a drag and drive truck. If you use 50/50 coolant in the heat exchanger system it can be a liquid at -35F. You could in theory put jugs of coolant in a freezer and pour them in as a liquid vs ice which won't flow just cools the water down from ambient temps but never goes through the system colder than 32F.
I've seen setups that run an ac evaporator in the tank or... you buy a small deep freezer and an inverter. Have a few jugs of 50/50 in the freezer at all times. The heat exchanger tank should have a drain hose on the tank, drain the warm mix into empty jugs to go in the freezer and put the cold ones in before you make a pass. Take the freezer out (find a place to plug it in) with all your tools, tires and spare parts.
If you built a sick ass drag and drive trailer with solar and batteries the freezer could just live in that all day. You could have an air compressor too.
Hope u don't have oil return issues with the turbo placed like that and no wastegate priority before the turbo there is probably gonna be boost creep issues also
Tie rod adjusting sleeves should be installed with the open side facing down to let dirt, water or anything else fall out.
The slot moves when you adjust it.

Are you building a support for that turbo 54lb turbo? I fear it might crack the exhaust with its weight and vibrations.
It might be overkill or it could be preventative.
Ebay motors is so legit. I love having my garage, and just randomly buying too many parts for my junk from my back porch. I live in the woods so this is heaven for a carcaine addict! Zac , is "powder coating" the turbo tubing same as ceramic coating on headers ?? (exhaust manifolds) Ceramic headers lowered under hood temps like night & day.
Need to brace that turbo? or the exhaust pipe enough to support all that weight?

ALSO @Hoonigan do you guys have any ICE Engine Blocks laying around? Tuerck used them for the V10 Supra headers. They’re a lifesaver when fabbing custom headers and any other tubing. Takes all the clearance guess work out of the equation

I’d be getting a T6 to v-band adapter and tell Garrett you need same hot side A/R, but with 3” v-band connection…
That way you can clock that turbo better. Going to be nothing but problems on an angle like that… 👍🤘👍🤘

Can the oil feed and drain deal with that angle the turbo is on?
Is there a short runner version of said intake? So with an intercooler, would still clear the hood? Zac shouldn't use it. Go big Zach. But does a short intake exist?
