Scams were never designed to work on the intelligent, they're always targetted at those with limited understanding of the given topic. For instance, phone scams almost exclusively target the elderly because they know that older people are generally poor with modern technology. Same with game scammers targetting children because they're aware that kids are gullible and don't comprehend risk-taking/consequences.

I would love to have justice brought to them via bans if there was a way to get in contact with someone who could relay to jagex.

There's a term specifically to label the kind of behaviour you're describing - it's called "gaslighting": someone that is knowingly doing wrong onto the victim also causes the victim to feel like it's their fault for interpreting it that way, instead of seeing the reality for what it is. A very common example of this is domestic abuse; one partner can be physically beaten on a regular basis and somehow the attacker will convince the victim that they deserve it, or that they could have avoided it if they handled the situation better. This is just that, the scammer is convincing the victim that they are in the wrong for not blindly trusting them, until the betrayal and the victim finds out they were right all along. It's disgusting, and those kind of people make the world a miserable place.
As a child who played this game and been victimized by scammers. RuneScape really taught me a lot of the real world for the better. I know whenever there’s a scam going on irl just from video game experience. Thank u RuneScape lmaoooo

I actually ran into these scammers before, I realized what it was when they wanted me to trade over something to prove I was genuine. I caught them grabbing someone at the ge, and followed them and broke up their next one. Glad I was able to save at least one person, but it's disheartening to see that they're still at it.
Finally someone made a video about these guys. I came across these exact scammers early on in my osrs journey. I also experimented to see how far they would go. I have a few things id like to clarify. Marcus and marvin are the same person. Whoever it is uses an automatic voice changer, and also has pre recorded responses so that way he can make it appear as if there are 2 of them. They do this mainly to try and make you feel more secure, because having 2 near max accounts telling you it's legit is way more comforting than 1. Before I continue I should clarify I had them both in a discord call for over 3 hours. 2, they both carry massive stacks of trimmed obby capes to allure you into the fact they they somehow have this mass ammount of money. So it feels like they could gift you a tbow if they wanted. 3 they will attempt to link you to puggers youtube channel and try to tell you that they haven't posted in a while because they focus on streaming. 4 if you drag things on for long enough they become completely unraveled and unhinged. They'll go as far as prying into your personal life to make you feel a connection with them. The whole goal for them is to establish a certain level of trust, then taking as much as they can from you.5 in after draining you of what they think is all your money they will link you to a fake gold buying website. One that will steal your credit card information and send it to them if imputed. These scammers arent what id call small time. This scam is throughouly thought out. That's why he gave you your stuff back. Because he knows that he's commiting fraud in SEVERAL different levels and is hopefully now about to be caught
These two EXACT guys scammed my friend out of 7 mil about 8 months ago. They seriously groomed him for like 3 days for relatively little loot, what a couple of pixel sociopaths. Glad to see them exposed!! Hopefully we don't see them again!

People have been doing this for a long time. Wish Jagex would start doing their own sting operations and banning people like this. Even if it was just one staff member who did it one day a week, the scammers would be much more afraid to try it
it takes half a minute to make a new account, and they are right back to scamming. They can also buy themselves a new account using all their scammed gold.

Bruh this has also been happening at the MLM. Some dude in expensive gear, claiming he's a RUclipsr manipulating people into giving him their D Picks. And they actually pull it off, seen 3 of these go down this week alone, I try to intervene but the victim doesn't wanna listen.
I got scammed out of a rapier cause I thought I was smarter then the scammer and knew it was a scam. They used a newer (to me it was new) method with the Varrock 2nd floor doors. After I got scammed, they wanted to "recruit" me and tried these same vocal points in discord. Essentially doing a trust trade of my bank worth which they said "we need to trust you and you to trust us, so trade your bank worth in a trust trade and we will give it back" my bank worth is mostly in gear and skilling items. After losing rapier, def wasn't about to trade scammers cause I knew I'd never get it again. All on all, just don't interact with scammers unless you really know what you are doing. Keep up the good work on these vids Crumb.
I did fall for the ego scam when it first came out. I felt so stupid after lol. Forgot the basic never accept a trade in pvp world for one split second. Cost me like 70m
I've had this Melvin/Marcus tag team attempt to scam me on two different accounts in the past. As soon as you make it clear that the conversation is being recorded they'll backflip every time.

Oh my. In my noob days, this very scammer tried to take me for my bank. I have to say, it was one of the creepiest experiences I have ever had. He is so totally manipulative. Crumb, if you're seeing this. He does this scam on RS3, too.
Had some dude try to make me use wilderness crabs teleport with all my gear on saying it was "teleother spell". Easiest 32k i got.

People have been doing this for a long time. Wish Jagex would start doing their own sting operations and banning people like this. Even if it was just one staff member who did it one day a week, the scammers would be much more afraid to try it
it takes half a minute to make a new account, and they are right back to scamming. They can also buy themselves a new account using all their scammed gold.

I got scammed out of a rapier cause I thought I was smarter then the scammer and knew it was a scam. They used a newer (to me it was new) method with the Varrock 2nd floor doors. After I got scammed, they wanted to "recruit" me and tried these same vocal points in discord. Essentially doing a trust trade of my bank worth which they said "we need to trust you and you to trust us, so trade your bank worth in a trust trade and we will give it back" my bank worth is mostly in gear and skilling items. After losing rapier, def wasn't about to trade scammers cause I knew I'd never get it again. All on all, just don't interact with scammers unless you really know what you are doing. I've had this Melvin/Marcus tag team attempt to scam me on two different accounts in the past. As soon as you make it clear that the conversation is being recorded they'll backflip every time.
