Nah, I honestly really think EXO doesn't have bad song when it comes to production. None of their discography can be considered as trash or second-thought production.
Most of their songs is something I wish exist in western industry but I know wont ever happen.
It's just the matter of whether if it fits ones taste. I have many of their songs that doesn't fit my taste. But I can't deny how good their music is.
FUN FACT ABOUT ‘BEEN THROUGH’: It was going to be released this year (2018) along with their next comeback, but they couldn’t wait to release it because they thought it was too good for them to wait, so it got released last Dec instead ✌🏻

If you watch the live stage of El Dorado, you'll understand why it's voted #1. The stage makes the song. The dancing, the props, the lighting. You said it's grandiose, that's because it is. El Dorado is one of the songs in their predebut teasers. It's old af.
If you know EXO's lore, from predebut to now, El Dorado will make more sense. EXO's lore is deep, tied with real people and astronomical events. Predebut teasers, to MVs, to concert VCRs. The team behind EXO's concept goes pretty deep.

Honestly these suggestions don't do justice to how diverse EXO's discography is. They can quickly go from EDM tracks to r&b to modern pop to soft ballads to more rap heavy to techno, etc. etc. etc. Basically just listen to their entire discography lol, they definitely have a lot of tracks that would better suit your tastes.
EXO has everything for everyone, you're right they have so much variety while some groups tend to only focus on certain genres of music.

Honestly just listen to EXO's entire discography when you have the time because the most popular one's in the fandom are the RnB styled ones but they honestly have a discography with a lot of variety. like they can go from songs like "Drop That" to "Machine" to "My Lady" to "EXODUS" to "Lightsaber" to "The Star" etc.

Of all the discography in kpop, I think that exo has some of the best. They are extremely diverse and I feel that they can be successful in pretty much any genre. Not every song is perfect by any means, but they find ways to make you love them, even if you didn't like it to start. Some more songs that I really love that you didn't listen to is What U Do, Machine, Lights Out, and They Never Know. I know you aren't super keen on r&b, but exo does it really well, and I encourage you to check out more of their stuff.
A song not on this list that you might be interested in is Playboy - it was composed by Jonghyun and if you know his work you can absolutely tell 💕

I feel like he wouldn't like Playboy much though, since Playboy is VERY R&B heavy. I wouldn't want him to listen to it and have him pretend to like it when he obviously doesnt just bc of recent events, I would want him to enjoy Jonghyun's music and style for what it is, which is extremely good, distinctive, and unique R&B.
Jonghyuns style in general is extremely RnB influenced, which is why he's been my ultimate bias for 6 years (since R&B is my absolute favorite genre of music) and why I wrote a fucking essay about him and about SHINee over last summer lmao
My music tastes generally dont really match up with Form of Therapy's, which is why I usually dont watch his videos lol (Ik hes really into Seventeen but I just dont really like their music.. Also, White Noise is one of my fav EXO songs, as well as all their slower R&B tracks like What If, Cloud 9, Beautiful, etc. and I have a feeling he wouldnt like any of those songs haha) and the fact that Form of Therapy isnt really into that makes me sad lol

Honestly, EXO's anthem based songs like Forever, El Dorado, Transformer, Black Pearl are really good title track worthy songs. Arguably these songs showcase EXO's diversed discography and how they are able to incorporate multiple style into 1 song. Genius.

thunder makes sense if you listen to the lyrics. it's saying that they're chasing someone but they're too late as thunder always comes after lightning, and the lightning symbolizes the girl.
This is more of a slow song reaction of exo. I feel like a part 2 is necessary to see other colors of exo to see the funky/badass etc.

A diving deeper into NCT 127 would be so cool, I recommend: Whiplash, Baby Don't Like It, Mad City, Summer 127 and Running 2 U (Back 2 U, 0 Mile, Angel, Heartbreaker and Another World are also really good songs like every NCT song in fact Wake Up, Sun&Moon...)
Or a diving deeper into NCT Dream, cause even if the title track are super young/boyish and a bit childish tgey have amazing B-sides tracks like: Dunk Shot, Trigger The Fever or La La Love (I love Walk You Home and My Page a lot too)

When you go into EXO's discography there are some songs you should definitely have a listen to: Lights Out, Fall, Going Crazy, Touch It, Chill, Run This, Artificial Love, One And Only, Transformer, Exodus, Playboy (Jonghyun composed it) and Heart Attack (since you've already listened to Sweet Lies, Been Through and Forever). If you ever listen to CBX then have a listen to The One (full version), King And Queen and Girl Problems. Also Lay has some incredible songs that are worth checking out: Monodrama, Peach, Hand and Boss.

If you loved Forever please listen to their whole 'The War' album, it's full of hype songs (and it's their best album imo). Better yet if you manage to listen to most of their discography because like a comment here already said most of the fandom's favorites are their RnB songs because that's what we think they do best but they have A LOT of styles, EXACT is an album specially full of interesting styles.

the reason i love exo is that all their songs are different and they dabble w new sounds. every album they give us something new and that’s y they’ll always be my bias group. and i can’t forget about their superior vocal line.
Now that I think about it, I think these songs (while being some of their best songs) are actually some of exo's best live performances... white noise? fucking beautiful. forever? the coolest ever. el dorado? bloody iconic.
please do a part 2! exo’s discography is too amazing to not be listened more
