@@Jackmitchhell in no order..Bill Bruford..Simon Phillips….Christian Vander….Carl Palmer….Jack DeJohnette……Billy Cobham…..Narada Michael Walden…Phil Collins….Neil Peart….Buddy Rich….Gene Krupa….Curt Cress….Stewart Copeland…..Terry Bozzio…..Chester Thompson….Micheal Giles….Cozy Powell….Vinnie Colaiuta and the list goes on before Jimmy Chamberlin even gets a chance to pop his head up….there is a reason he is not in the top of the best drummers list…..he is nowhere near it…not even in the same ballpark or state…hate to burst your bubble….among these men he would be considered mediocre….to be honest…with all the Jazz…Progressive drummers out there and that have come and gone….50 would be generous for him….he is standing at the back of a very long list of drummers possibly hundreds….he’s just mediocre.
The consistency of those rolls man. I asked him about playing Jellybelly and he said he doesn't play like that anymore, which is fine and I can respect that, but he clearly can do that and more, so I wonder what he has against the song.
I agree, unless the phaser is also a part of the actual song and is added to the drums for thematic consistency, there's no reason to mask this guy's chops with an effect.
