The one off cards are really kind of weird. When I did my box opening video, that was first I had ever seen of Sattler's deck. I was really surprised by those cards. I think they are there to, get in more movie quotes, get in more artwork, and to play off of Malcolm's chaos theory. But I'm not sure what I think of it. A lot of unique cards are part of sets (Bruce's Jeets, Sinbad's voyages and to a lesser extent Alice's attacks) and so they are really that random. The effects are different, but overall a Jeet is a Jeet and a Voyage a Voyage, there's just bit more situational utility on some more than others. But Malcolm is wandering into Deadpool territory with his cards. It's just a really odd design choice.
I think the Malcolm cards are a case of Thematic not necessarily meaning Good. He is always talking about Chaos Theory, and so while the card effects aren’t necessarily chaotic, the fact that they’re mostly single copies adds an unreliable element to the deck. Now, an Unreliable Deck is one of the Big Things that makes a character bad in this game, so that of course makes problems. Of course we would love 4 copies of life finds a way instead, but that’s too Reliable for Malcolm haha. I honestly don’t mind the weird Malcolm cards. It makes what I view as a powerhouse deck a little less reliable, and that’s not the worst thing, in my eyes. Sattler is still very strong feeling to me.
The rules are confusing regarding Sattler's insight tokens. It says you can place it when you maneuver to a spot or are moved due to an effect, whether it is yours or the opponets. Then two lines later it's like you can't put a token down if you were placed. In what situation can you not put a token down?
Hi Adam, "Move" and "Place" are two different keyword that are everso slightly different In this case only effects that specifically say MOVE will trigger insight placement, PLACE effects will not (Maneuvering counts as moving) Let me know if you need further clarification or examples
I really like Dr. Sattler! A lot of interesting cards that you need to time right. And it can be a challenge to play against her which I like. Pinning her after she used her insight can be super effective though hard to pull off.
After talking with Freak, I think the way to think about Sattler is a 'push and pull' hero; I'm not sure that answers how she 'comes together' but I think that you have to decide early on how you are playing the match up based on the opposing fighter. She's got a lot of tools in her kit, but you have to decide early how you're going to use the tokens and stick to it. For example, if attacking is not your win condition (which sometimes it isn't) then I Think We're In Business is a defense, and maybe you (blasphemous I know) boost with one of your illusions. You simply won't (most likely) get everything off for Woman Inherits the Earth and Illusion so you have to make that decision early, early on.
@@BakedGoods Cool! Yeah, true the raptors was the strategy guide too, yeah this format makes sense to not have it edited👍. Good to see you win vs zero yesterday!💪
I think Elektra is overall stronger just because of her resurrection combo potential and her annoying sidekick body blockers, along with potentially using every card 4 times. Sattler does have a few powerful cards of her own but like I say towards the end of this video I personally had trouble seeing how it all fit together.
For "Sexism in survival situations", the sidekick you need to watch out for is wukong's clones. He never needs attack you with his hero, he can just use clones.
🤔 It's honestly a toss up, they are both great. I suppose I will go with the OG set just because the Raptors are what hooked me into the game! btw do you watch Parks and Rec?
Seems like the scheme may be a (albeit telegraphed and therefore feint prone) set up for I Think We're Back in Business. End turn with 7 cards. Opponent attacks once, Sattler defends with Woman Inherits the Earth/Regroup. Start turn with 7 cards, play scheme to get up to 8 cards. Maneuver to get to 9 cards. Attack opponent for 8. Or instead of maneuvering, you could double attack if possible with a 7 and then a 6.
Sattler is my experience is INSANE against characters without feints. She has beaten the TRex every time, and does really well against Yenanga and Sun Wukong. In those matches a double Maneuver turn gives incredible value, either 4 extra damage or 4 health gained outside of crazy auto damage.
The big problem with this deck I think is just how HARD it gets wrecked by defensive cancels- feints and the equivalents completely neutralize You Never Had the Power and I Think we're back in Business on offense, and they can be predictable because if you see she has 5+ cards in hand or 4+ Insight Tokens, good odds she'll be throwing one of those out, and without those I think her damage output is really weak. She's fun, I want to play some more games with her, specifically against cancel heavy decks (oh no bigfoot) just to see what can be done to work around those.
Nice first impressions, Goods. However i dont like her. Dr. Malcolm seems useless. One copy of his cards and 2 regroups make Sattlers deck 1/5 maneuver booster. Not played yet with them, bcs i am to busy to max the resurrecting potential of Elektra and Scheme running with DD.
I love the fact that you are showing the FACE bro. Let’s goo. I am excited for this. I have this set ordered
🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the support m'Lord
This is a really fun set so I hope you enjoy it!

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Their inclusion felt very odd. Glad it's not just me!
Your First Impressions videos are always fun. Thanks for that :)
Glad you like them! 😄

"Move" and "Place" are two different keyword that are everso slightly different
In this case only effects that specifically say MOVE will trigger insight placement, PLACE effects will not

They clarified that Placing does place an insight token.
woah really?
Where was that? Do you have a link?
I really like Dr. Sattler! A lot of interesting cards that you need to time right. And it can be a challenge to play against her which I like. Pinning her after she used her insight can be super effective though hard to pull off.
Totally agree. Pins can wreck her so she does need to be very careful about that aspect of positioning!

Thank you for the thoughts! I hope some Sattler mains emerge from the woodwork so my understanding of this character can grow from watching them play.
I really enjoyed the raptors video where you jumped to the actual movie quotes/scenes
I'll do that for the Strategy Guides, since these videos are made with minimal editing in mind 🙃

I Think We're Back In Business is straight out of Mace Windu's deck from Epic Duels.
For "Sexism in survival situations", the sidekick you need to watch out for is wukong's clones. He never needs attack you with his hero, he can just use clones.
yup yup yup, knew I was forgetting the best example!
Do you prefer this Jurassic Park Set or the older one, I know you like the raptors but I am still curious?

Yes she seems very strong when Illusion hits for 7 every time
Yo great video but your webcam desynced
I love Sattler!
What do you like about her? I'm curious to hear thoughts from 'sattler mains' lol

I think these characters would be way better with a few more schemes.
All of Malcolm's one-offs should be schemes.
Technically Daredevil has the most healing at least in theory
get out

😂
@@BakedGoods Also, if I did my match correctly, Deadpool could technically heal for 38.
@@Poindexter_G 🙃

Coming soon: Unmatched, LGTB fighters
Representation is always nice, and it is Pride Month in the US!
I was joking. That deck remind me of feminism.
If anyone cares, I think that Willow character from the Buffy set is a lesbian.
Why?
LGTB it's actually a trendy. They only make LGTB content for marketing.
