    15 years ago today. I always have to watch this on the anniversary. I am the bassist. I love reading the comments, they crack me up. Definitely one of the funnest moments of my life rocking like this in front of my high school only 9 months after picking up the bass.

      "What are fills? Do I need them?" I can imagine you've come a long way. I've been playing bass for about 2 years now. I know the struggle. I picked this song at about the 6 month mark and getting the fills right was so difficult because I simply didn't have the strength built to play the way Cliff did.

      +Ryan O'Toole I know, right!? Having Joel on the didg was a last-minute impulse. We were literally about to go on stage and we invited him to didge along with the intro because we thought it would nicely simulate the "wind" sound effects that can be heard in the original Metallica recording. To this day we are so glad he was there didging and dancing! Cheers.

    I was at this performance, and it sounded far better live! We were all high school kids. They were talented beyond their years. Alas, the late 90's-early 2000's did not offer the best recording devices to capture live performances in their highest quality.

Please submit your guitar proficiency videos of you at 15 and I'll make sure to critique every aspect of your performance.

  • @numba55QBthebest
    @numba55QBthebest 13 лет назад

    @rabarbaley the amps are usually turned away towards the guitarists because the vibration from them well affect how the guitar plays and usuall if its done right it will give an extra distortion sound that mettalica fans love.

    This was a year before I was born and I’m only seeing it today. Great performance. If you still read these comments, I have to ask if Metallica was listened to, even at all, by kids back then. Today you’ll never find good music like this generally listened to by people my age.

    • @linkswanson
      @linkswanson 2 года назад +1

      Very cool to hear this comment from someone who is 20 years old today. It was probably more likely that kids would listen to Metallica in the year 2000 when we played this talent show in our high school, but you are correct, it was still rare even then (Limp Bizkit and Incubus were the popular heavy bands of the time). Good music never stops being good though, no matter how unpopular or out-of-style it might become. Glad you asked this interesting question, Joshua B!
