What an incredibly detailed and informative video. I've watched a few vids on pen chance and damage mitigation already and this was still quite informative and finally answered the question on how ricochets work too! Great work, Giga!
I downloaded Outplayed after seeing it advertised on an older GB vid, and I can confirm its awesome! You can slow down each death to see how you wiffed all your shots!
Got 1 tapped, head top top of the head by sb193, while wearing level 4 ulach, went on the ammo pen site to see that it was a 28% chance lol glad you brought this vid out
Ah another fantastic video Giga thanks once again. Also I had almost forgotten about our old friend Vox_E I hope he's doing alright. His and your videos got me through my first real wipe.
You should do a video testing how bullet pen and damage is reduced when passing through arms into the torso. I cant tell you how many times i have put a round that should one tap a player in the chest hit his arm and not continue into his chest.
Can we just talk about how well made these videos are? Aside from also being super informative, just adding little pencil sounds to the graph is such a small detail but adds quality!
Any actuality using Outplayed? Is it any good with Tarkov? I tried it but was having performance issues on a decent - don’t know if it was the game was having server issues.
I think more aramid armors other than level 2 would be a good addition. Lvl 4 aramid armors would be what the majority of people would run due to the so low destructibility.
Any thoughts on how enchantments work. Some are -20% damage, does that count for direct damage only, or includes blunt. How about the enchantment working before or after armour damage reduction?
Could they not make lower tier ammo much more viable by flipping the armour damage? ie: low pen ammo does more armour damage, therefore low pen ammo becomes viable by reducing the armour to zero slightly quicker. At mo, high pen ammo does both a better chance of penetrating and thus does damage, and also ruins the armour, giving even less reasons to use high damage/low pen ammo. More blunt damage though, I suppose.
What would be a practical rule of thumb percentage of max durability at which point someone should replace the damaged armor with a fresh one (assuming they have a spare waiting to go)?
I feel with Class 5 you can be a little bit more relaxed, probably down to 70% or so but have to remember that makes it class 4.5 or something. Class 4 really starts to get penned by everything PMCs use as even a small drop will make it susceptible to 34+ pen rounds
I know you don't mean to miss inform us but, please be mind full that Veritas's battle buddy is not 100% accurate. In Pogcast 137 or 138 he spoke about how he has not updated it and that the code currently used is incorrect. It may lead to improper values. Otherwise love the video.
the blunt damage description in the wiki IS outdated; last wipe, or before, when they buffed blunt damaged, I got killed by a raider by 4 shots in the thorax with 5.45 BP through a killa armor... and I'm always surprised when other youtubers make videos about ammo and never take blunt damage into account.
Is there a chance for you to make videos where you test different calibers and ammunitions against different armors ? Kind of like Vox_E did back in the day. He made videos like that, but I don't think he wants to remake those videos. He had to do it in online raids, but now we have offline co-op. So it should be 10x easier to test.
Perhaps, what outcome are you looking for? Blunt throughput is one of the trickier stats, most of the rest is just a case of effective durability really
@@Gigabeef I am looking for solid results on how many shots it takes to kill a certain armor tier with a certain ammo. It has no meaning for me prsonally to see that an ammo has 60%chance to pen on paper. I want to know how many shots it can take to kill an armor with all the factors counted in. This format could be especially good for demonstrating to newer players the armor penetration, blunt damage and armor zeroing nechanics of tarkov. Sometimes it's better to say oh ok an m855 will 4-5 tap this commonly used level 4 rig on thorax.
@@Gigabeef Also as far as I know, Battle buddy doesn't have any way of testing this, they only have pen chances of armors, and an unarmored kill test. I also don't trust it as it had problems with showing 1-1 in game results. 45RIP would 2 tap and 45 9mm would 3 tap legs before this wipe when I tested. In reality 45 4 taps and 9mm 5 taps. legs. It's better to just see it in the game itself than a mobile app.
The seems to be the go-to video and yet I don't have a clue about the answers I came here looking. How much durability points is enough? I've been told that a class 4 armor should be used up to 40 points. Less than that is bad. Why? And what about class 5 and 6? I've seen streamers using class 6 with 26 durability. What gives??
What matters is the % of remaining armor durability vs the original total, not really the fixed numbers. At roughly half dura, an armor acts like the class below - useful rule of thumb. Of course once its at half, the durability is probably pretty low now overall so will go to zero fast when shot at
@@Gigabeef thanks for the answer, but I still have no idea. I'll have to go into a coop raid with a friend and test it with several classes armors and durability to see what can still be effective.
Is it possible that this overly complicated system and other complicated systems like it are responsible for this games chronic instabilities and issues?
isn't repaired armor back at '100% efficiency', for the price of losing more of its new total health (percentage-wise) and being damaged into ineffectiveness more easily? If my 45.2/45.2 UNTAR vest does not protect me like a lv. 3 vest anymore, then what even is life ): No, really, aren't repairs pointless then if it's not a rare piece?
That seems to be changing where precisely the armor covers you, not how the armor itself works. The only change, I'm pretty sure, is that there will be gaps in the armor you can hit instead (like the sides of the Trooper)

can't wait for the day you are added into the game as a Can of GigaBeef
It should take up two slots to represent its giga status as a can of beef.
Gigabeef snackpack - dried and seasoned
Based on his videos, he should have an Info item like “Giga Ballistics”
@@widelecwyczynowy5757 but never salty
Should be Gigabeef's survival guide
You're a really great content creator gigabeef, you really spend a lot of time analyzing all this and I feel that deserves some appreciation.
Much thanks :)

i'm in awe of how concisely and understandably you can tie all these formulae into sentences. would love to see/hear the bloopers though... :P

I started to play tarkov this wipe and your videos really helped me a lot to understand this game! Thank you

I feel like I could use it, but my PC can barely play tarkov as it is. I'm worried it'd be unplayable with anything else running
Your exactly the type of creator I’m looking for, thank you so much!!!
Thanks :)

Gigabeef = Gigachad for these research videos, hands down my fav. tarkov content
I love how literally none of this is presented ingame.
This is so needed. Can't wait to finally be able to understand this. Your vids are the best at breaking these hidden mechanics down.
Damn that’s a whole lotta math being done just to kill me instantly
Ah another fantastic video Giga thanks once again. Also I had almost forgotten about our old friend Vox_E I hope he's doing alright. His and your videos got me through my first real wipe.
a mate just got tarky and is learning, first vid i sent him is this one. thanks again big gig

amazing video, have not seen anyone else touch this important topic, thank you!

Yesss, I've been waiting for this one! Thank you for your thorough research and informative videos Beef!
0:52 for the ad are you saying it's saving these clips to a cloud so we don't have to save them on our storage? If so that's actually pretty awesome.

They wouldn’t cause lvl4 aramid armours don’t exist afaik
aramid is kevlar which irl is only effective against pistol rounds and knives for the most part

My friend tanked 3 headshots with a tc-2001 against .338 UCW. Had to have 2 ricochets
Wonderful informative video! Thank you for showing me Arena: Breakout that game is so fun!
Not as riveting as the condor/eye protection video but big thanks for taking the time. :)
Thank you!!! I swear people thought the pen change is binary yes no. Great stuff, and even a good refresher for me!
I've had a friend wearing class 4 and in the death screen it showed blunt damage as the killer so there's something there
Bro such great brake downs love the videos
gigabeef is one of a kind. he is special.
Just as an aside, I use Outplayed as advertised here. Find it great myself and thanks to Giga for pimping it.

Im listening and paying attention but this is still confusing 😂
Think imma have to re-watch this one a few times 😂
My gf heard me listening to this and said "can you just shoot them in the face and not worry about any of that" 😂😂

This was harder than my maths homework, I'm bamboozled
you could be an university professor for tarkov! nice work!
So how of a large magazine do I need with for my 9x18 ammo?
Excellent video as always. Keep it up!
fucking knew you'd have the video of the exact thing i was wondering about. preciate ya brotha

imo its bs that a headshot that pens a helmet can't kill. there should be a 1.5x damage multiplier on headshots
Very helpful guide dude

You don’t need to put #ad in the title btw, lol. Makes it seem like the entire video is made for the product
Outplayed has some cool tools but it seemed to freeze at some point of recording, making the video unusable

I love your dedication to the game even though it feels like we're on the Titanic and the wet bar just received an unexpected delivery of fresh ice.
headeyes
I still remember dying to 5 M556 shots on the chest while i was wearing an mmac... I think blunt damage is bugged or something isnt working right
What about Fragmentation!? hahahahaha
Very brave of you to make a vid about this as the 'Armour hitbox changes' is apparently the next feature we're getting according to Nikita

Love you man but this video put me to sleep.

first.
What a nerd... I love you
