    Timing is Crucial!
    1. Take a step from the table
    2. Pause and Accelerate
    3. Aligning the ball

    I have been playing table tennis for 14 years, and the advice from this episode still benefits me so much. One thing to look out to is that you should pause in your multiple training as well--lots of time coach has consistent shots, so you are used to that tempo. Some times you should slow down and tell yourself that the balls is yours, take your time.

    Thanks guys. I played your dad at the Maidstone tournament, Dan, and he picked up that I was rushing my shots. That slight pause is something I will definitely be working on. I tend to do it more when I play good players because I am trying too hard.

    • @TableTennisDaily
      @TableTennisDaily  5 лет назад +6

      Hey John, awesome stuff! Hope you enjoyed the Maidstone I miss playing down that way. Yes definitely, when you play a player who is higher than your level its easy to rush your shots and end up forcing. There is a lot more time than you think, and it can be better to slow down your shots and rallying with the opponent.

    Love the video. One of the best things you can do for timing is the Chinese concept of "in pai." Pretend the incoming ball is connected to your paddle with an elastic string and pull the ball towards your racket before beginning your forward stroke.

    I've learnt table tennis without a proper coach and have developed some unusual technique. I play close to the table shots very well as i use my wrist 9/10 times for both forehand and backhand shots. As a result, my wrist has started feeling some pain more often now. I've started practicing using full arm at forehand side but little hesitant that it would likely affect my game. Do you suggest something for this sort of problem?

    what about the first part of the timing? before your stroke...you need to move. the timing of when to move (first), the timing of the backswing (and speed of it), the timing of when to move into foreswing (and speed of it) and the timing of the body torso turning and weight transfer in all of this ^.

    It's all in the footwork guys. These theories are all good when the ball is played at the same pace and position but fail miserably when the ball catches up to you. With correct footwork and always playing the ball in front of you you will create more time and space in a game. Fantastic fitness and fantastic footwork is your way foreward, hence the timing improves.

Use Butterfly 64FX on forehand(Red) and Butterfly 80 on backhand (Black) and you'll have the quickest gun in the world.. But beware, you will sacrifice control so you'll need lots of robot practice. Have fun, oh wait... This is going to be expensive!

    Shouldn't be pulling your bat backwards for a backswing. You should be pulling it down and rotating your hip backward. And Dan, I see you slapping the ball a bit because of it. And without moving anything, but your arm, just draw a line from your backswing through your whole swing...It's not a straight line, as it should be. Your arm should just be going up and down basically. The elbow closing is all that should be happening. Of course, you can angle the wrist down and release it as the elbow closes. But, I'm just talking basics. Anyway, your hips rotating is what should give you power. This is how you can get a lot more spin. Then, you'll be able to hit the ball much lower with a ton more power on it as you get used to swinging like that because the added spin allows you to hit the table with a lot more pace on the ball. And since you're not slapping the ball, it can be hit lower. Slapping tends to hit the ball upwards too much. It's hard to get consistency on slaps too. This is also why you get beat by spins too. You would be able to counter spins a whole lot better if you weren't slapping the ball
