Nuggets came back down 3-1 twice in 2020
Statistically speaking, from a historical standpoint, teams only win 4.6% of series when down 1-3. Which means winning two in a row would be a 0.25% chance.
They had a 99.75% chance of losing one of those 2 series, but won both.
I think they can come back down 1-2.
that’s actually crazy and the roster had to be weaker then as well
@@bottiao No AG. No KCP. It was Garry Harris and Jeremy Grant instead.
@@GTNover bro yeah thats what i was thinking, i think the biggest takeaway from game 3 was everyone playing team ball, and seeing the ball go in after a few good passes really brings the team back
@@bottiao For sure. And Screens. Jokic and AG set phenomenal screens that gave Murray space to work with. And Murray set up those screens much better too, but that may just been because he was healthier.
The last time Denver lost 2 straight playoff games. They went on to win 14 of their next 16 playoff games
Wow
@@HoopVenue suns fans remember, Jokic is turning the lights of to durant, lebrons and currys careers
If u wanna talk about history, No Champion since 2018 has made it back to the Conference Finals, all have been eliminated in the first or second round
Nope, they were right where there are now, 2-2 in the second round vs.the Suns, they went 10-1 the rest of the way.
Well, ladies and Gents.
3-2.
Let’s not forget the 3 days’ rest to Murray’s calf.
That probably was the biggest factor.
Definitely a huge factor!
He had a lot of days after round 1/before first game of WCSF and yet he was still pretty bad in that game.
Game 4, the Wolves decided to play a lot of man to man and try to play help defense. This led right into Jokic's hands. Jokic is a master of diversion. He'll threaten to go to the basket but Aaron Gordon is always there. 27 points from AG tonight. The Nuggets ate despite Ant's best efforts in a 44 point game for him.
This felt like the first game this postseason where the Nuggets played perfect from start to finish. That’s what they need if they have any shot at repeating.
Great analysis. I wonder if the Wolves will counter this in some way.
Glad you enjoyed!
It was the first time. The switch had been flipped and this team seems to be finally dialed in. If it stays that way, it'll be like last year when they got dialed in.
I hope we do, Gotta stop letting Gordon hit those 3s since he making us pay now
They honestly didn’t even play the perfect from start finish this game either but it was definitely one of their better games for sure. Murray struggled quite a bit in the 1st half and MPJ had another absolutely terrible night.
It's crazy how the Nuggets dominated the playoffs last season, then cause they went down 2-0 everyone was talking trash and saying they're done for. They may still lose the series, the Timberwolves are a great team, but to completely flip on them cause of 2 games was crazy. Really shows you the old adage when you're at the top the only place you can go is down. I personally have the Nuggets in 7. Really impressed with how well the Timberwolves are playing. Ant Man broke out like I predicted he would in these playoffs.
Jamal Murray not getting suspended was the worst thing to happen for the T-Wolves. Meanwhile if the Nuggets tie it up it's a brand new series and the Nuggets have the advantage. They are the best clutch time team in the NBA and will get a Game 7 at home.
minnesota fan down to my bones, but the respect goes both ways. the nuggets are an incredible team, and i couldn’t stand the way people kept badmouthing them. i’ve got the wolves in 7, but Denver deserves nothing but respect as a team.
@koolkai4299. Game 1 was a close game bro
they've been in these situations before if they tie this series they can still win
@@garbage1246 I just don't see Denver losing a game 7 at home. That's why I have Denver IF it goes 7. They do deserve respect as a team as do your Wolves. Ant Man is amazing. Your team is playing great ball right now and I could see them representing the West in the Finals. I think whether it's Denver or Minnesota winning the series they will go on to win the West.
Playoff series are decided by adjustments.
Nuggets adjusted, now lets see if the Wolves can.
What I don't get is why NBA coaches need a whole game before making adjustments. Why can't they make adjustments in the same game.
@@gle4178 Idk if its that simple tbh. Being a coach is brutal. Lol.
Twolves should adjust with more zone but nuggets should also know that twolves would adjust with zone and be ready for it.
W comment fr
@@gle4178 That wouldn't fair well for the Wolves to switch to zone.. We would space there big outs with Jokic at the key and our cutters would eat them alive all day
Nuggets eat on zone defenses.
Honestly this just shows how many casual fans are watching rn. Too count out Denver or jokic is crazy to me. Gonna be a fun series.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing ! Everyone and their mother counted out Denver based off first two games and rightly so
@@TLSRUclipswolves in 5

not only casuals on the couch but on TV also.
Jamal was being stubborn instead of passing to Gordon when he was bringing the ball up the court walked right into the trap that’s why joker said trust the pass after the game.
"they have murray, but we have jaden McDaniels" ah game
can never think of a witty comment when I'm early

Everyone on the timberwolves video was writing the Nuggets obituary… they’re quiet now
Really insightful and well-articulated breakdown. First time seeing one of your videos but I'll definitely check out more.
Great analysis! Love your system breakdown!
Excellent breakdown, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Good call. Small changes can make a huge difference.
Awesome breakdown! This should get way more traction, well done
Excellent analysis. You definitely got my attention buddy
Good breakdown!
Got my subscription good breakdown
Great break down - thanks.
Great analysis
Murray had 3 more days of rest and his calf felt better, that was a major factor.
I had no doubt nuggets would win game 3. Mike Malone is too good of a head coach, jokic and Murray are too good of a duo, and there’s a reason they won a chip last year
Absolutely correct, AG and porter Jr have really stepped up.
Now this is good excited to see what both teams are gonna cook up. Let’s go nuggets.
Great video!
Thank you!
Thank you for this! Just a fan with 0 baskeball IQ so I appreciate content like this a lot!
It was because of the edit that Mike Malone made .
What saved their season was Jamal Murray not getting suspended for Game 3. The 3 day layoff allowed Murray to get healthy and for the Nuggets to recuperate both physically and mentally and make the proper adjustments. People prematurely coronated the T-Wolves but never underestimate the heart of a Champion. If the Nuggets win Game 4, they will win the series.
The winner of game 4 has the highest probability of winning the championship. And I don't think it's even that close.
I agree with some of this.... He DEFINITELY should've been suspended!.... Somebody could've slipped on that and it could've been bad!.... The wolves just came out flat!... 💯... It's gonna be a different game tonight!....
Jamal throws up the money sign gesture at the refs the same thing rudy did and got a technical for AND 100k fine but somehow jamal was throwing stuff on the court too and didn’t get suspended ? I get they wanna make it close series
If embiid was not suspended for what he did it would be crazy to assume murray was getting suspended
Just imagine if he had 5 days of rest. Sounds like the non suspension saved the wolves season.
Nice observation on the Nugget's adjustment!!
good analysis
Murray finally got some explosion back. Just enough to keep the hand checking at bay
Your breakdown is way better than Thinking Basketball. Much respect!
Another great breakdown vid!
Simply, Murray was explosive. Injury is healing.
Definitely a factor!
These next games gone be tough Minnesota got depth but Denver always had the iq no matter if they lost Bruce brown they in they prime still 😮💨💯💯
the edit did good from coach malone
amazing analysis ...love from india
Definitely a good adjustment and what also helped was the whistle. Game 2 they let the Wolves be a lot more aggressive. Jaden McDaniels had 3 fouls in the second quarter which made Ant have to guard Murray more possessions than they would have liked. Harder screens and different types of slot cuts and off ball action moved Min. I don’t know why Min stopped trapping the ball screen on Murray. They didn’t at all. Okay. Jokic will pass out of the short roll and make the right reads. Christian Brown and Aaron Gordon are not consistent shooters, let them beat you and close out hard to MPJ and make him put it on the floor. You can’t let Murray get so much space.
Finally came through
Nuggets finally woke up. They been sleep walking through this whole post season. They didnt get beat game 2 they straight up gave up. You can judge their mentality for that and thinking two games aint a big deal but the fact people suddenly thought the monstars stole all their talent is an absurd reaction.
They had over a dozen give up and frustration plays aimed at the refs and not the wolves. Its weak to blame whistles though so make of that what you will.
ANT and KAT look amazing this series though.
we thought the trade deadline stole their talent not the monstars??? do you not remember last time when all those roleplayers were playing out of their minds?
yeah may have given up game 2 but coming back like they did games 3,4 shows their mental toughness
@@user-bp4qq7tt1u don't forget 5 lol

Here We Go!
Garza with an F bomb heard round the world on the bench at 1:10 lol
good coaching staff
What happens if OKC denies or defends that free space at the corners? Nuggets go back to attacking the center ig And Ant not to be less aggressive than the first two games. Oof what a series, so many things need to go right for both teams (duh); very little tolerance for mistakes else it's lights out.
People act like Finch won't make adjustments as well... That's what playoff basketball is about.
thats what im saying loool...
they dont even need to adjust tbf. if they play like game 2 and bench golbert they will win the series.
Ant came out flat and team was step slow. Ball pressure depends on help and wolves...didnt help. Can see from murray full court drives
Absolutely he will! Can't wait for game 4.
Uhm
So how do you defend the empty corner pick and roll? Seems impossible to actually stop since the space is so open.
I'd say 1 of 2 things:
1: Bring the weak side defender over early to sit on the open block. (likely Gobert)
2: Ice the P&R, forcing Jokic to catch the ball in the middle, then you can bring that extra help.
Minnesota has long defensive players. You can’t teach that. They can make this adjustment rather easily tbh.
Lakers fans think they are at the same level with the Wolves 😂
Interesting analysis. What can Wolves do to counter this?
With Gordon and Joker playing Point Forward/Center brining the ball up the court, Jamal has a lot more time, space and speed to catch the ball in motion and go into attack while the defenders are still in scramble mode.
Mevericks and okc please? Love your vídeos
There's nothing like the NBA playoffs where adjustments from game to game actually showcase the coach's skills. Or lack thereof for many teams.
Last night Wolves decided not to double-team Jokic that much. The result is obvious. He destroyed Gobert 1-1
Smart change
Was thinking ab this the entire game
So how would the Wolves counter the empty side PNR? Do you switch? Ice?
This is coaching
I'd say 1 of 2 things:
1: Bring the weak side defender over early to sit on the open block. (likely Gobert)
2: Ice the P&R, forcing Jokic to catch the ball in the middle, then you can bring that extra help.
@@HoopVenue the 2nd one is what helped Denver come back against the clippers in the bubble
listening you speak makes me realise how coaches think
If I had to guess, I think the Wolves are gonna run more zone tonight to try to cover that open corner
agreed we should have ran zone the whole second half but the damage was already done
Zone isn't something you want to run too much against Jokic. It gives up the middle and that's where Jokic is most deadly
@@youngmelo1841 I feel like Finchy and the coaching staff can come up with a zone that will cover the middle well
@@youngmelo1841true but the open 3 by different players is worse
@@actioninmyphannypack Heat's coach is seen as the zone king right now and even he couldn't stop Jokic and the Nuggets with it. Wolves have better defender so I guess we'll see
a team needs to hire for analysis on film lol
Look unbiased proffesional opinion how rare these days...Nuggets in 6
and now the series is 2-2!
Post mavs thunder vid please
Jamal got them hall of fame fade and stop and pop badges lol man is a professional scorer, could probably avg 30 if he really wanted to
coach michael malone is underrated
I also observe that putting ball pressure on Anthony Edwards by Double Teaming him makes him to force turnovers or bad shot selection and not to get his Rhythm
3:57 "everyone's involved". :)
The one adjustment was the refs started calling fouls on the timberwolves.
where do you think the series goes from here, given these adjustments?
I'm really not sure. I think it's safe to say that whoever wins game 4, wins the series (obvious), and I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolves have some nice counters.
Not a good analysis when you forgot to mention the biggest adjustment was just Jamal getting healthier. All those you mentioned are inferior to it.
He was healthy in game 2 too he was just getting fucking clamped and lost his head
@@bilindabutcher8913 not true. He played with the calf injury. He was literally in the injury report. And if you watch the games, he moved quite differently.
@coolguy13578. Current injury report lists Murray as questionable with a calf injury 7.5 hours before tip-off of Game #4. If Murray is healthy, then the player, the team and the NBA are guilty of defrauding the public with false information.
@@LABoyko yeah, he is playing with a calf injury and he looked “healthier” with 3-4 day rest last game
@@bilindabutcher8913 the main diference was jamals burst. its easy to clamp up players that can barely move. theres a reason golbert was voted the most overrated player ever by the players. if murray can run past you my grandma can run past you.
As a wolves fan next game is literally what determines the series for us
badass
“jamal murray isn’t versing the lakers😂” I laugh at all those bafoons, Jamal murray DOES this I been saying this
They won one game. Yall calm down.
Wolves won 2. You calm down.
And I covered the one game... as I did with both Minnesota wins!
3 in a row. How about that?
but it's also because wolves defence was not as aggressive as game 2
Another adjustment they made was to tire them out. If they are going to play aggressive and physical on defensive, you can punish that by making them use their energy and run across the court with playmaking and passes. Ant was sweating so much so early.
Great observation!
Tbh if Murray wasnt throwing up bricks in Game 1 they wouldve won that. He shot horribly in that game, but amazing in game 3
Every team should apply that same strategy. Have 2 guys on 1 side of the court to run a 2 man game and the other 3 guys be on the other side of the court for spacing reasons.
It’s the most ideal way to run offense cause it helps the offensive player read the D & double teams. It seems like common sense to do but too many times teams have players crammed up in the same area of the court wit terrible spacing and coaches make no adjustments to that.
It seems simple but too many teams have the same bad habit of having terrible spacing. Coaches can learn a thing by watching breakdowns like this
Wouldn't a counter for the wolves be to bring help early from the weak side. One defender tags dunker spot the remaining defender plays two since they have three players so close on one side.
I think that will be a likely counter, either that or potentially icing the screen to force a Jokic catch in the middle.
that is gsw defense last 2015-2018, and 2020, and gave them rings.
I'm pretty sure the nuggets' coaching staff watched your previous video.
I dont see how jamal wasn't suspended like Pat.....and why did they have like a week off?? Messed up twolves grove...
Excuses pussy 😂
Game 4 will come down to the wire!
I believe that the twolves have the best chance to take down the defending champs with their defense against the one-two of Jokic and Murray, and the Nuggets dont have their height advantage unlike last year. Shout out to the Nuggets's coaching team for formulating this counter to push 2-2.
i have to assume denver solved the problem of games 1 and 2...and now minn. needs to solve the problem of denver's movement...which they won't. it doesn't seem likely that denver will revert back to their style of play from the beginning of the series.
Yeah the REFS
didnt get a chance to watch the game. why is ant holding his shoulder?
okay im a verified jamal murray hater but that pass 3:27 was kinda crazy
Those Casual fans saying the Nuggets will be swept are either Lakers fans pretending to be Timberwolves fans.
Frogs and grandmas 🎉🎉🎉
3 days rest plus not playing at altitude maybe were big factors for helping the nugs
Let's not forget the Nuggets purified themselves in the waters of Lake Minnetonka.
You'd think coaches at this level would make these adjustments after a quarter or two.
I thought they made this illegal offense? to take away from mj???
when did the rule change?
Minnesota has a problem with defensive rotations, Edwards is a liability here, reading poorly and arriving late many times. Denver is exploiting it very well with these pick&rolls setted to the wings and Jokic rolling into the middle(great passer).
Hold on. Does that mean that attacking the middle is just worst than attacking the corner ?
Im trying to understand what this implies as consequences
Well, that's not a really complex adjustment to make, nuggets has one of the best five men lineup in the history of basketball, they are up there with the 96 bulls 17 warriors 01 lakers and such, it's very logical to let your stars play to their strength, and take care of things like streetball, so as a coach Malone just do things to "clear strong side paths"
Aaron Gordon SUPERSTAR STATUS last 2 games 💯
Those 3 days of rest did Murray well lol
