@Cookie-ep7yz I absolutely agree. In an interview that Kelly Price did, she said that Whitney asked her 'why you are holding back? Just sing like you know you can!' (the song 'Heartbreak Hotel' was the results)! Loved me some Whitney and was blessed to see her in concert live 1987. ❤🙏🏽
Oh Yes! They grew up singing in that church choir like Whitney 💖The Church choir singers always bring the 🏠 house down! Me & the Adult choir always shut down those back in the day Karaoke joints nobody else could beat us no competition, we were blessed with good voices and a very good choir director 😇🙌✨
Most background singer are more talented than the “Star”. Background singers support the act. Like anything else that is a support it MUST be exceptionally strong and solid.

People don't know that most background singers can "BLOW!!!" Whitney, Mariah Carey. Vesta Williams (back up for Chaka Khan. So many other artists started out this way before going solo.
Whitney always admired other women’s voices and let them shine. She cheered for everybody without jealousy. She knew the power to sing is a gift from God and I love her for that. RIP Whitney. Heaven has a great voice in God’s choir. You are missed. 💟💟💟💟💟💟
@homegyrl Yup! I believe he has 3 other sisters. I think they all sing, but I know Olivia and Andrea sang in a group with him called The McClurkin Project!
Whitney's mom & Luther Vandross were 2 of the best backup singers EVER! Cissy Houston backed up Aretha & Elvis/Luther backed up Bowie and other top singers in the Music Biz. Great Talents unto themselves.
@@rkeating9601 Yes, they did. Back then we worked to help each other. I found out recently that Roberta Flack was the reason Luther Vandross & Peabo Bryson got record deals. She taught music & voice also.
They was Jamming! Whitney looked Pleased! Her letting them shine! She was do unselfish ! Donnie McCkurklins sister though whew!!!! My God!! Like Bro llike SISTA!!!!!
I Live for the background singers in every lead singers line up. Thye put in the work just as hard as the lead singer and just like the choir they let is know when its time to sing, reguardless if we can 😂.
@Couture Leotards big old hug to you, 100% correct. Also, for the band, it really is the bass..or should I say the musician who plays the bass - man some lines, my fave song of all, Martha Reeves &the Vandella's HeatWave the groove of that whole song (I know I just jumped from singers, the bass to a whole song, sorry. I just connected the dots. in my head.😉
Afro-american church based singers mastered harmony like no one else's business. I'm always at awe over these singers' sheer vocal prowess. A blessing to the world. I wish to learn and experience this style of vocalisation some day.
The African American church is the breeding ground for musicians of all kinds. Mostly because there was not a lot of instruments. The responsibility to be a strong and sound singer was a MUST!
I love her enthusiasm and encouragement towards them. You don’t see that lot with back up singers and the artist. Talent supporting talent women supporting women. It’s great to see.
Now I NEED to see the full performance...THOSE harmonies! OMG. Whitney was so secure in her ability she was always happy to share the spotlight with others, she always like to help uplift others, bless her.
Whitney put the spotlight on these beautiful dope back up singers🎤🎤🎤🎶🎵🎺🎷🥁 The music was awesome too!🎹🎷🎺🎵🎶 This video is 🔥🔥 My eyes was happy seeing Beautiful Whitney ❤ RIP✝️ 🎉 Miss You ❤️ We definitely need Fellowship 🫂✝️🙏🏾
If you went to a Whitney concert that started with what sounded like horns playing, then turned to scatting, then singing, that was Peanut! (Olivia). She had the most amazing voice I've ever heard to this day. Also, kind, loving and generous. I remember her stopping on her way to open a Whitney concert to testify and encourage an unhoused person. She was just a real good human.
That's how you know a true superstar. When she can lean back and let her background singer get some shine. Whitney will always be my fav. I pray she has found peace in Heaven with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Singers: Alfie Silas, Pattie Howard, Olivia McClurkin! "Fellowship" was originally done by Geary Lanier.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for listing who these lovely ladies are with those beautiful voices!!!!!
Out
I was about to ask if she’s related to Donnie McClurkin, but I looked it up😊
Beautiful voices and pretty ladies 👍💯
@aazed71I wonder how the other ladies are doing?
I only know one song by Allie Silas (from the last dragon) but can’t find it ANYWHERE
I loved the fact that she was a singer who absolutely loved listening to other singers. And let them shine.
Most singers do that in live shows how many concerts u been to
WH is a fake "artist" - she could have helped the backup singers and that she did not, says a lot about her values
Yes singers do that in concerts but Whitney gave props to others who had great voices even when not in concert. She let them shine.❤
Just enjoy the moment

She wasn't threatened by their talent and shared her spotlight. Such a non petty good soul. She will be missed
❤❤❤
Threatened is the wrong word to use in this context.#ijs
I mean, if I had a voice like Whitney’s I wouldn’t be threatened either.
Eu também não me sentiria ameaçado se fosse whitney Houston kkkk
I dont agree .. she was very assertive .
They should've been a group, signed and produced by Whitney.
She had a girl group in the late 90/00 called “Sunday” check out their song “Believe in Love” which has some amazing Whitney vocals in the background
@@JammaOfficial Okay I'll definitely check that out. I love learning new things about Whitney
@@JammaOfficialwhat happened?
Whitney is also on Sunday’s song All of a Sudden

@JillCheese, yep. I had their CD. All of Donnie's sisters could sing.
Aww hate she passed o remember she give a testimony at her brothers Donnie concert years ago
What harmonies!! Which one is Olivia?
That's what I liked it about Whitney she had no problem with letting others shine ‼️ that's the definition of a Deva.
Do your research about what DEVA really means. It has nothing to do with GOD.
Yeah hers and Luthers backup singers (Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle and Brenda-White King) were no joke
Whitney Houston background singers are fire!!!!
Man all sisters could blow. Bring that back.
Nah, there's Normani and plenty other sisters that can't sing for shite
Stop stereotyping...u making me feel bad😢😢😢😢
