    Very helpful and well-done video. Appreciated the acknowledgement of the difference in your working conditions to that of the typical viewer! Tip to others: a little water-based lubricant (I used U.S. Sealube) worked like a charm to get that ceramic/rubber seal part into place.

    NICE JOB GUYS. new pool owner and we had someone close our pool this past fall. the pool motor was never unplugged and i think it was running two two days 8 hours per day with no water. So i was going to buy another just incase this one is damaged but a buddy said don't worry if anything you'll just have to replace the pump motor shaft seal. I didn't know what that would entail but now i feel pretty good about fixing it. thanks guys

    I’m wiring my new pump I got from your place. I have a 20 Amp breaker switch outside where my pool pump is and I have 12-2 wire going to my pool pump. It’s black, white, ground. Can you tell me where black and white wires go? I know the ground goes to the ground screw. It’s 120 volts coming off the black and white wires we did a test with our meter. Also, do I leave where the manufacture set the black plug at 230V? I have a 3/4 HP Replacement motor for my Hayward Super Pump I bought from inyo pools. I need help wiring it up👍

    • @PinBall3
      @PinBall3 4 года назад +1

      On 220 - 240 Volt motors and the combined feed wire also at 220 - 240 volt either wire is hot can terminate at either terminal.
      If you are Hardwiring the motor rather than using a plug ,by all means REMOVE THE PLUG as the plug end would be ▬ LIVE AND DEADLY ▬ situation if you left them inline with the power feed .

Its been leaking so I ordered ps201 seal still leaking. Ordered impeller and housing and all seals and still leaking it was dripping for a day then steady flow of water. Every time opened it water was was behind by motor coming out in hole bottom of motor. Any ideas on what to do or what it can be? Is seal correct ps201? 3 seals and followed all steps and still leaking. I'm at a loss.

    I just bought a new tune up kit with new housing gasket and seal. I’m replacing my Hayward Super Pump motor. Do I need to apply silicone to the housing gasket? If so, can you link me to a good kind to get? I mean do you really need to lubricate a brand new housing gasket?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  4 года назад +2

      Yes, we recommend using teflon lubricant on the housing gasket. It will help the gasket stay in place as well as extend the life. Here is a link to a good gasket lubricant. www.inyopools.com/Products/00100028008427.htm

  • @Montery12
    @Montery12 6 лет назад +1

    You guys made it look easy and entertaining. Keep up good work.
    But, noticed that you did not change housing gasket when you mounted pump motor.
    Aren't we supposed to change all parts i.e. gaskets, rings, O rings etc related to job once exposed? Even though used parts may still look good, it'd best to change them anyway to minimize chance of another leak and again bring pump motor apart when you did not have to.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words. You're right about replacing all the gaskets and seals. We always recommend getting the proper gasket kit (goo.gl/C9prbx) when replacing the shaft seal. Since this was pretty much a brand new pump for demonstration purpose we did not do this. However, we certainly should have mentioned it in the video. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

    • @Inyopools

  • @CozyBear_29

    The seal kit I got from Inyo looked ritght. However, the cereamic shaft seal was extremely difficult to get in. Once put together , the motor seemed to not turn properly and when I opened it back up, the rubber around the seal had melted. Everything went in the proper direction. Why would there be friction? thoughts? thanks!

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  Год назад

      The only time I've seen a part of the seal plate or shaft seal melt is when the pump is run dry for an extended period. Shaft seal surfaces are super smooth, but they aren't frictionless. When the motor turns 3450 RPMs, the two pieces sliding across each other create heat as a byproduct. Water flowing through the pump while the shaft is spinning keeps the shaft seal temperature in check.
      In short, I'd find out why your pump was running dry. How To Determine Why a Pool Pump Won't Prime: www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_determine_why_a_pool_pump_won_t_prime.aspx
