Good interview, But from the outside looking in, it's as though jesse was being asked to be the Man of his family, look after mum, brother and sister, deal with work etc etc (everyday family life) , but he still wasn't ready to do this mentally. Career or family⚖️, i think jesse eventually chose family 1st , dealt with that and now he's back to his career. This is the way i hear it. A good learning curve for him by the sounds of it.
He's going through fk all bar an existential crisis upon the realisation that he isn't as good as thought he'd be. I mean, fair enough. But that's life. He needs to get over it and grow, like everyone else does.
Jesse is the prime example of, you never really know what somebody is going through. With all his success and achievements. He's still had demons, his story to tell, the effect of his mother's "illness" and still persisted and strived. Admirable Jess! 💪🏼

Honestly Jesse it's a very talented player with great skills. Unfortunately he got problems during his golden years as football player. I am sure if he didn't get problems, he might spend all his professional career and retired in Man United.
Met jesse a few years ago. One of the politest lads you would meet. One of the few players that will stop at Carrington training ground and speak to fans. Kids, etc.
The great thing you have brought to Forest Jesse, is not just your skills as a footballer but your personality. We can see that the dressing room has been transformed since you have been at the club. I watched a RUclips video today of you with Danilo on his first day at the club, in a new country for him and not knowing the language. You really helped make it a fun day for him.

Post natal depression hits at the very time one is expecting to be at ones happiest... it's a constant battle between the darkness in one's mind, and the maternal instinct to love and care for the precious baby... confusion why this is happening doesn't help either. Thank goodness I found support from a marvelous midwife who literally had to drag an admission that I was depressed from me...I was so ashamed. New mums used to spend much longer in hospital, my great aunt's generation spent six weeks in bed, cared for by family and friends. Mums had time to spend with their babies, and recoup their energy. It's a crime to mums and babies, rushing things through today.

Jesse Lingard is literally a multimillionaire who only has to work 25 hours a week. I literaly feel no sympathy for someone who endlessly whines about just how many "struggles" he has to deal with, when in his case, struggle just means pressure. He doesn't know what pressure is.
Always admired and loved Jesse Lingard and will never forget his fantastic goals that helped my club win the FA Cup in 2016 and the League Cup in 2017, this was a brilliant podcast and very eye opening. Wish you and your family the best Jesse.
He's a good man can't say anything bad about him at all. Not something would look to do really anyway, just a good man. He gives what he can on the pitch and some interesting moments off the pitch e.g. social media etc. . Nothing like what wouldnt be there from any other typical footballer
We all often forget there’s a person, a family and personal problems behind a footballer. Fair play to Jessie for doing this and the documentary, going through a lot it must take big courage to open up the the world, especially when at times he’s probably felt like the world’s been against him. My mothers struggled with depression too, used to make me feel helpless and when I got myself into a bad place too, it was incredibly hard for each of use to try and lift ourselves and each other as I feel like I used to mirror how she and the rest of the house felt. Couldn’t think of anything worse then trying to help my mam with the media and world focusing and criticism on myself, mam reading it getting upset and going in a vicious circle. Amazing podcast, felt like this was more of a depressing one but enjoyed it more in a strange way. ❤ Just subscribed and going to start watching way more!
Yeah depression is brutal man, can think about the light thing he mentioned "darkened room". Beyond the coming off these meds for sleep, regulating sleep meant there. Had a few days of that there a little while back, yeah had to put myself in completely darkened room for 10-15 mins ish

So sad this. Iv supported Utd since I was 7 now 42. He has had it hard and I relate to things with his family having a mother with manic depression for 36 years of my life and on top for having to play for the biggest club man Utd time. As a forest fan I can say I do love him, Even now he's injured he's not in the stands or at home, he's pitch side every game showing support to the boys. That isnt the mentality of someone who 'came for the money' hope he comes back stronger from injury because I would love to keep him playing for us!

Have to say as a forest fan, this guy gets way too much hate. Love that he is here with us, can see the impact (POSITIVE) he has on the dressing room. His goal against spurs was great and the way he interacts with fans here is top tier. He might not be hitting the highs everyone expected but that’s football and he started growing into the team before his recent injury. All the best 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Such resilience is probably helped by looking at his bank balance every morning and realising that he doesn't have to go to an office today or nurse someone back to good health on low pay. He's so brave.

If Jesse ever reads the comments to this video I hope he understands the respect and love forest fans have for his passion and energy. As a Forest supporter I haven't had as much joy in the past minus getting promotetd as I have watching him and his passion for the club and the project here grow. Between the reactions midgame to the video's of him supporting the players amongst the team in training to the celebrating the win in his car after the tottenham game he has created a life long supporter of me. From now in a forest shirt to where ever he may move to he is a blessing to any dressing room and I will back him as a player. I hope he stays on here.
@@christophercurtis8491 Forest knew that when they signed him though. As with a lot of free agents who come on their own terms. It doesn’t change what he's done at the club on and off the pitch. He was at a stage where he needed to be happy and feel loved to help his mental health. He found a team and ground that gave him goosebumps after he was at rock bottom.

I don't know how long Jessie will stay at Nottingham Forest, but I'm very happy to have him in the Nottingham Forest family, He's a good person and I saw how he was with that trainspotting lad on the documentry, it was heartwarming and his kindness and humbleness showed me the mark of the man. Depression can hit anyone, trust me I have experience of it, it's truly awful and it does'nt matter if your'e a millionaire or on the dole, it can bring you to your knees. I salute Jessie speaking so openly about depression and wish him well for the future!
As a UTD fan you always show admiration for the players who wear the jersey, but I feel the players that come from the academy, all the way from the youth team to 1st team, get that extra admiration and that’s why I feel for Lingzy. Under Jose he was on fire and it’s a shame the infrastructure around them was so corrosive that it got players under performing like Pogba and Di Maria (a few who come to mind). Although I didn’t like what CR7 did, his interview was very revealing, which correlates with Lingzys account. Wish him all the best in his career and life. Tore it up at West Ham and then deluded himself into thinking he'd get back into the United team. He should have signed for West Ham but now will just fade away into obscurity.
Sounds like his mother suffers from bipolar depression (hence why he is referring to extraordinary stuff - symptoms of mania etc), bipolar gets worse with having children with lack of sleep, post-partum hormone changes being huge triggers. Even medications cannot always keep it under control. I'm talking from experience with my own wife having that condition (and also being a mother). Can see he is a bit uncomfortable talking about it, but its perfectly "normal" for someone with that condition. She has done very well not to take her own life, many mothers are extremely vulnerable in that situation, even without bipolar.
Not knowing much about your story Steven I have to say I was very sceptical and thought that these shows were gonna be glorified business seminars. But this is slowly becoming one of my favourite things to listen to in my spare time. I sympathise with Jessie for having to deal with his family problems which must have been tough at the time, I find it interesting that like Ronaldo he is criticising uniteds facilities which appears true, but where Jesse lost me was when he said that he suggested to United to be more up to date with things like ‘content’ & that for me is the key word I’ll take from this interview - Manchester United is a football club and should be focusing on being the best at funnily enough football, people like Lingard are the epitome of what is wrong with the modern footballer

I love these kinds of podcasts with footballers because it gives a different perspective that people don't see or consider. Just because they're very successful financially doesn't mean there isn't many negatives and they still have the same emotions as every other human. They're still someone's child or someone's parent. And they've all usually come from very humble ordinary begins. People seem to think they just roll up on a Saturday to play the match and get paid massive amounts of money. They don't seem to consider what it has taken to get to that stage both physically and mentally. then People also forget that it's only a few small pool of the total amount of professional footballers that get paid hundreds of thousands a week. The vast majority aren't on anywhere near that and most still. People say "but anyone could do it. I work 50 hours a week bla bla bla". If anyone could do it then anyone would do it and most people are ultimately jealous. Football and sport generally is also a meritocracy because It's only usually the best that get to the top, baring a few exceptions, and that's how it should.
Such a shame he went through all of that on n off the pitch, we as fans need to realise not only are they human but alot if them are young men who have sacrificed a lot of themselves to make others happy and just end up getting slated by the same fans they play for

Poor Jesse, I hope hes in a better place right now. Thinking about how he must have been held back due to depression or the club, its hard. The only way now is to move forward and be the best one can be for today. Hopefully, hes got a good support system now and goes to therapy. Therapy is important people!

Really liked this interview I just had one problem. In both those periods under solksjaer where he says he didn't play he did actually get some chances in rotation and united were crying out for no.10 to rotate with Bruno and he was so poor both before the loan to West ham and after. Stephen didn't give him any push back or tough questions on that
He is simply deluded where United are concerned. Utterly moronic not to sign permanently for West Ham. His ego deluded him into thinking he would get back in the United team but everyone with a brain knew he was never going to play regularly for United. Jesse seems like a great guy but he will regret not signing permanently for West Ham, he probably won't ever admit it but I have no doubts he will be kicking himself about that long after he stops playing.

Post natal depression hits at the very time one is expecting to be at ones happiest... it's a constant battle between the darkness in one's mind, and the maternal instinct to love and care for the precious baby... confusion why this is happening doesn't help either. Thank goodness I found support from a marvelous midwife who literally had to drag an admission that I was depressed from me...I was so ashamed. New mums used to spend much longer in hospital, my great aunt's generation spent six weeks in bed, cared for by family and friends. Mums had time to spend with their babies, and recoup their energy. It's a crime to mums and babies, rushing things through today.

He's a good man can't say anything bad about him at all. Not something would look to do really anyway, just a good man. He gives what he can on the pitch and some interesting moments off the pitch e.g. social media etc. . Nothing like what wouldnt be there from any other typical footballer
We all often forget there’s a person, a family and personal problems behind a footballer. Fair play to Jessie for doing this and the documentary, going through a lot it must take big courage to open up the the world, especially when at times he’s probably felt like the world’s been against him.
My mothers struggled with depression too, used to make me feel helpless and when I got myself into a bad place too, it was incredibly hard for each of use to try and lift ourselves and each other as I feel like I used to mirror how she and the rest of the house felt. Couldn’t think of anything worse then trying to help my mam with the media and world focusing and criticism on myself, mam reading it getting upset and going in a vicious circle.
Amazing podcast, felt like this was more of a depressing one but enjoyed it more in a strange way. ❤

Yeah depression is brutal man, can think about the light thing he mentioned "darkened room". Beyond the coming off these meds for sleep, regulating sleep meant there. Had a few days of that there a little while back, yeah had to put myself in completely darkened room for 10-15 mins ish

As a forest fan I can say I do love him, Even now he's injured he's not in the stands or at home, he's pitch side every game showing support to the boys. That isnt the mentality of someone who 'came for the money' hope he comes back stronger from injury because I would love to keep him playing for us!

Have to say as a forest fan, this guy gets way too much hate. Love that he is here with us, can see the impact (POSITIVE) he has on the dressing room. His goal against spurs was great and the way he interacts with fans here is top tier. Such resilience is probably helped by looking at his bank balance every morning and realising that he doesn't have to go to an office today or nurse someone back to good health on low pay. He's so brave.

He was at a stage where he needed to be happy and feel loved to help his mental health. He found a team and ground that gave him goosebumps after he was at rock bottom.

I don't know how long Jessie will stay at Nottingham Forest, but I'm very happy to have him in the Nottingham Forest family, He's a good person and I saw how he was with that trainspotting lad on the documentry, it was heartwarming and his kindness and humbleness showed me the mark of the man. Depression can hit anyone, trust me I have experience of it, it's truly awful and it does'nt matter if your'e a millionaire or on the dole, it can bring you to your knees. I salute Jessie speaking so openly about depression and wish him well for the future!
As a UTD fan you always show admiration for the players who wear the jersey, but I feel the players that come from the academy, all the way from the youth team to 1st team, get that extra admiration and that’s why I feel for Lingzy. Under Jose he was on fire and it’s a shame the infrastructure around them was so corrosive that it got players under performing like Pogba and Di Maria (a few who come to mind). Although I didn’t like what CR7 did, his interview was very revealing, which correlates with Lingzys account. Wish him all the best in his career and life. Sounds like his mother suffers from bipolar depression (hence why he is referring to extraordinary stuff - symptoms of mania etc), bipolar gets worse with having children with lack of sleep, post-partum hormone changes being huge triggers. Even medications cannot always keep it under control. I'm talking from experience with my own wife having that condition (and also being a mother). Can see he is a bit uncomfortable talking about it, but its perfectly "normal" for someone with that condition. She has done very well not to take her own life, many mothers are extremely vulnerable in that situation, even without bipolar.

I love these kinds of podcasts with footballers because it gives a different perspective that people don't see or consider. Just because they're very successful financially doesn't mean there isn't many negatives and they still have the same emotions as every other human. They're still someone's child or someone's parent. And they've all usually come from very humble ordinary begins.
People seem to think they just roll up on a Saturday to play the match and get paid massive amounts of money. They don't seem to consider what it has taken to get to that stage both physically and mentally. then People also forget that it's only a few small pool of the total amount of professional footballers that get paid hundreds of thousands a week. The vast majority aren't on anywhere near that and most still.
People say "but anyone could do it. I work 50 hours a week bla bla bla". If anyone could do it then anyone would do it and most people are ultimately jealous. Football and sport generally is also a meritocracy because It's only usually the best that get to the top, baring a few exceptions, and that's how it should.
Such a shame he went through all of that on n off the pitch, we as fans need to realise not only are they human but alot if them are young men who have sacrificed a lot of themselves to make others happy and just end up getting slated by the same fans they play for

Poor Jesse, I hope hes in a better place right now. Thinking about how he must have been held back due to depression or the club, its hard. The only way now is to move forward and be the best one can be for today. Hopefully, hes got a good support system now and goes to therapy. Therapy is important people!

Imagine having All that money and drink on tap,I'm glad he looks after his daughter and you can tell he loves his mum so much, mental health is not a joke and I know for sure i would be not in a good place, it took me going to rehab and finding faith that took me away after my mum passed away so I respect Jesse and his path is different but respect Jesse for keeping his head up and not giving up God bless you my dear friend and brother ❤️❤️

Really liked this interview I just had one problem. In both those periods under solksjaer where he says he didn't play he did actually get some chances in rotation and united were crying out for no.10 to rotate with Bruno and he was so poor both before the loan to West ham and after. Stephen didn't give him any push back or tough questions on that
He is simply deluded where United are concerned. Utterly moronic not to sign permanently for West Ham. His ego deluded him into thinking he would get back in the United team but everyone with a brain knew he was never going to play regularly for United. Jesse seems like a great guy but he will regret not signing permanently for West Ham, he probably won't ever admit it but I have no doubts he will be kicking himself about that long after he stops playing.
