One issue many small studios have is that their audio interfaces have an all input or none choice for phantom power, making it difficult to use condenser mics along side of a passive ribbon or dynamic mics. The D-Booster solves that problem. The boost also brings these mics in line with the output levels of condenser mics.
Front inputs on the MOTU UltraLite-mk5 both have pad and 48v on/off buttons allowing use of a condenser on one input while using a ribbon or dynamic on the other at the same time. It's worked pretty well so far... just ordered the R-10, but I'll wait to see how well it works with a condenser before I order an in-line booster.

I like the compact size of the R10. Easy to mount on my overhead stands. Might have to give it a try.
