    I have had this drum kit for 11 months now, and I'm have been extremely happy with it, i wont lie, the hi-hat controller kinda sucked so i did the upgrade found here on you tube and the kit has been flawless ever since, I'm super happy with this kit over the Roland TD-17KVX model!

    As the owner of a Strike kit, I have to say I love the pads and the module. I've had it for almost 2 months now. I must admit though, the Alesis hi-hat is not good. No matter what parameters I changed, I just couldn't get a realistic open/close curve. So I ended up swapping it with a Roland VH-11, *and* I'm using my old TD-11 module just for triggering SSD 5 (the Strike module is on another e-kit for live gigs now). My current setup is the Alesis Strike pads, VH-11 hi-hat, and two extra Roland crashes for a total of 3. Love it!

    I'm happy to see a company challenge Roland in this market.
    My only issue is that the Strike and Strike Pro kits use the exact same internal design as the DM-10 mesh drums, and are known to break and fail.
    Broken plastic trigger support plates, and shorted trigger wires seem to be very common even among those that support this kit.
    Basic mechanical improvements would make this a real threat to the $7,500 Roland kit.

      The issue seems to be fixed with the latest update, however everything I've read simply says that tuning is required. Inconvenience, but whatever. Another thing some people are doing is buying a Rolan hi hat that is compatible with the Alesis SP

  • @Skyedrummer145
    @Skyedrummer145 5 лет назад +1

    The sounds are excellent - especially the DW kits. The module is excellent - miles ahead of the competition. I found the 'feel' of the pads was also very good. That's where the plus points stop. The rack is cheaply made. The cymbals are not great at all - the 'choke' didn't really work on mine very well at all. The hi-hat is utterly dreadful - I swapped it for a Roland model.
    But the worst thing I found was that it simply wouldn't play in a band situation. The volume/frequencies from the other instruments caused the kit to mis-trigger making it impossible to play in a rock situation.
    Maybe I had a bad one? Maybe I was just unlucky? Who knows, all I do know is that I am very happy with my Mapex kit with Istanbul Cymbals - they do what they're supposed to do and, when I hit them, they always make the sound they're supposed to.
    My advice? Save up a few more Dollars/Pounds/Euros and go for a Roland or Yamaha - there is NO competition between them and Alesis.
    I got my money back after 6 months of utter nightmare...

      It's true. I had a Studio DM 10. I learned not to put a double bass pedal, cuz it couldn't handle the kick. It drowned the module. I had it replaced twice. And each time at Alexis was an act of Congress to get any response from them. And on the third time they took even longer to fix or respond, because they knew my warranty was running out. A total waste of $1200

    • @misterringer
      @misterringer 5 лет назад

      I wouldn't say they're 60% bad, but there are way too many accounts of durability issues to feel comfortable buying it.
      I understand it's big bang for the buck and they had to sacrifice something for the price point, but I wish it wasn't durability and QC.
      Some of the built in hi hat sounds still suck too, which leads a lot of people to think there is something wrong with the triggering. It's really just how the module processes the sounds I think (abrupt cut offs and such), because the demos of this kit controlling a VST like Superior Drummer sound pretty damn good, hi hats included.

      @@dmtracing56 Is EZ drummer and Superior drummer really better than just using the sounds of a module, Alesis Id believe that but not Roland

    • @dmtracing56
      @dmtracing56 4 года назад

      @@mar.c1 i cant speak for all modules but from the ones ive tried out they tended to have that slightly synthesized tone where as the sounds with EZdrummer all sounded like studio quality drums

      @@mar.c1 You can literally load EZD kits into the Alesis Strike module. Can't do that on a Roland.

    Much like basically all the drum modules out there, be it from Alesis or Roland, the drum kits don't sound natural at all. Software like Addictive Drums 2 sound waaaayy more natural than this. When will manufacturers finally understand that offering hundreds of crappy sounding drum kits isn't worth having only a dozen great sounding ones, with algorithms that make sure that the same sample is NEVER played twice in a row ! Geez.

      They're getting less hateable all the time Zach....... many advantages to a kit like that for a whole lot of people. You need to think of it like a different tool and not a competitor to your acoustic set. But I get it.......

    Let's talk about the shitty hi hat adjustment, then the extremely complex and useless modulesettings....
    It's a cheap drumkit what costs a lot of money...
    I only can tell all of you: better buy the more expensive drums of Roland, there you get the quality for your money

    • @1979GenXdude
      @1979GenXdude 5 лет назад

      krusher74 That maybe...but a real kit has unlimited dynamics and therefor thousands of sounds. Electronic kits only have a small selected range of those dynamics. You can hear the individual recorded samples. And the fact that the sounds are already processed makes it even worse...
