Love my VTX 1800. The original "Power Cruiser". Gobs of power and torque, great looks, compliant ride, smooth and predictable handling, rock solid Honda reliability and you can literally pick them up for a song at this point. There are really no downsides to owning this bike.
Glad you gave the VTX1800 the respect that it deserves. Been riding over three decades, owned almost every brand, and the current 2002 VTX1800C is my favorite one of them all. It's a torgue monster at city and highway speeds. I'm also partial to its linked braking system. Depressing the rear brake activates a third of the front one too. Second favorite bike is the mighty Valkyrie, Honda's original power cruiser. Rubber side down, Jon.
I had been on a quest for a Valk when I came across an 1800. The ergos killed it for me along with the linked brakes. The exhaust note was not to my liking. Funny, to me they sound badass at idle with a good pipe but when you get them wound out at speed, in my opinion they sound horrendous. To me, that is. It was a year or so later when I finally did find a Valkyrie. I still like and respect the VTX1800...just not a bike for me.
@@jeffkeni Ergos is everything when you're a young geezer like me. What felt comfortable when I was a young whippersnapper no longer does now. My knees appreciate the ergos of a VTX1800 now more than the Valk. cycle-ergo.com/ They are still the two best power cruisers around, IMO. Keep the rubber side of your Valk down, Jeff.
I bought a brand new 2007 VTX 1800T in August of 2009. It was still sitting in the Honda warehouse and had never made it to a dealership. Needless to say I got a heck of a deal on it. Fast forward to today,( I actually rode it today), it now has 88,500 miles on the odo and has NEVER had one problem! My other bike is a 2020 Ultra Limited which I like but I love the VTX. Honda really knows how to build a product for the long run!
@@rahulrane1658 I came from a CBR 600 and a Shadow 750. Get the 1800 if you have not already bought one. You will not regret it. If you need to crush any doubt, try to test drive one. The first day I drove mine, I was sold. Be easy on the throttle the first time coming from a Shadow cause the bike will throw you if you try to roll the throttle like your used to on the Shadow. If the pure power and torque does not immediately have you sold on the bike then the beautiful sound of that engine and the comfort, stability and smooth as butter shifting will. I was lucky to catch a friend that regrettably bought an HD, so to keep the 1800 from sitting up he sold it to me for 2200 dollars but after owning it, I would easily pay 5k and maybe even 6k dollars for another one if mine was ever stolen or wrecked. That is the only way I would ever get rid of my 1800. stolen or wrecked. Its a joy to ride and I would not ever sell it. It'll get up and go and spin the back tire and the front wheel will even leave the road on a good jump but at the same time its a strong smooth reliable bike that is relaxing and comfortable to enjoy a slow sunday drive. Also, shaft driven and fuel injected just to top off an already great engine. And I swear that thing will pull a bass boat with the torque its got.

@@rahulrane1658 haha. Nice. Well take a test drive on the Vtx 1800 if you get the chance. It’s definitely an impressive bike. Hard to beat those Honda motors too. They just won’t die and require so little maintenance. Just the basic maintenance will keep them running forever it seems like

I bought a VTX 1800R last spring with a trike kit on it ( I pretty much have to go trike or trike kit these days with a bad knee ) and I love the bike , plenty of shit n git for me and super comfortable with floor boards and highway pegs to go back n forth with .... the ONLY complaint I have is I spend a ton of time at gas stations , the fuel economy is not great and the gas tank is smaller than it looks so you are having to stop sooner than most others
Never rode a trike but interested to know how the 1800 engine handles the set up. I know with mine riding 2 up feels no different the riding solo. Do you notice any difference in power in the trike version opposed to the two wheel setup?
Thanks Jon, Finally some 1800 love! I've got an F model. It pulls man! Got my eye on a Roadliner, looking for more of a comfy cruiser with good power. (and better exhaust note). Any opinion on the two?

It’s funny, my Dad keeps trying to gift me his 2017 Harley Ultra Limited. I keep declining. He thinks I’m nuts. I tell him, the value isn’t in the sticker price...it’s in the goods. Harley has got to be the short(for all you market traders out there) of a lifetime right now. That company is as good as cooked. The baby boomers(their only real clientele) are too old for bikes now, and nobody gives a sh$( about a $2,000 custom paint job.
I have a 2005 vtx 1800N I love the power, and the cool tire hugging rear tire. It has a power commander and big straight pipes. Idk how much power it may have give it but it is a beast

@@jamesdip2 haha. That’s awesome. It doesn’t have that sport bike acceleration and speed but it’s got insane raw power and torque for a cruiser. I had a CBR 600. Fun but uncomfortable on long rides. I thought they looked good. I never road one tough. Until just the last couple of years as far as a big heavy street bike went if it wasn't a Harley I didn't want it. Things are slightly different now, but as long as I can only have 1 bike it will be a Harley. Stay safe and healthy Jon.
I have a vtx1300. I really like it but I’m getting tired of the carb since I ride year round in below 32*F. I don’t want to do so many mods to where It would have been cheaper just to get a road king with fuel injection. I’ve done some Glen’s vtx garage mods as well as the STS module. I’m considering getting a ST1300, or a triple. Broad range, I know. We’ll see.
Yeah, I feel like they should have made both bikes EFI, I imagine it was for costs, and to further separate the flagship model, but it would have made a lot of sense. Even being a carby, that 1300 is no slowpoke!
On paper, the raider/stratoliners have as much torque, if not more. But from my recollection, they dont seem quite as gnarly in person. Hmmm...now I'm curious. It's been so long since I rode either. I need to get my hands on both. Lol.
Down low, I bet the Yamaha has better torque. But I'd bet the water cooled bikes have way more power higher in the revs. I've never ridden the Suzuki, but I've heard nothing but great things. I have a hard time with the looks of that bike.. I love your video topics by the way. I wheel and deal in bikes the same as you. I live in a small town tho so I sure don't move bikes through like you do.
I had one for 5 years (2006-2011) it was a 2003 retro....it was way to heavy, sounded terrible even with vance & hines exaust, front and back wheels did not line up, no way to adjust, way to much play in the drive line, which gave it a " herky-jerky" feel at low speeds, maybe it was wrecked and put back together, don't know.....glad I had kept my 1995 honda shadow 1100, which I bought 20 years ago and still ride, it runs like a clock......love your channel Jon
Retro is my fav.. I have a custom 02 1800R in paint now. and forced to ride an 05 ultra classic till I get her back. I'm, spoiled I can not find a newer bike that touches all the points the VTX hits. And I can't do 1300 since there is 1800 in the world. I have still not got to ride the Stratoliner 1900 I hear it's nice. and has a cool look.. but it misses the boat on BADA(&^ look like the VTX
The vrods that you beat with your vtx must have been short shifting. Both my vtx and vrod are tuned, vrod is faster. Ive also ridden stock ones, same difference.

Vance and Hines big shots, thunder city baffles, PC3 and Corsair air intake, fbat fairing just like the one in this vid, crash bars and mustang fiberglass leather wrapped bags. all for 3k!!! two cross country trips and 160k on the odometer and still pulls wheelies. only maintenance i've done is oil, clutch, plugs and rectifier, Best vtwin bruiser ever made. you can't get any more bang for you buck as far as vtwins go. i'll NEVER get ride of my X18. great bike. great vid.
Just bought a 2005 Honda VTX 1800s....only has 7785..on engine...am I getting a new bike or what...Sweet!!!
My 02 1800c challenges my rocket III in the 0-60, but gets wrecked from 60-120+
I love mine ♥️ will never willingly get rid of it!
2003 C 1800 101hp 119 ft Uranium Green.
The Harley Eater!
haha. Its a fun bike to walk away from the cocky HD owners at the line. Always catches them off guard. But the HD owners who know about the 1800 respect it.
I have a 2006 vtx1800f and I love it. straight pipes, power commander 3 and k&n intake. Fastest it has seen is 140mph and it wasn't half way threw 5th. Best part was I got it at a pawnshop for only $1800
And only 3500 miles when got it
Holy smokes! Deal of a lifetime! 🤙😎🏍
I own mine new since 2002. Spoke model. Love it and can blow most anything off the road. Also buy old gl 1200 and bring them back to life.
One of the best thing about Honda 1800 you do not have to be stage one stage to stage three or four to actually make it go put gas in it and enjoy
I have a 2006 VTX C one owned with 16000 original miles on it.. this bikes factory flames 🔥 is absolutely beautiful. I may sell it for the right price. The original owner had it Dyno tuned with Vance & Hines and it’s fast loud and best of all, reliable!!
I have a VTX 1300 and love it. however I would love to have the added power of an 1800
Same here. Looking for an 1800 this year
I just got one and I love it. Lots of great info from you thanks. Ride safe.
I have the N, but now that I'm 61 years old, I find it too heavy for me. Great bike though. Bought it new in 2004 and absolutely zero issues.
15yrs now with my 03 1800c 👍❤️
I own a 2006 VTX 1800 and I know what you mean I love it so much torque through every gear there's nothing fun and it stops on the dime
I have an 03 VTX 1800R with soft bags, windshield and Vance&Hines pipes. Got it a cpl yrs ago in mint condition...Luv it so far!! It doesn’t compare to my gixxer I had for yrs but way more comfy and plenty of power!!
@@impirepro06 there may be a SLIGHT difference technically but I can not notice the difference simply by riding it ...
I like the VTX 1800 and I have not ridden one. Thanks, like it, good content
I’ve owned 3 1800’s. A “C” that my dad left me, and 2 “R”s. Sold one to my brother. Still have the other one. A barn find that I restored.
Just bought one a 03 Honda vtx 1800 love it
Thanks Jon, Finally some 1800 love! I've got an F model. It pulls man! Got my eye on a Roadliner, looking for more of a comfy cruiser with good power. (and better exhaust note). Any opinion on the two?
josh weddle I also own the F. 2007.
By far the best road bike I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned Ducati’s, Harley’s, Bro’s, Norton’s, BMW, Triumph’s, Aprillas...etc. You name it,I’ve either owned it or riden it.
VTX 1800 takes em all!
I've ridden both and the roadliner/stratoliner, while still a monster engine, seems a bit more tame by my recollection. But it's been a long time.
I have a 2005 vtx 1800N I love the power, and the cool tire hugging rear tire. It has a power commander and big straight pipes. Idk how much power it may have give it but it is a beast
seems would be better to do a little suspension work and a different exhaust. what about the exhaust do you not like? Sound level, smoothness, etc....?
Just inherited a o3 with only 5600 miles gonna enjoy it
new to this would it be better to get this or a fxr
I'm about to buy a custom 03, red with ghost flames and all chromed out! I can't freaking wait!
just curious. its a year later, any opinions on the bike after owning it for a year?
@@impirepro06 I love it! It's legitimately the GREATEST machine I ever owned. My last bike was a GSXR-1000, before that a GZXR-750 an R1 my first bike was a Yamaha 6r, just the sport tour of the R6 and out of all them... my VTX is the greatest machine ever. Not as fast.... but still scrapes around corners and it just looks cool. Love love love my VTX!
@@jamesdip2 haha. That’s awesome. It doesn’t have that sport bike acceleration and speed but it’s got insane raw power and torque for a cruiser. I had a CBR 600. Fun but uncomfortable on long rides. The 1800 is like a muscle car crossed with the smooth ride and shifting of a cadillac. I was sold on the my first test drive before I shifted out of first. Still love getting on it from a dead stop and letting back end slide around while the tire spins. Just a great bike. Fuel injection and drive shaft is the icing on top of a monster engine
Would luv to add those bags, rear trunk box and captains rear seat. Anyone have any links, or websites? I have a 2007 vtx1800F2 with a batwing. Need mirror replacements also, any links or recommendations?
Ty
Proud owner of a 2008 VTX1800 F1. I love this bike and the awesome torque Always owned Honda motorcycles. Just started a Motovlog channel and will be using this bike as the ride. There are still many of these around to be had and they are priced very reasonable. One Day when I grow up I may get a Harley, but economically for me this makes sense and gives me a whole lot of bike bang for buck
I follow you
@@mrfourtysevenman thank you !
I currently own a 2005 1800c and I really like riding this bike. I owned a Harley but had to wrench on it to much. I have noticed that a majority of bikes for sale are Harleys. Ever wonder why? Just my thought
I have the 02 1800 and it’s what I call a Sport cruiser just because it’s a cruiser but has been raked with a 240 rear and commander 3. Good cruiser but you can ride it like a sport bike if that make any sense. Merry Christmas
Haha. I call it a sport cruiser with stock setup. Like a muscle car and a Goldwing had a child together.
Just bought a 02 1800 VTX and love it 💕
just picked up a 2002 with a 11k and a power commander needs some things but holy cow what power got a 88cu harley and this thing is scary
What do you think about this bike as a trike? There is one for sale near me and I was thinking of getting it..
QUESTION TO ALL. I own an '03 VTX1800S, and want to reduce the RAKE, and the configuration of the WHEELS, from 17", and 15" to 16". With no Engineering background, I can not predict what the performance, SAFETY would be, Your thoughts?
I have a 03 vtx 1800s and still love it. It's fun enough to ride a little hard by myself or a perfectly comfortable 2 up ride.
I always thought of it more like a heritage soft tail style.
Any time you can get out of a bike square with your purchase price, after getting to ride it for several months or a few years, that's a win!
My father-in-law has one it's the 1 I believe it's 2100 C c's and all blacked out. unfortunately it's just sitting in front of his house with no cover for many years been rotted away by the weather and the sea air..
Love my VTX 🤘
dam disappointed u didn't ride one for the video
Great take. I enjoy your videos alot. How does the Vtx compare to the Yamaha Raider?
I like the F but if I could go back in time I would buy the T. Great looking bike, and I would love to travel on it.
Love your vids...I've got a Warrior which is breathed on...just bought yesterday a Vulcan 2000 from a guy in Chandler. THIS bike is a torque monster...!
You read my mind. I've thought of an 1800 Fury as well, with twin discs.
I own an '05 "F" and it's a monster. Put aftermarket pipes on it, love the bike.
Cool bike I had the 1800R sunburst orange
I own a 2003 vtx1800s and I absolutely love it
Like most of Jon's videos, my right ear really enjoyed this video. While my left ear was sadly "left" out. Great video Jon! gotta fix that mic though.
I've got a new set upin the works...🤙😎
At first I thought my air pods were jacked up.
I have a VTX 1300. Awesome bikes. Wish they still made them.
Jon I like your channel. Great to get a young man's opinion on the bikes I still love.
I love mine but really wish it had a 6 speed trans and radiators were still available.
I have a 06 1800r love it
I'm thinking now , this vtx 1800 instead of the road king. I plan on longer rides 2 up.
There are 2 nice VTX1800s for sale at my local shop. $3K apiece. Too big for me. Both are in perfect shape.
Can you drop a name of the city and shop where the bikes are at please? Thx!
I thought they looked good. I never road one tough. Until just the last couple of years as far as a big heavy street bike went if it wasn't a Harley I didn't want it. Things are slightly different now, but as long as I can only have 1 bike it will be a Harley. Stay safe and healthy Jon.
Almost bought one but went with the Raider
Cornbread Fed funny i boughtnthe raider and at 20k i lost 3rd gear.. now im buying a vtx 1800 lol.. hope you have better luckmwith your raider
Joe D you will be so happy with the difference in power. As Jon says. It’s gnarly.
I bought a 1800r last night
My 08 is my lover now.
i have a 2007 vtx 1800f i have had it since 2013 it only has 57 thousand miles on it
I know you love the warrior. The vtx 1800, the m109r, and the vaquero.
Have you ever owned a yamaha stratoliner 1900?
I've had a handful of stratoliners and the raider. Also great bikes for sure. 😎🤙
@@JonsMotoGarage how do you find they compare all in all?
Could be an interesting topic in a vid if you get another big bore metric
I have the F model and its yhe best bike i have ever owned and probaly wont ever sell it
I am trading a 04 1200 sportster custom for a 05 vtx 1800 , i was on the fence about it, love my Harley but i really want a big bad vtx
👍 still got mine 03R VTX 1800CC
What gas tank is on your drz?
I had one for 5 years (2006-2011) it was a 2003 retro....it was way to heavy, sounded terrible even with vance & hines exaust, front and back wheels did not line up, no way to adjust, way to much play in the drive line, which gave it a " herky-jerky" feel at low speeds, maybe it was wrecked and put back together, don't know.....glad I had kept my 1995 honda shadow 1100, which I bought 20 years ago and still ride, it runs like a clock......love your channel Jon
Not "maybe" but certenly it was wreked and rebuilt.
Looking for one now. Thanks man!
Own a 2005 1800 f. Thinking about selling it. In like new condition
I miss my old vtx1800. I think it's every bit as quick as my current raider but my 04 vrod will definately walk either.
Not necessarily. How far is the race? Lol
I've walked on several vrods with my vtx non have given my a challenge yet
The vrods that you beat with your vtx must have been short shifting. Both my vtx and vrod are tuned, vrod is faster. Ive also ridden stock ones, same difference.
What do you think about Harley sport glides
I think your power numbers for the 2019 SOFTAIL are wrong. The M8 114 puts out 119 lbft and 90hp
That's less than my 02 VTX 1800s
Own one and have had it since 2003 when I bought it new. My solenoid cost me 75.00 so not sure why yours was so expensive. Had a friend trade his Harley for one. Mine is bright red like the one in the video
Well my 08 vstar 1300 smoked a vtx1800 it had drags with a tintake, mine had a slip on and drilled air filter box. But its quick thats for sure and I'm always suprised with my vstar 1300
Guy couldn't ride
@@MrSteelhrd yeah thats what it always is LMAO
@@tylerthrash3155 it simply can not happen. You might get a few metters in front when you take off,but thats all.
@@akybosule ok well we went at it plenty of times I'm s good rider still have the bike in my garage if anyone would like to give it a shot. Hey if I'm wrong im wrong but I was there I was the rider my dude who is a good rider was on the 1800 so do what you want with that info. Ivans tune is well worth the $ in a vstar 1300 tourer. Was very neck and neck a couple runs but I got him 60-70% of the time.
