Hey it’s just sometimes slow to roll out and they hold it back if there are more bugs found…. To be honest it’s best to get the updates later at least that way you’re less likely to have any problems
I have the latest update on my Model 3 and cant find anything to do with speed cameras. I drove by quite a few cameras today with no sign of them on my car's display
Yes it doesn’t seem to be very good. I did a 200 mile journey and even though I passed probably 20 cameras… only 2 showed on the map the entire journey
I’m disappointed with the update on the autopilot, is it using the cabin camera to see where you are looking ? Also, what happens if I don’t update the software at all ? I don’t want it …
I totally agree with your comments about the USS ,I m in Australia and M3H is the only choice here i ordered mine couple months ago test drive 3 times now and hated the parking sensors not overly impressed with no stalks either , liked everything else, but someone told me to look at inventory stock for the old M3 2023 and I found some great Tesla deals I got a M3 AWD $6000 cheaper then the M3H RWD I had ordered plus I get Further $6000 back for state EV incentive, couldnt be happier more range , more power better audio and faster charging and best of all indicator stalks and USS are still on the 23 M3 and Ys here.
Agree on the new parking software. It's better than the previous iteration but I only use it to get a general idea on my surroundings and don't trust it to stop me bumping into something at all. I love a lot of stuff about my Tesla but ditching things like the radar, USS and now the stalks really isn't helping things. The lack of stalks in particular means I doubt I'm buying a new Tesla unless they come back.
Agree with the parking side, it's more cool than it is useful. It consistently fails in low visibility, when it's raining heavy etc, which is exactly when you need it to work. Always found getting rid of the USS a bit odd.
It can absolutely be done with cameras. How do you think you judge distance when looking with your eyes? Ultrasonic sensors would do it too, and arguably more accurately, but to argue that it’s not possible with cameras seems unnecessarily defeatist. The switch away from USS was way too hasty though. They should have waited a while longer.
Your eyes do it with binocular vision. You might have a view from two cameras (or more) when you start to pull into a parking space but that isn't going to be the case when you are much closer to objects. It's a blunt tool that I don't think can be refined as it currently stands.
@@stephenclutton Once a distance to an object like a wall is calculated with high confidence, all they need to do is measure the speed of the car approaching the object to calculate the distance as it gets closer. All this requires is acquiring accurate distances at some point approaching an object, then being able to identify the object you’re approaching is the same object that you previously acquired the distance for. After that it’s simple mathematics.
You can judge distance, sure thing. You can’t measure something to the millimetre, and if there is any mud on the cameras it doesn’t work, where as USS does. I feel like it’s been long enough now, that Tesla have shown vision doesn’t work as well as USS. I mean build it first then change it at least
Good video. The lack of ultrasonic sensors is a really bad idea, just like the lack of rain sensors. Cameras are amazing, but those cheap and simple sensors are so much better at their specific tasks. How did I have a 2002 Megane with perfect wipers and now in 2023 we have wipers that do the opposite of what they should do. I’m worried the parking sensor issue will be the same. The new autopilot warnings seem a bit weird, as soon as I set mine onto autopilot it seems to want me to jiggle the wheel - but I have just proven I am alive by turning autopilot on! However, I’ve driven my wife’s diesel for our Christmas trip as we have to park on a road and I’m always worried about Tesla hate. It is unbelievable how much more difficult it is to drive a car with just dumb cruise control and old fashioned controls. The level of fatigue from a two hour journey versus the Tesla was a great deal more. I’ve clearly got used to an easy drive. I was hoping for a bit more of a radical change for Christmas, but no doubt I would have complained if anything had changed radically 😂
I don't understand why Tesla persists in processing video from the cameras into a 3D model and then displaying that rather than using the good old KISS approach that my wife's 10 year old Leaf uses, that of showing a top down view of the car generated from the cameras and "distorted" to give the top down effect. It's something I wish my model 3 had every time I manoeuvre it in tight spaces.
Great update - I’ve changed my lock sound to Chirp. The only trouble with Apple Podcasts is that it doesn’t sync private Patreon URLs. Tesla really need to bring back ultrasonic sensors.
USSs would be okay. But they should use radar like the old 2015 model S. Cameras can see only as well as you can see and when moving forward you need that radar. Radar in the back would be good too. If it's raining or foggy, cameras won't cut through the weather. Radar will. And of course radar can measure distance with aplomb. You can measure distance with video if it is stereo if you have two cameras. But radar would be simpler, more effective and is already an established technology.
Yes I agree it would be better to have more sensors for particular roles so it was super accurate that was one of the things I loved about the car when I first got it, it worked almost perfect 👌
Hi Mark Hope your well Re the sensors, I am with you, I also have the 21 M3LR so fortunately have them too The lack of sensors and continued issues with the wipers, poor headlights and the no sensors all are preventing me ordering a new model 3. Not to mention this no stork nonsense. Just dangerous in the UK with all our roundabouts I think Shame really as was such a Tesla fan but beginning to worry they are now just dining out on the charging network! Such great cars let down by silly stuff like this. Stop messing about with gaming software and noises and fix the basics Elun would be my view Best wishes for 2024 Dan
On the camera vs USS topic…I can’t understand why non engineers / experts would know more than them? So I would be shocked if they can’t do what they say they can do. However I do agree it’s mega annoying to have to wait so long for them to get it right
Well we’ve had well over 1 year and they still don’t work, I think they were trying to work at something which would be close… but just won’t happen (like the wiper situation!) imagine how good high fidelity would be with USS and cameras!
@@MBrown I agree that I would prefer USS - but I also accept that I really don’t know much about the physics / engineering of it. I do agree it’s taking far too long for sure
@@MBrown To be fair, we can judge distance very accurately with only our eyes - and our eyes are just cameras connected to our meat computers. The new Tesla bot demo of it picking up an egg demonstrates how well cameras can detect distance.
100% agree on the parking update, it’s just as inaccurate as before but in 3D. Will continue to use my speed camera app for now since the maps update is also pretty useless without a chime to warn you. Also considering getting a cradle so I can use google maps on my phone. The Tesla satnav sucks, often mixing up basics like left or right, wrong roundabout exit instruction and telling me to turn right when it’s a corner. Thanks for forcing us to use this crap Elon.
I often drive to Cornwall like yourself which is absolutely riddled with speed cameras, so having this working would be awesome. Not that I’m a massive speeder but they are now going after people just 1 or 2 mph over the limit, vector cameras even detect heavy breaking in the road due to sensors, in short motorists deserve to be protected from this scandal.
I like the blind spot red edging but think parking sensors are still below par. Wish they would sort the auto wiper sensors. Still so poor.
Thanks yes I agree
Have you tried ceramic wash or rain-x ? I rarely use my wipers these days.
Great video Mark. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and share this.
My pleasure! Thanks Chris! 👍

Thank you! Yes I agree, it’s one of the main things which is putting me off upgrading
Why add Apple podcast and not YTM...?
Yes that would be good!
Seems odd that they're using the cameras to produce a 3d render when they could just show the canera view, which would surely be more accurate?
Yeah I agree… just show us what they see or overlay onto a model… the current high fidelity just wobbles around, looks and acts poor
After I update the car , a few days later it offers the same update again ? Is this normal ?
Hey Rob is the number slightly different? Sometimes there are bug improvements
@@MBrownI’ll check next time , thank you .

Tesla Vision is a cost cutting exercise. Apart from this the update is great
