I don’t think of truckers as second class citizens. It amazes me that you can drive and manoeuvre those huge vehicles. I think you’re heroes.

Trucking is awful. Working nights and days.
    Start at 3am most days
    60 hours a week
Pushed to the limits by greedy employers.
Delayed everywhere by awful RDCs goods in warehouses.
Oppressed by VOSA under constant fear of fines and licence being taken. No where to take breaks. Lorry parking expensive and no where near the toilets. Threats of violence, robbery of diesel and load.
Idiot drivers, road rage. Constant fatigue.
Rule upon rule upon rule upon rule.
All just to try and earn a reasonable wage.
No more for me. I’m out!!

I think there should be more regulations on how much pressure companies put on drivers.
I’ve been doing it for a few months
And I’m surprised there isn’t more accidents and deaths on the roads because of it.
I don’t mind hard work but I hate it already, worse decision I’ve made!!!!!!

Fifteen years ago, the average age of a UK Trucker was 48 however, every three years that passes, this average age rises by one year.
The Average age is now 53 and in six years time it will be over 55 !
It is very expensive to get a Class 1 Licence , after passing you will find it very difficult to get a job as you have no experience.
No experience = no job !
Be very careful about the BS you hear regarding ( £40-50,000 ) per year crap as you will find yourself disappointed by the knock-backs as a beginner .
I wasted £2000 getting a class 1 that my agency pushed me to get for over six months, after passing they said they could not find a Firm that allowed a new passer to drive due to their insurance Firm not allowing this.
There is a very negative attitude to new drivers and this is why the Logistics industry is losing so many people each year; pissing in bottles, crapping on newspaper and washing my bum holio and willy with a water bottle at the back or side of the truck , i drove a class 2 for 15 years and i am so glad to have left now as i just could no longer cope with the rudeness of warehouse staff, employers shouting abuse at me down the phone, asked so often to drive illegally etc.
I miss the Road but would not return until these issues are changed.
UK driver training is a waste of time and money as you are treated with contempt .

I passed my car to class 1 10 months ago and still no job! Over 30 job applications and 6 agencies down to no avail. Cost me over £3000. Waste of my savings. Still stuck at my job I’ve hated for 4 years now. Depressing.

I just got my class 1 at age 20, but still drive a class 2 after no-one would hire me to drive a class 1.

    • @Wheelgooddriving

Even though i have 8 years class 2 experience, I got took my class 1 two months ago. No exaggeration it has took nearly 200 applications but i have finally been offered two jobs! I turned one down (farmfoods) and now finally have started class 1 work. It is madness, they want more drivers but their insurances prevent new passes unless they pay additional excess premiums in the remit of 10-15k extra.

Its about time the government came up with service stations for modern times . thirty pound is to expensive that why you see truck in laybi's industrial estates with no toilets. Ive never slept well parked in a lay-bi. bad sleep equal's tired driver equals accidents. Animals are better cared for then truck drivers.

Night truckers will be lucky to find any open or available to trucker toilet facilities after 2200 through to 0600 or 0800 throughout the UK including major routes....female drivers remain far below 1% as so many face verbal, sexual intimidation and general as will any disabled trucker or flid-fucker as they'll be abused from most places. Tesco hubs are particularly renowned for verbal abuse of delivery drivers and when abused, 4-6 hours 'delays' follow before being allowed to return to tip...then rejected as late.....usual games by little Hitlers in big companies.

25 years HGV driving 13 of them were class 1 and that's me done hung my keys up. A lot of it was down to the poor facilities that drivers get in this country and the attitude of the staff who you are working for or where you're delivering to is absolutely disgusting and the idiot car drivers on the road that are late for an appointment or work 🤬🤬🤬. They need to make the job more attractive to people especially the younger generation and reduce down the hours and make it more flexible for some people instead of tarnishing everybody with the same brush. Most security guards forklift drivers or warehouse staff need an absolute reality check. Some of the language that comes out of their mouth is absolutely disgusting and they are on a big power trip thinking they are something. The government needs to have a big reality check into the driving industry and change it massively otherwise the whole entire thing will collapse. Then I will have a massive laugh at all the people that used to piss off truck drivers and say trucks shouldn't be on the road because let's face it there will be nothing on the shelves to buy and there will be no computers to do online shopping so bye bye British economy and the country will collapse.
So for the average Joe bloggs that doesn't understand this remember everything you own see look at and throw away lives it's life on the back of a wagon. so no trucks no life no economy no little life's luxuries or treats. Welcome to selfish Britain things need to change for the better massively in this country regarding HGVs and HGV drivers.
Sorry for the rant but it's true and I have to say I have loved my jobs but it's just been the people behind it that have ruined it.
Happy trucking everybody and keep the backbone of Britain going 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 because when you lot stop the country will die.
STOP TREATING TRUCK DRIVERS LIKE SHIT💩💩💩.

Grimsby town centre..freshney place is a sad place to see nowadays consisting mainly of charity, tattoo, vaping, budget pound shops, nail bars and bookies. Many shops now boarded up or empty. Online shopping, business rates, out of town shopping, lack of policing and security in the town centre. Cutbacks from the government and local councils means that there are less police which in turn has lead to an increase in crime. This could've been avoided by abolishing business rates for town centre shops, free car parking, greater taxation of online businessess.... otherwise the death of the town centre is inevitable.

By the way, I have no family (anymore) and I am looking into this as a career- 1. because I love driving and 2. because I am looking to move to the USA or maybe Canada and do it over there one day. Ey up Adam, thanks for the comment. Despite my apparent moaning about it, I actually still enjoy going to work, what I'm trying to get across with the vids is some of the things that could be improved to make the job better. Yes, it can be long long hours and yes, it's easy to allow the job to become a way of life rather than just a means of earning money. I would say go for it, see if it's for you. There's lots of different HGV driving jobs out there, so if you don't like one discipline, you can quite easily try summat different.
