I feel like Cybil's presence as a reality anchor and the fact how she seems to be the only one not seeing the monsters in the game suggests that she represents the more logical and realistic intepretation of the story. The idea that instead of cults and hellish nightmares, this is all Harry's drug-induced coma or purgatory and maybe Cybil is supposed to represent the police officer Harry ran over instead of Alessa.
You know very early in development the game was planned to have 2 scenarios one where u play as Harry and one as Cybil, similar to Resident Evil. But this was scrapped and they decided to instead focus on one story.
It's a shame that she never got into the 3rd Silent Hill. Granted she was in Shattered Memories but the game wasn't much of anything other than running around

The only evidence left of her was her motorcycle, found crashed on the road to Silent Hill. It’s heavily implied to be Cybil’s motorcycle. To me that says she didn’t make it through the ordeal. If she survived I think she would’ve made an appearance in 3. But that’s just how I look at it.
I only know Cybil from the movie of Silent Hill, she's such an awesome character and her end was horrific. She was a perfect copy of the original game character 💖

It’s not canon. However, Cybil’s scenario is the only source of what Cybil would’ve done during her time in Silent Hill (beside our brief encounters in the original game) I really like Cybil and thought it would be a shame not to highlight her Play Novel experience

I understand why Cybil is a part of the story. It's a necessary symbolism. How is a child made? A mother and a father. Cheryl exited Silent Hill as a baby found by a man and a woman, a father and mother to which she could be "born". Therefore in order to be "reborn" into Silent Hill, another man and woman must come to Silent Hill together. As Alessa was raised by her mother alone and endured horrific abuse growing up, Cheryl must be raised by her father, Harry, and shown unbelievable love and care, the inverse of what Alessa went through. Only by the joining of these two halves can the god be born. Only by mirroring the conditions by which Cheryl was reborn in the outside world can Cheryl be pulled back into the world of Silent Hill. This is why in the end Cybil replaces the original mother. However, if I recall, it is stated that the true ending is just the good ending, not the good plus, where Cybil dies. This would mirror how Jodie, Harry's original wife, died after receiving Cheryl. In order to create life it seems a death is needed. A mother must die to give birth to god. I believe this is confirmed in part by Heather's hair color. Yes, her original hair color is brown or black, mirroring Jodie and Alessa before her, but it's dyed blond, the same color as Cybil's hair. In a way, Cybil's suffering and fight for this girl is motherly in a lot of ways. This, I think, is why Cybil gets drawn in. She may have other connections too. It is interesting that her parents died. This seems a common thread with folks who end up in Silent Hill. They have a tendency to have come from tragedy in some way.
I disagree about the particulars of the interpretation of the story surrounding the amusement park, though not with the conclusions. The parasite that is attached to Cybil is implied to be the same type as the one attached to the nurses and doctors in the Otherworld hospital. The parasite attaches itself to the spine of its host. (This has gruesome implications, but those are irrelevant to my counterargument and speculative in nature.) Whatever is making and dispatching those parasites is not intending to kill its victims, but to ensnare and possess them. Additionally, the purpose of Harry and Cybil going to their designated locations is to prevent the girl from marking the Seal of Metatron/Metraton (aka Mark of Samael) at that location and thus completing the sealing ritual - the one to "seal the town in darkness." Between these two points, the intention is clear - someone or something wants to put Harry and Cybil at odds with one another, to turn conflict away from their true foe and to distract them long enough to place the seal(s). Thus, killing Cybil on the carousel is considered a bad outcome. The Flauros manages to interrupt the girl while in Harry's possession, allowing Dahlia to approach her. This is implied to be something Dahlia couldn't do before. (Though this is contradicted by the scene in the Balkan Church in SH:PN as the ending of SH1 states that Cheryl and Alessa are one.) And, it's Dahlia who spirits the cast away to Nowhere. I suspect that the staircase and corridor that appear in the amusement park are a part of Nowhere, where Cybil gains consciousness after Dahlia whisks the girl away. The dreamlike nature of this story blurs the lines between what seems coherent and what seems like impossible space. Even Cybil, the grounded realist and rational confidante, succumbs to the topsy-turvy unreality that is the setting by game's end.
I really really miss her. I'm hoping she'd have a much more longer presence and a better connection with Harry Mason in any upcoming videogames. I've read all the fanfics of Harry X Cybil. No one has written any new stuff about them anymore. I wish they bring her back. Anyway, Great video man.👏

One theory of a somewhat interesting plot twist is the reason why Harry had assumed a new identity is that not only was he and his daughter (rebirthed) on the run from the cult, but also due to the fact that it could have been possible that he could be wanted for murder of a police officer, Cybil Bennet. By that I mean that we don't know entirely if her uniform had a (functional/existing) bodycam or if her motorcycle came equipped with one as well. If it did, then it could have clearly read Harry's license plate to his Jeep which may connect him to her disappearance as he was quite the contrary, the last person to see her (alive?). But this is just going by the theory of that Cybil being presumed dead according to Silent Hill: Homecoming one of the game's franchise that fans refuse to acknowledge as canon. As we already know, Cybil is never mentioned in the third.

I think the reason Cybil didn't encounter the monsters in the sewer like Harry did is because she wasn't pulled in the nightmare yet.
