This is simply insane! I hope that in ten years, this is industry standard for all new keyboards. This lifts the possibilities to play a piano onto a new level.
The extended keys aren‘t just for design :) They help to provide more balanced pressure level to the whole key. Thats helpful for professional players who use the full length.
plus the length of the key makes a big difference in how the "wiggle" motion feels. It will be smoother the longer the key is. Just imagine it being only an inch long: Wouldn't feel good at all!
Whoa this is awesome. Im just here to say thanks to Sanjay. He's been one of the guide i look up to when i need more clarification on the equpment mostly. Thank you TEACHER !
Has the Seaboard RISE not been around for seven years already? Frankly, I would prefer the year-old RISE 2 over this due to the price difference and the ability to slide rather than have a simulated one. Always the user's preference though.
I wish I could give this a second like for your playing! This feels like a breath of fresh air after all the similar looking MIDI keyboards currently on the market.
Very nice! The expressiveness of this keyboard is completely unmatched. I really hope they release a 61 key, in the future. If they don't, it will probably still end up in my Studio.
@@SanjayC Definitely! I think the desire for 61 keys is largely based on using it with some of the VST replications, out there. That said, I really look forward to trying this out.
So cool that you were able to get one. I've been eyeing it up myself as something "extra" to add to my collection for playing VSTs more expressively. I think I'll let that high of anticipation ride a little longer before pulling the trigger while I watch more videos out there. Great video as always, Sanjay. BTW, you going to NAMM this year? Looking forward to seeing what is promoted this year. If you will be there and covering it on video, I will be sure to wait for your release before anyone else's. 🙂
Hands down you play this synthesizer so eloquently! You play so intelligently it is like you invented it That being said I would love to see a producer like Scott Storch on these keys.
he plays it like the great pianist he is. i think, this instrument can be played with very different techniques to create sound which are like nothing else. he plays beautiful in the video, though. still, i think this goes way beyond what we used to know on keys regarding technique.

Expressive E’s Osmose is unique! You must be having lots of fun while demonstrating for us. I love watching you play the synthesizer! What a great video. Thanks Sanjay C.
Very cool. I'm sure there's a learning curve here but after acclimating it really does seem like it brings something new to the keyboardist's expression.
You really should do a detailed comparison video of the Roli Seaboard Rise 2 and the Osmose. I also have both but you have far more reach with your channel.
It seems like playing keyboard is now being revolutionised at first it was the seaboard which amaised me and now this one. Any way great piece of tech review from you I loved your play and the way you are demonstrating
Very cool features. I have Xpressive E's Touché and it is very fun to play with. They essentially added most of the features of Touché in a keyboard. Wow! They are true visionaries. Ahead of the pack.
Sweet, can the new features be turned off, so it can be played like a Amy other piano, and can you duo sounds or split sounds? Can it be connected directly to a combo or does it need to go to sound card before..,? Is it a waited or soft keys keyboard?
Although only 49 keys I‘d like to have it after your presentation let‘s my mouth water. One more thing: I did bring my music out into the world, but obviously it‘s not the music people want or the quality is good enough according to the hits, so even Distrokid wouldn‘t lead to success. But I‘ll keep on making the music I like … Thanks for presenting this unique keyboard!
@GAD The most important thing is to enjoy making and listening to your own music. The rest is all optionnal. Check out the latest video from Venus Theory, he talks about this subject. Keep making music as long as you have fun doing it! 😊
You're very welcome! And don't worry too much about reaching the number of plays on your music...keep making it and see who responds. If you're trying to get a different audience...research what they're listening to and try to mimic and evolve that. Keep going, GAD! We're on your side!
Keep going GAD! Music should be for you first, listeners/views/clicks a distant second. If you're trying to make money at this - your passion and enjoyment will show in the music. Artists that just push out a track focused on likes might catch a viral hit for a bit and fade into the ether - but people with staying power are those that love music and their listeners / other creators purely for the music itself. Distrokid will help spread your music to all the various platforms; which could indeed lead to more views / bandcamp visits. Don't let a view count dictate whether or not you should release your music!
It's funny, when I first saw this I got all excited, thinking the key extensions at the back formed a touch-sensitive ribbon-style controller for Theremin-like work, and then was disappointed to find that I'd been wrong. Of course, when I saw more details about what Osmose could do, it more than made up for that! I've recently ordered one, but I have to wait until at least November... :)
Wonderful video! I just got mine a few days ago and loooove it. One question for you and anyone watching, I am having trouble getting the pitch wheel to interact smoothly with soft synths - I've adjusted the wheel sensitivity on board here and it's just a bit weird. Running the latest firmware update as well...thanks for any tips!
Great video. I was in love with my roli but I had problem with two devices so decided to forget Roli. This seems to be an alternative to try. Thx for sharing.
Is the surface touch sensitive? Would be nice to see changing a parameter by moving your fingertips on the keys not only sideways but also on the length of the keys for i.e. filter effects while still having aftertouch for anything else or vice versa.

The extended keys aren‘t just for design :) They help to provide more balanced pressure level to the whole key. Thats helpful for professional players who use the full length.

What’s your view on this vs Roli Seaboard Rise 2?
Both are going to give you new kinds of expression when playing. Osmose has a more natural feel because of the familiar keys so its easier to play right away. The Rise 2 can do some things this can't. Like a wide bend right across the keyboard and back...with easier precision. You kinda gotta think of what actions you'll really do.

Прекрасный инструмент. Высший бал.
That's so cool and weird at the same time..
but, at last is it a synth or is it a controller? I hope the second 😊
how is the build quality though? and any bugs and glitches for a new board?
I didn't really structure this video like a "review," but here's my two cents: The build quality is excellent..everything feels pro...the interface is awesome. The keys are sometimes a bit noisy when you release a bend because they can brush up against each other. But its something you can learn to get around. So this is a synth.... these are built in sounds... but I don't see enough nobs for a synth.... so... how do you get the sounds in there? how do you change it? how do you create or add more sounds?
the synth engine is the haagen matrix. it's fully programmable but with computer software.
How does it play as a standard piano if ever you want to jump back to a more simple, classical sound?
This video is great in showcasing the awesome Osmose, I just want to add that the extension of the keys is not a stylistic choice, they allow you to play it like a harp. I wanted to like the video and post it elsewhere, but when you promoted those amateur imposters that call themselves distrokid, you lost me.. better choice of sponsors next time! Keep up the good work!

very awesome, I have one too, the output is a bit low though (volume), or is it just me?
I didn't find that...seems "normal" to me. How do you like yours?
Seems like a bargain but, that many independently functioning physical sensors and the mechanisms of the key movements, at this price point, gives me pause. It's a LOT that has to be ON POINT for THOUSANDS of repetitions that can be quite abusive and so, given this price point, seems development may have been rushed. My years have taught me to stay away from first gens of new things that are sporting lots of new features....especially when they come in at a bargain price point. Can't wait to see where this thing ends up.... a workhorse that will last a while or a maintenance nightmare better suited to wearing a trash bag. GREAT concept though. I'll surely be keeping my eye on it. What I'd like to know is whether or not all the sensors will stream the MIDI data independently out the USB and/or the conventional 5-pin. Or is the MIDI out limited to only say note on/off and velocity?
Pretty dope! :)
Hey Jay!! Nice to see you here! Always love your pictures on Facebook!
What about the wobbly feeling when just playing normally. Is it annoying or a sense of cheap feeling?
It doesn't feel cheap. It does take some getting used to.
I gues they'll have to redefine the midi protocol. IDK if it's possible to have polyphonic bends.
The have redefined the MIDI protocol, it’s called MPE…mid polyphonic expression
Will it blend?
LOL! I remember those videos...used to be all over RUclips
It should have a pedal to turn all the "freaky stuff" off...for when you want to play straight. Imo
🔥🔥🔥
Does this do anything that Lumi can't?
Is this MIDI controller?
Its a synthesizer and MIDI controller (synthesizer first)
wow
Can't wait for Jacob Collier to try this keyboard :)
