Got to play with one at Three Wave in NJ a few days ago. Was absolutely gutted they didn’t have any in stock because it went from “this thing is kinda on my radar” to “it’s now my life’s quest to own one” as soon as my fingers touched the key bed. One of those few instruments that demos, while great, don’t do justice to the *experience* of playing it. Killer demo (as usual) John! 🤙
Thanks much Kory! 🙂I agree, while someone can get an idea of what it might be like by watching while listening to someone else play, there is a deeper understanding once you play one for a little while, like the last couple light switches are turned on in your brain to illuminate the possibilities. 😄
I forgot to mention, keep and eye out for an Osmose for sale on forums like ModWiggler, GearSpace, etc. and I suppose eBay and Reverb too because I've already seen a few people sell theirs right away, either played it once and didn't care for it or even sold it unopened!
I hope so!, in terms of true game-changing expressivity 🙏. Mine's been on backorder since end last year, as part of 2nd phase shipments so told now due early June ... not long to go now!!!! 🎉😎👌🎹💥
Agreed, I think the presets are great. 👍 I've read people's comments on the forums that they don't like the presets or the sound engine in general but ya can't please everyone! ;-)
Great playing and sounds combo. Fun accessories for this synth engine include analog saturation, an expression pedal (often there's something cool pre-mapped to it) and a continuous damper pedal (especially for sostenuto, to hold a chord with one hand, and change its volume with the pedal, while soloing over it with the other hand). That's stuff I learned playing the Continuum. This video is nice, to hear your interpretation of the presets made for the Osmose. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks much Adam, I appreciate the compliment and tips! 🙂I haven't hooked any pedals up to it yet as I need to rework my keyboard setup still. (the Osmose is a little too tall and wide for where I was going to put it!)
Thank much, Noir! 🙂Are you thinking of getting an Osmose? I bet with your excellent keyboarding chops and musicality you could work wonders with one! 😎👍 Maybe Perfect Circuit will at least let you borrow one to do a demo at some point?
hehe, I'm tempted to say "YES, EXACTLY LIKE A STEINWAY!" just so a mob of offended concert pianists will attack me and generate a lot of "engagement" on this video so the RUclips algorithms will promote it more, but . . . I'm not that evil . . . or am I? 😈😁 Seriously, It maybe feels "somewhat" like an acoustic piano but with a lighter touch and a longer thrown and . . like there are fresh marshmallows under each key? Just barely touching the keytops can generate notes and besides the deeper layer poly after touch there is also the side to side detection that can be used for vibrato and modulation etc. It's like a normal piano is 2 dimensional and the Osmose is 3 dimensional?
I gotta imagine you'd have to be playing that with a huge grin on your face every time you hit a different preset that just seems like it shouldn't come from a keyboard. Every time I see you go up and down the black section in the back, I know I'm grinning like a fool

Finally, a synthesizer with interesting factory presets!

Ah, I see you have the sostenuto going already! Cool beans!

@@GizzyDillespee heh, likely just dumb luck that I stumbled on that?! 😅
Sounds incredible, John.
Thanks Tom! 🙂While the over 3 year wait for the Osmose was hard, it was WELL worth the wait! 👍👍
4:37 like that one for film scoring possibilities !
Indeed! I'm sure lots of film composer folks have purchased this keyboard! 🙂
Very nice expressive demo 🙂
Thank you! 😉
Hey John! Great video 😊

buy one Noir, damnit 🙂
sounds great - getting mine later this month after a small mix-up
Thanks! 🙂 Sorry you had to wait even longer for yours 😕 but I guess after 3+ years a few more weeks isn't going to hurt too much more? 😅
so does it feel like a studio Steinway

@@JohnLRice LOL I did notice the Haken connection

😁Indeed! 😁 It's totally fascinating, surprising, and fun to explore! 👍👍
