  • Today, I look at an iconic cine film, Eastman Double-X 5222, released in 1959 and hasn't changed. It was among the first cine films I shot through my still cameras. A lot has changed since then, with availability plus being produced in 120 formats for CineStill. It has become a fast favourite as a good general-purpose film that can do almost anything and works for almost every developer.

It’s an awesome film! Next film review is Harman Phoenix which will be a different format. But a full field test video will be Adox CHS100II! Thanks for the kind words and for watching 🍸

I really like this film on 120, it reminds me the late 80's/90's Tri-X (managed to pick some rolls expired in very good conditions recently). On 35 I find it interesting but it really shines on 120, I believe. I've developed it with D96 and 510 Pyro with nice results. My, unfortunately in photographic terms, has kept me away from the lab for the last months, so I haven't had the opportunuty to print the negs. But they look very nice, have lots of information on both high and low values. I don't have a 120 scanner so, to fill my curiosiity, I do a not that best method: photograph them on a light table with my iPhone and invert the image with Photoshop. The results showed promising :)
Thanks for the video, nicely produced as always, I'm also a big fan of James Bond and that Casino Royale scene is memorable!

Oh yeah, D96 and 510 are favourites also! The camera scanning seems to be a good option! Thanks for watching 🍸

I've been shooting this stuff before it became the thing to do now. I'm still shooting 16mm and been using what you can't get today is Microdol-X by Kodak and some home made Pyro 510 🤩

Oh nice at the 16mm! And I’ll bet it looks amazing in Microdol-X! LegacyPro produces a version called Mic-X that is an exact duplicate of the original. Thanks for watching 🍸

Thanks for putting this wealth of information together for the world. I mainly use FPP-110 (HC clone)and like my results. But if i decide to switch it up, I'll definitely come back to this video!

I just love Double X. The tonality it brings out is something I've not found with any other film to date. I've not shot it in medium format as yet, but maybe I'll try it this year.

*SPLOOSH* That R09 with Double-X! Thank you for that, I have a roll of BWXX in my bag to shoot through the 6x12 back for my 4x5, and I think I will wait until I am able to make it to Beau and pick up the R09.

@@AlexLuyckxPhoto I have a super wide lens for the 4x5 on loan to me from a friend for a few months, so I want to use that 47mm XL with the 6x12 back and my river spot. So, something to keep an eye out for.
