Hey Mike. Whattya hear whattya say on base pay for DD? According to their site, they don't adjust base pay based on customer tips, but I've got some empirical evidence that suggests otherwise. If you're interested, hit me up. Thanks for the work you do here.
I’ve noticed in my sub zone that dashers with sub 90% completion rate have been getting less dashes, and I’ve been getting more. The dashers in this area are pretty tight knit and many of them have told me they’ve switched Uber eats.
9:17 You know you can click on the items before you accept and it will show you what they are. That is really important for places like Lowe's where you want to know how big the items are before accepting.
My hourly for shop and pay is significantly worse than food delivery. There are too many things that can go wrong and cause a delay. The last order I did an employee told me all my items were out of stock when they weren't! They just didnt know where they were. A manager eventually helped me after wasting a lot of time 😢
As long as it isn't a ridiculous amount of items, I like shop and deliver. It's a nice change of pace and the dollars per mile are usually much better than regular deliveries. I had one yesterday that was almost $20 for a delivery less than a mile away! Yeah, it was around 30 items, but it was an Aldi and many of the items were multiple units. I think it took a total of 30 mins.
It was exactly what I thought it was going to be lol, needs better item rack signage like IKEA with pictures and arrows on the specific shelves but I guess they're not really thinking about shopper speed per se
4:10 I do a good bit of shopping. It’s almost all at dollar general. For me it’s often quicker to shop than it is to wait at a restaurant for an order to be ready. The problem is dollar general has stock issues. DG customers generally won’t respond to messaging or calls which can be good or bad. My numbers aren’t as good as they should be. Over all for me shopping tends to pay a little bit better.
@@YourDriverMikeI try and set guidelines to my madness. For example nothing less than a dollar per item and no more than 10 miles unless it’s a larger offer like $40 and up. Also no shopping if it’s under $10 unless it’s like 3 items for $8 and within a few miles. I always take time and money into my decision making. I know my routes and stores in my area so that helps. I try and average $25-$30 an hour. The best advantage for shopping is it’s less driving in your car! Especially with all the bad drivers out there.
The reason I like shop and deliver is you can build up the skill of doing it. After a while the shopping experience becomes easy and the earnings potential is higher than restaurant orders. I’ve learned how to be decisive in the handful of situations that come up. Plus I’ve been getting quadruple DoorDash stacks lately! I don’t think that’s possible with restaurant pickup orders. Go driver team!
I love Shop & Deliver! Monday and Sunday I try to do only shopping orders across all of my 5 apps. Make more money, drive less miles. Just wish the stores had WiFi that worked…
Only take 9 items or less on shop. Sometimes few more if the pay is right. I love Spark because you get a road map on the app. Easy to find the groceries..
What I don't like about the shopping is if the store is out of something you refund it it hurts your % and then you will get less shopping orders. Sometimes the app won't recognize the barcode and you have to refund another % hit and less shopping orders .
@YourDriverMike You're welcome! I have only been doing this for a few months. I'm a former programmer so playing "press buttons, see what happens" is compulsory.
I don't mind Shop and Deliver, I just won't take anything with a large amount of items unless the price is nice. Our last SnD was a quick 6 item, then an add on for 2 more items to another customer who was about a block and a half away from the first.
Market District is a massive store in the Cleveland Suburbs. The rest of the stores from that corporation are just called Giant Eagle. Both stores use the same rewards card. Giant Eagle and MArket District are from PA. I just love how Doordah sends me an order when the store is about to close. I had to race against the clock on a Giant Eagle and an Aldi order and got it. I feel more relaxed when I get Meijer orders at night. The Cleveland market can get weird. I'm not a fan of working the East Side, but Halloween night paid like a slot machine. Personally, I prefer to work the West side of Cleveland, by the airport and the NASA Space Center. There is another DASHMART close to that location the most people are unaware of.
I'm pretty new at it was wondering why I set forever 92% acceptance rate I turned down a few that were 2-4 bucks..... Waiting for 1 an hour makes sense
@TheMark9013 get ready for a lot of stress and manipulation. I was a Top Dasher and Platinum Driver for 4 years and I have to say that 70% of those years were good. When they start sending you $3 offers at the height of the big order time, your acceptance rate will drop like a rock. I still have a 5.0 approval rate but get trash. Down to Silver. And I don't care anymore.
I average 25 plus an hour cherry picking. I'll never buy into taking horrible orders. Gas and wear and tear in your vehicle is worth at least 2.50 per mile. They should just say that if you don't tip, your order can take way longer to deliver as a driver has to accept your order.
I did 2 shop and delivers on GH today 1st time with GH. Made a total of $48+ for a total of 14 items. One was 4, and one was 10 items. I feel like GH pays more, but the orders are few and far between.
It does take more time, but in Chicago Shop and deliver pays much better than food delivery. I do 80% shop and deliver and 20% delivery from restaurants. I find Shop and deliver more relaxing and I don't have to worry about parking. I have learned not to accept orders with more than 20 items. But an order with one item is usually about $6 or $7 dollars, Orders of 10 items are between $10 and $20.
I don't mind shop and deliver, they pay well in my area, but definitely cherry pick them $2.5 to $3 per mile. I get orders for Sprouts and Aldis from the same customers at least once a week and they pay really well. Always look at the item list before declining high item orders. I've taken a few "high item" orders like 30 items, and when I look at the items, its like 10 Bananas, 5 tomatoes, 5 apples, and 10 random. Restaurant Depot is the worst. Did it once, never again, did pay well though
Yeah never again for Restaurant Depot, took forever and had no idea where stuff was. Plus the pleasant freezing section 😂 I used to work at Walmart so I've been in frozen coolers before but we had jackets sitting outside
fun tip for shop and delivers for deliveries.. keep some cashback coupons on your phone because you can use those receipts for some cashback rebates. I've actually done quite well in those kind of bonuses.
what i hate about shipt is that you have to go the extra step and do the whole tax exempt procedure... in publix, you have to have a supervisor come over. In lowes, it's easier but still have to manually enter the tax id for shipt on the screen.
It's been pretty decent here, I typically shop at two locations. At least they don't have tons of potential substitutions so you don't have to worry about 6 different alternatives.
I have been trying to get a FREE pizza bag. Pizza Hut and Papa John's always say they have none! I went to MARCO'S PIZZA earlier and the GM gave me a DoorDash one. Super excited! See if you have one in your area. 😁
Dont shop n deliver around my area in CT the first 2 weeks of the month... the checkouts lines are long and walmart always has about 4 registers open with like 12 registers closed. Smfh
I finally turned off shop & deliver last week, it soaks up too much time. Also, speaking of boost pay, I saw a new drivers map and it is full of boost pay while my map had none. I guess DD doesn't care if they screw veteran drivers just as long as new driver get all the love.
I only shop at the small drugstores & Liquor stores. It's much faster. Sorry u got screwed. If u know u know. I guessed right amt of time on your first 2 orders. Customers should always put substitutions.
I've been out of the gig work economy for about a year now and have regular job now, but I remember picking out flower bouquets, picking out birthday cards, spending an hour on a shopping order and was so stressed when my phone battery died so when I charged it in my car for a few the half full basket of hard to find items was gone, had to start over, have to use logic to buy non freezer, refrigerated items last etc, I had over 5000 UBER food deliveries and not sure how many painful shopping orders, I do miss the freedom of UBERing sometimes, I enjoyed working till 3am ish kind of relaxing for me.
I have several videos going over Solo's features. I'm partnering with them for some sponsored content. I've used Everlance as well, solid app with basic features. I haven't used Gridwise but I've heard good things.
@zarbon700 you're absolutely right. And until most dashers get together and refuse it (which will never happen) it will always continue. This is all extra play money for me so I can afford to cherry pick and strictly only accept $2 per mile minimum.

I find that the number of delivery runs is a hard limit on how many can be completed. 18 minutes to shop then another 18 to 30 minutes to deliver .. most i can see being done per hour is 2 shop and deliver. Dont see any profits made taking everything
There is a dizzying variety of sizes snd varieties of so much stuff that it takes forever sometimes, and you get docked if you don’t find the exact item.
