I did my own variation of the one length. I keep my 3 4 and 5 irons variable length, and I changed my 6 iron thru sand wedge to 6 iron length. Worked wonders for my game.
love my new one lenght irons! once i got used to them i went from 25hc to 18hc just from striking the ball more consistent with the same setup for swing path..
I have built my own set using the Cobra One LTDx heads 4 and 5 iron. In these I have high launch graphite shafts. Then I use Cobra Forged Tec 2020 heads in 6, 7, 8 and 9. The 6 iron also have a high launch graphite shaft and the 7, 8 and 9 has a Wishon SLS shaft that is tipped to give me right spin and ball flight. Then I use the first gen Cobra Forged Tec as PW and GW also with Wishon graphite adjusted to fit me. The SW and LW is Cobra One Snake bite with steel shaft KBS 125 High Rev. I have exactly 10 meters(11 yards) between all the clubs. Started my One Length journey at hcp 5. Now scratch and club champion on my club. Record round last year at 66 (par 72). Made 6 HIO’s in the last 6 years. So this shit works if you know what you are doing. 😀
I think it’s a great point that you can mix and match if you want. For all full and knockdown swings I grip my one lengths the same. Then for anything within 100 yards I’ll grip down on my one length wedges
I've been lucky as within my first half year of playing golf I switched to single length and will never switch. Now at year 4. In the Netherlands we have also just new the Dutch championship one length and we will also participate to this second edition. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@@GolfBusters Yes it is. Thus drivers, fairway woods and non one length hybrids not allowed. Very pure and great fun. This years 2nd edition is already booked and we will be competing again. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I use one length EQ1-NX 8i-LW. Then variable up to 3W. Love the same length, same middle of feet ball placement, same swing for all my six loftiest irons. Game changing short game. Choke up on LW out of sand, and voila. all is good. Im a 12.5 hdcp for the record. Looking to get a driver and putter fitting to get to a 9 hdcp this summer, cant wait!
Both these guys have really strong grips. Meaning they deloft they're irons which explains the extra distance on a 7 iron. But not much extra distance on a 5. One of tbe guys even said he opens the face of his 5i to get the right launch. With a more neutral grip they would hit the 7i higher but not as far, but better for approach. And i suspect that would deal with the gaping issue
Agreed on the outcome. Key i found is that much easier to find the middle of the face more often with OL. So I get less distance drop off. Been gamin OL for over a year now and wont be changing back to VL
You can cut down an iron from it's original length. Clubs are designed to be able to go up or down half an inch, some times an inch depending on the model. You just need to make adjustments to the swing weight and loft/lie accordingly. If you cut down a 4 iron from 38.50 to 37.00 you would throw in a tip weight or just apply lead tape. Bend the lie to a comfortable angle and make lie changes if necessary. Cutting down is easy but adding length is why you can't make any set into a single length. Things will get tricky really quickly. You could attempt it with butt weights.
Yeps, nice test and love it that you tried it out. There is more than you think in the concept. Cobra is unfortunately the only big brand known for it. I game the Pinhawk SL which have traditional loft and loft gaps are with even increments. This is also the same for the Wishon and 1Iron. The Cobra's are strong lofted and they have done variables with the lie angles. Would like you to take more in account. But great to see some extra attention on it. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I definitely want to do more videos so try them. I just sold these clubs and upgraded to the one length forged and have been loving them. Would love to compare launch angles, descent angles, and more.
Great irons. Weighting is excellent. The one length is great to limit the need to adjust body position for club use. Excellent for those with decreased or decreasing flexibility and mobility. I’d have cobra do a 2 and 3 iron about an 1” longer than the 5 through wedges. Then also add a chipper, and 56, 58, 60, 62 to the line at the same length as the 5-9 irons. I’d also do the hybrids 3, 4, 5 the same as the 2, 3 irons I suggested above 1” longer than the 5-9 irons. That would be my ideal full set. As far as fairway woods 3,5 I’m not sure the ideal length but I’d alter the bottom a little to make them better off the fairway and the rough.
I switched to one length and will never go back. They simplify the game by making you hit the ball from exactly the spot every time. No more guessing if you have the right ball position
@@GolfBusters They're a custom fit direct to consumer golf brand here in Illinois just west of Chicago. I just asked them on twitter and sadly they don't do the single length clubs.
as goalie dad mentioned. Try Wishon EQ1-NX if dont fancy cobra's. Or if you play blades then Edel SLS-01 are lovely if you can get hold of a 2nd hand set.
I think I'm gonna switch to one lengths this season. I bought my Rogue X's new and I've had so much trouble with the difference in club lengths, especially off of tricky lies.
they do if you dont have enough swing speed. The answer to that is OL hybrids 5/4/3 - which are just ridiculously easy to use especially the 5 OL Hy Which i've tested but not bought yet. I play OL radspeeds. I have enough speed to hit my 5 (90 chs), but i use OL 4 and 3 hybrids after that.
It’s really about ball adjustment I had similar issue with mine until I tinkerered around with ball angle if I need higher flight The hybrid one length helps as well
Cobra didn't recently perfect the science. Wishon and other companies have been doing this much longer. You should try the EQ1-NX or at least read up on how he's designed them...

Agreed, I love one lengths as well and don’t really see the down sides. When you are on with One Length clubs you are ON
I use PW, 9 and 8 in standard length (Mizuno HMP) and 7, 6, 5 and 4 hybrid in Cobra One Length LTDX. Totally success!! pretty consistent stroke

I went to one length two years ago. From 3 hybrid all the way to 60 degree. Shaved many strokes off my game.
Definitely makes you feel more confident only having to master one swing

When is this championship and can anyone join? I’m planning a golf trip to Europe this year. I play F9 OL 6 hybrid all the way to an Agera Ol putter.
Is this a one length championship

What is the loft comparison between the clubs. From what I seen in spec charts, the Cobras are much stronger lofts than I would want to play.
Makes sense to me to minimize changes in your swing between clubs.
excited to build my own set with an old set I have lying around to see how it all goes! Just a cool concept project on Nike Pro Combo's I still have.
It is hard to get everything weighted right but once you do I’m sure you’ll love it!
@@GolfBusters any suggestions on variance for weight between clubs? Like what are the acceptable tolerances?
Bobby jones played 1 length irons & i believe mo norman used them as well
to make a true comparison you need 1 player hitting both clubs who's to say both these players hit the exact same length as each other
What an amazing video guys! Really interesting🎉
Thanks!!
This video exemplifies the advantages of the one lengths.
Also if you get forged clubs and get a gapping session with a fitter you would really resolve the issues
I have forged ones now!
Thank you for this post.
Playing “grouped” one lengths.
Has made a huge difference in improvement and rate of improvement.
What are your groupings?
2 iron to 5 iron - same length. 6 iron to gap wedge - same length. Wedges and chipper same length.
I kinda wonder if going to a place like Sub70, if they would be able to setup these clubs correctly like Cobra does.
I haven’t heard of sub 70, do they do a lot of club adjustments? Similar to a golf galaxy?

Which model Cobra One Length are you testing. Two years ago I think the two one-length models were the Radspeed and the Forged Tec.
So this was the model the year before but I just bought the OL forged tecs!
The one in this video is the speedzones
thanks
Cutting down a club should be no different than choking up like you're hitting a pitch. The correct Ball position will change though.
So technically it does change the swing weight a little bit but probably not that much.
Other great brands for 1 length would be Edel and Wishon
I'll have to check them out!
Edel SLS-01 a better single length set has yet to be made…
