This scene flew over alot of peoples heads where they just didnt understand it... Inside Mexican narco culture there is a known fact that youre not a real narco until you have your own corrido song.. This stage of the show really visualized that Heisenberg had become a renown and infamous name in the drugbusiness, even in Mexico.
I briefly lived in Mexico and This is so accurate. A lot of Mexican Bands actually do this and make these amazing songs telling the stories of cartel leaders that it’s akin to folklore when you hear them. Pretty cool how they did that In the show!
In the audio commentary, Vince Gilligan points out that this is a band that writes these types of songs for cartel clients, and as a result, they had to be careful not to write a song that made some gringo look tougher than the Mexican cartels... that's why the whole song is about how Heisenberg, while producing an impressive product, is doomed because he is weaker than the cartels, who will inevitably overwhelm him. In other words, they were able to flatter their regular customers in a song that received massive attention and replay. Smart!
I’d imagine long after the events of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul that this song still echoes throughout Albuquerque, keeping the memory of Heisenberg alive.
Very realistic to our world. That’s how it is in Mexico and places in the US with heavy Mexican influence. I hear corridos about drug lords from 30 years ago just walking down the street.

I remember hearing this song as a child on Casey Kasem's top 40 radio program. I think it peaked at number 6 on the charts. The group was the first band from Mexico to have a top 40 American hit on the pop charts. Sadly, they were a one hit wonder as the members of the band died at the peak of their careers when they tragically all fell out of their first story hotel room windows to their deaths. Local Mexican police stated it was suicide although no letters were left behind and fellow guest at the hotel that night reported hearing what sounded like shouting and fighting. Police dismissed these claims stating it was a fellow hotel guest watching an action movie with the volume turned way up. Recently, VH1 did a documentary about the band and found out they had signed a contract with a then new Mexican record label, Sinaloa Cartel records which gave virtually all of the profits from record sales and concert profits to the record label. It was reported band members were unhappy with the contract and were trying to get out of it. VH1 is reportedly going to make a TV movie about the band's rise to fame and tragic deaths by suicide with Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias and Donald Trump's son, Baron playing the band members.
