I still get a fair few requests for more from the Planets Suite, so here is what I consider the next most obvious option for an arrangement in this style. I know it is easy enough to get hold of the audio in other ways but if you'd like to support the channel and the huge amount of effort that goes into these arrangements then please consider purchasing the track from my bandcamp page - joeparrish.bandcamp.com/track/uranus-the-magician As per usual now every note in the score is represented here on guitar or bass, the only exceptions being in the percussion and timpani parts which were programmed or represented in the modern drum part. I always liked this movement but looking at it in depth made me like it even more, it is kind of twisted and maniacal in a very appealing way that works really well for this style, and the dark aspect made it an easier translation than the Jupiter arrangement. Enjoy!
You're immensely talented, I love these and have for a long time. Any hopes for Shostakovitch's 10th, the second movement? That'd be *killer* with your arrangements
To be completely frank, my preference would be to purchase a completed, physical CD (actually 2 copies, as I have thorougly entranced my father!) of all of your arrangements, rather than a piecemeal of mp3s.
I've been listening to The Planets a lot this year, first a lot of Jupiter, and lately a lot of Uranus, so this turning up when I searched for a guitar cover and having been released just recently was a serendipitous synchronicity. This is epic, both technically brilliant and with high attention to detail. Bought it on Bandcamp immediately; well-deserved money.

Wow, that was really incredible! I'm usually not a fan of classical pieces done in modern styles, but this is a brilliant job. Somehow this felt like it stayed faithful to the style and feel of the original, almost like this was how it was meant to be pleased. Bravo, Sir!
Just beautifully performed. I listened the original orchestral work infinite times. It's amazing how you could cover it with only two guitars. You're quite a spiritual person (no materialistic at all). Gustave Holst's ghost would extremely love it !!!!!
I would also love to see all seven movements on your channel. I don't think they'd all have to be "metal", though, just metal influenced. At this point I certainly trust your arrangement skills to pull it off. 🙂
Joe, this is AWESOME work. I've loved the Planets nearly my whole life and wished that someone would put together an epic metal version. You have nailed it and I thank you!!!!
Man THe Planets is one of my fav albums of all time and I love your covers. Please don't stop making these! Would love to see the whole album covered eventually.
I really struggled to keep on with college stuff because your rendition is super cool! Impossible not to thrash to. Thanks for this, I'll be avoiding your channel whenever I need not to procrastinate lmao.
Truly amazing. You have somehow captured and reinterpreted the complex orchestral textures in a way that is fresh and interesting. I got goosebumps! How long did this take you Joe? Thank you for this wonderful piece.
You are a real genious Sir!I know the planets suite since i was a little kid, this classical masterpiece has become almost a part of my dna,I always wondered how it would be on electrical guitar, although i play for 30 years guitar,i never had the courage and patience to figure this out,it is lliterally a dream that comes true, very great job!!
Wow, this one just so naturally fits the genre - sounds amazing and brilliantly executed. (this makes me really want to push on with my own Uranus and Neptune now...)
When it comes to remixes and remakes of songs, I'm EXTREMELY picky in regards to how the remix is structured. I prefer songs that match the cadence and melody of the original, and have similar timbres and emotions to the originals. Pleased to report that this exceeds my desires! Only thing I would've done differently is, at 3:20, instead of just silence, I would've done a massive guitar shred where the Bass Drum hit would've been.
What other planets could possibly translate to electric guitar? Neptune and Saturn are out, right? Probably Venus too. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Uranus is about all that can be done.

Can't wait for the rest of these. Also, I am sure you hate this, but what about Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet? It has a few great bits!

@@worcestershirey Oooooooh, Shostakovich 10, movement 2 is amazing!!! Underrated imo

I'm glad you found the video at the right time, and thank you, I really appreciate it.
I am stealing "serendipitous synchronicity"

@@JoeParrish Uranus does make a lot of noise
The introduction of the motif at 0:13 is so fucking metal it hurts. Amazing.
This is rad af. I was listening to this song and thought "there has to be a rad metal cover on RUclips" and here I am
Another planet, another masterpiece. Amazing job, Joe. Keep them coming.

2:15 is probably my favorite part
It's the part for the two sets of timpani.
You really nailed every detail of this piece. Just an incredible achievement.
You are very good at crafting the equivalent of varying orchestral textures with electric guitar.

YES!

It'd be interesting to see how he would do Neptune.
@@zvferguson Neptune and Venus would both be challenging to do metal style. Maybe a more low-key acoustic cover would be appropriate? Idk
Stephen Putnam yeah definitely. Maybe building up to it and then coming back down.
@@zvferguson I'm eager to watch his fingers fly over the fretboard as he rips through Mercury, The Winged Messenger =]
I have listened to the Isao Tomita version a million times. You really made this track swing.
Ahhhh--- that void at 3:53--- ENTROPIC AS FK
This is amazing! Listening to your arrangements is the only time that I actually enjoy "metal" music.
Same bro

Dude this is my favorite Movement from the Planets suite!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!
Amazing work. I've been waiting forever to see Uranus.
A fellow Canadian! Great job with this arrangement.

Perfect... My favourite!
The ending had me completely transfixed. The was amazing
Perfect rendition!!! Absolute treat to my ears. Thank you!!!
Saturn, please.
Yes
I'm getting Mega Man vibes from this. Awesome job!! I would love to see you tackle Scriabin's Prometheus: Poem of Fire.
Sooo.... Uranus is magical *giggles*
Really good cover, can’t wait to see what you put out next
Brilliant as ever! Congrats on another great job👍👍

UR the Magician! JP Absolutely fantastic.
Great, great job!
The Planets' saga goes on
Fantastic version of one of my favorite pieces in one of my favorite genres. :) Awesome job!
Btw,the intro of ,"i m a evil" from the oldskool metalband Diamond head was the closest to how I would interprete Mars
Wish you the best!!
OH.....!!!!!! MY........!!!!! GOD..........!!!!! 😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
Incredible, man!
Fabulous.
This cover is amazeballs
I know its a ton of work but please please complete the Planets as a full suite.
Uranus is magical
HELL YES
Would you consider the final movement of Ravel's string quartet?
Amazing job!
You’re awesome!
And now...the Brandenburg Concerto
I want to fight this one dislike

Love this Channel🥵😍
Nice!
To my ear this sound very Mike Oldfieldish.
Excellent ass always! Keep up the good work!
This might even be better than the original

Just found this, but gotta admit I love it a lot. Hopefully, you could do Saturn? I feel like it’s slow so idk if you’d be able to “metalize” it
The tempo would be slower, true... but imagine the power chords for those syncopated chimes =]
Doom Metal and Funeral Doom Metal are legit things, so you can do slow metal
Saturn plissss
Sounds like Jarzombek
There's no way he can play Mercury the Winged Messenger. It's too fast!
PLEASE MERCURY
OK queue up the Uranus jokes........
