- The Planets - VI. Uranus, the Magician - Gustav Holst
Susanna Mälkki, Conductor
BBC Symphony Orchestra
The Proms 2015
Royal Albert Hall, London
July 27, 2015 - Видеоклипы
This is the most underrated out of all of the pieces
Especially when its played with this much energy; too many interpretations take it sooo slow
@@v_munu Me too. It's supposed to be whimsical and bouncy but I hate it when it's slow
Vouch. My favorite is Jupiter but Uranus is so so underrated
yeh definetely. Everyone likes jupiter for some reason. my fav is mars but number is this.
@@saralines Jupiter is amazing, it's just REALLY overplayed.
The best part is the beginning, when everyone is forcing out all their coughs before the music begins. Little did they know, they could cough throughout this piece and nobody would hear them.
Jajaja 😂 es cierto
Anyone else want this entire suite to be in a fantasia film?
Now THAT would be amazing!
It kinda reminds me of the Socerers Apprentice mickey segment, very appropriate
@@jrgrimm6091it might interest you that "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" may have inspired this movement, being that Gustav Holst and Paul Dukas were alive around the same time
Well this part was based off the sorcerer's apprentice
Terrific interpretation of this piece. The conductor is fantastic.
The conductor's playfulness and energy fits right in with the song
Fast pace and risk taking! ruclips.net/video/bOfeJNMfGE0/видео.html
3:27 SLAPS SOO GOOD
great mustache !! 0:48
Surprisingly you're not the first one who talks about that moustache
@@me_is_hobo there’s comments about it on the video of them playing Mars 😂
LOL yes ruclips.net/video/bOfeJNMfGE0/видео.html
It's philologic
Hell fucking yeah! Lol
This melody is full of the unfathomable mysterious atmosphere that invigorates human spirit
4:57 I couldn’t stop listening to the Bass Trombone explosion.
Me to
One of my favorites of that whole musical saga. I just love that playful/mysterious atmosphere. And that conductor looks like she's on fire! Freaking awesome.
I'm having a bassoon swoon watching this.
A basswoon
That conducting is pure ballet!
I don't care what you say, the euphonium is perfect for playing The Planets!❤
I’d pay good money to rock the timpani in this piece.
True so I tried playing this in a Timpani but I can't cuz I can't go that fast
1:50 goosebumps every time. incredible
Omg same
Ikr
This was used a few years ago as the bumper music for a UFO documentary about Roswell and other UFO sightings. Came out in the mid 90's.
Yeah like 30 years is a few for you. I was born in 2003
I've always really loved wind instruments, and Uranus delivers nicely.
Simply outstanding. Just as well as the London Symphony Orchestra. Great presence from the upper-low brass, a traditionally weak section in bands. at least, with intonation.
Edit: I like the "expected" sound delay. The microphones must have been in the back of the hall.
Me too. ruclips.net/video/bOfeJNMfGE0/видео.html
For some reason, I associate this movement specifically with WW1.
3:55 insane
3:14 is my fav part with the dotted half notes
The planets is a great lullaby of the universe
0:37 the quarter notes that the strings release on is so smooth and sharp!
An incredibly rich piece of music, very well played.
One of my favourite song at this suite
My Personal Favorite!
5:25 bro is figuiring out a mystery
OMG. Who's that conductor? That's what Id like! She got the magic 🎩! What's her name! Who is that?! That was awesome!!!!
Susanna Mälkki
@@dolphinbanana3053 I know🤭😁. I just wanted people to see her name again. She has a very nice commanding presence and technique
Yes!!!❤❤❤
Fantastical and wondrous!
Everyone has so much expression!
PERCU-POWER!!! 🥁💥⚡️
Great pace. Love it
3:25 is my favourite part
LOVE THIS
Does anyone remember the „Elephants parade“ of the original „Dumbo“ movie? This masterpiece reminds me at this scene in the movie…
1:25 is the good part!
It sure is!
as a bass trombone player my favorite part is EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (4:57)
@@SilverAg11 I agree
@me_is_hobo I’m a French horn player and this is my favourite classical piece and favourite part
Probably just me being biased but I just love this tuba solo 2:02
I have never seen an English horn bocal like that, also any piece with contrabassoon is goated
its a bass oboe you are most likely talking about
If you dislike this then how do you understand music? Btw this is really cool piece especially for tuba
This is so underrated what the heck
It is!!
2:32 goosebumps✨ and then again at 3:26 🤩
Женщина-дирижёр - супер! 👍
🎉👍
Am I the only one that imagines a bunch of wind turbines spinning a round while listening to this?
(Like or Reply if you do please)
I imagine an increasingly complicated Rube Goldberg machine
I imagine clay golems forming out of the earth and playing wind instruments.
No
Timpani man gets me all excited. :0
Yeah
Very excentric
4:57 thats some james bond shit
2:23 the timp part is so good!!!!!
Not the low brass farting at 4:57 😂
Shut up
2:16 timpani
2:22 is easily the best part
why u looking at the comments get n the jamboard
1:13 2:13
2:58 percussion scares players

Just casually the hardest timpani part known to mankind

2:42
wonderful timpani part
1:25
Interesting to note that not one instrumentalist at any point in the performance looks at the conductor. She’s a passenger.
The conductor has been possessed

Gandalf the grey.
And Gandalf the white and Monty Python and the Holy Grail's Black Knight
& Benito Mussolini, & the Blue Meanie

@@me_is_hobo
What is wrong with it?
hola para los de clase de sexto
She's rather lively isn't she?
I love the piece, but the title is vulgar
What about it? It's from an album where every Planet was personified, not Holst's fault the planet was unfortunately named. As far as his part's concerned, there's nothing cheeky going on here.
@@ethanotoroculus1060 Uh, friend? It was a joke. Ur-anus... get it? Please, tell me you got the joke I don't need to lose faith in humanity.
