Laura and I singing our cover of "I've Got This Friend" by the Civil Wars. I'd say that the best part of this video is definitely the bloopers at the end, so be sure to watch it all the way to the end! Also.........we're big dorks :)

Everyone knows Mars and Jupiter but this piece is the one I think that sounds most like boss music. The section at 4:41 especially makes me think of Bowser and of Final Fantasy.

2:50 gives me flashbacks to Cybertroopers Virtual-On Force. This playing at the end was a triumphant way to conclude the that trilogy.

If you liked this song, check out “O God beyond all praising.” Even if you’re not Christian, it has beautiful lyrics to this piece.

mmmm, sort of like Orff meets Adams. But in the cases of those composers, there is something significantly sophisticated and elegant about their independent approach to and usage of repetition, and how they individually found their own personal way to use repetition to form fresh and rewarding musical forms. This piece just feels formless - in that way, it reminds me more of Schwantner's use of repetition - spinning and swirling, but neither going on an interesting journey nor arriving anywhere fulfilling and rewarding. To quote Shakespeare "...Sound and fury, signifying nothing..."

Hear the famous heartwarming Jupiter tune at 2:47. "Thaxted" is its hymn tune name. This tune is known by other names: "I Vow to Thee, My Country" "O God Beyond All Praising" "O Spirit All-Embracing", as well as other names.

Well, Debussy and much of his work would be the first port of call. Debussy liked a good harp or two. 'Prelude l'apres midi d'un faune' or 'La Mer'. Maurice Ravel would have known Holst well, and the same age.
