the Bible tells us that if we are in Christ (saved), that God has given us certain gifting and wants to use us in certain ways. Sometimes our judgment about ourselves is off a bit. The best thing that we can do is to be reading the Bible, and growing in our understanding of God and of who He made us to be. He has a good plan for each of us, but we need to discover what it is. Blessings as you seek God!

The House of Israel was divorced and scattered among the gentiles. The House of Judah wasn't divorced. Jeremiah was asking how the House of Israel could return? God keeps His own law, so they couldn't return according to His Word. Hosea talks about all of this; that they would be scattered, but would return in the end. Romans 7 explains how God made this possible without breaking His own law. Through the death of the First Husband, the House of Israel was freed from that law. The death of Christ widowed the House of Judah, but allowed them to come into the New Covenant which isn't much different than the Old one. The House of Judah, and the House of Israel are starting to walk with each other in our days. The House of Israel was once calling themselves gentiles. Ephesians 2 says we are not gentiles anymore. The House of Judah once called themselves Jews.
    Galatians 3:27-28
[27]For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
[28]There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
We are supposed to be His people; Israel. Not replacing anyone, but joining together with.

When Jesus taught in parables, there was always a spiritual application. In this parable, the main point is that the erring younger brother repented, and was welcomed back by his loving father. The older, religious brother was angry at the father's mercy, and resented him.
We need to be careful to not make more of the parables than what the obvious point that Jesus as trying to make. Blessings!

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord We should also understand that they are parables, and they were meant to relay a deeper meaning than what was on the surface. When Jesus explained His parables, He was meaning something different. In fact, He told us why He spoke in parables.
      Matthew 13:10-15
[10]And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
[11]He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
[12]For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
[13]Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
[14]And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
[15]For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
The House of Israel was sometimes called Ephraim, or the House of Ephraim. Ephraim was blessed by Jacob, and in that blessing it was said that Ephraim would be melo ha'goyim. My spelling may be a little off, but it can be translated as fullness of the gentiles. There are clues all over Scripture. Who did Peter, and James write to? Who did Jesus say He came for? Paul talks about gentiles becoming Israel alot, even though he doesn't say it that clearly. Ephesians 2, Romans 9, and Romans 11 are a few places. He also talks about one new man, while Ezekiel talks about two sticks becoming one. The New Covenant is made with two houses in both the New and Old Testaments. There are times that the "church" (which means congregation) are given titles that were given to the children of Israel (All 12 Tribes). Titles like Holy Nation, Royal Priesthood, and Peculiar people.
      1 Peter 2:10
[10]Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
      Hosea 1:9-11
[9]Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.
[10]Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.
[11]Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.
Ephesians 2 also tells us what was actually nailed to the cross in Colossians 2. It was the hate contained in the Pharisees' law that separated the two houses. Circumcision, and Uncircumcision. They called the scattered House of Israel dogs. In Acts 10, Peter was still living by the Pharisees' laws. When he went to Cornelius, he said the law forbids him to even visit a gentile. Jesus tore down that wall by the cross. The problem with parables, and vision is that too many people try to take them at face value. We allegorize things that are literal, and take metaphors literally. We do this even when the whole Word makes things very clear. We should stop making things old vs. new, and understand it as a whole. The new was part of the plan since the beginning. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
