Preaching at the Temple Gate - Jeremiah 7-8

- In chapters 7 and 8 of Jeremiah we see the prophet giving his preaching at the temple gate, after God commands him to do so. Jeremiah publicly rebukes the children of Israel and prophecies judgement over them.

I have been watching this series of the teaching of Jeremiah, by Pastor David, and I am sucked in every time. God has truly blessed you with a way in storytelling. I was glued to this! I’m saddened by social media, by our culture... In a time when posts filled with God’s Word are skimmed by, yet the vile words of an angered person attached to a biblical principle is applauded. It’s heartbreaking.

On the topic of abortion, I've never heard an evangelical speak with compassion and concern for the woman contemplating that procedure. Ordinarily, I hear judgement....it's murder, you're going to hell, lock her up, give her the death penalty.
He's not in favor of abortion, but actually has concern for the woman. Wonderful.

The Lord put us out of the church because we were playing church.

Yep. Culture of shame keeps women in the church trapped in the need to hide these pregnancies. We don’t understand when we need to show people grace and when preaching holiness is the right way. Get the timing wrong and the consequences are rough.
Does God know us? Or, will we have to face "I never knew you"? Please revisit this pressing and haunting worry.

I don’t think we’re supposed to worry. We have these cautions. The answers are in the text. It’s clear, specific and easy to follow. And then we have fantastic teachers like this to guide us along the way!

Jeremiah 7:18 “queen of heaven” doesn’t this mean the Virgin Mary like the Catholics worship??
Many Bible teachers and scholars do believe that to be true.
I also equate it with pagan celebrations in the church.. Santa, Easter eggs and bunnies...
