The "WWE 2K19 Comparison Series" returns! With this edition putting WWE 2K19 up against SVR 2007.
Given the 12 years difference, its not too surprising that this years game has improved animations overall, BUT I still reckon there is a handful where the SVR 2007 versions might come out on top. What do you think? Which animations do you like more? #TEAM101

I think to give it more if the nostalgia feel you should've made the wrestlers in each game dress like the way they did in 2007 and use the Ruthless Aggression SmackDown and Raw arenas
2007 animation looks more brutal and the selling is cool and over but 2k19 looks realistic but kind of slow

FearWicked honestly everybody where I’m from has more fun playing the 2k games for the simulation. It’s like a basketball game or football game. The comparison of the stunts they pull in the game to real life are insane and that gives more satisfaction than the over exaggerated moves in 2007. Don’t get me wrong, I loved those games back in the day. But I think those games made me judge how wrestlers sold moves on live tv
Old games looked like the were based in a cartoon, Wwe2k is realistic and better

The one big thing I noticed in the new 2k19, is the ring does not bounce, it's like they forgot to add that detail, which makes the moves look less impactful
Arcadic gameplay was much better as compared to new realistic gameplay which is not very sufficient to the requirement of the gamer and that's very shocking for the company because in this section they are not listening to the fans and they improve game play every year. I think they should add some type of Arcadic form in game play

Well svr 07 is a easily top 3 or 4 for me. I would say it's rated pretty accurately though. Almost every wrestling fan loves the game.

One big thing I noticed is how stale everything looks in the new games. The whole ring in 2007 would shake after a finisher, while the newer games don’t.

2007 for character and impact. 2K19 for smoother and more realistic animations. It depends on your preference. For the most part I like the Animations in the current games but I like some animations in the older games more. It's kind of an even split for me personally.

The impact on svr finishers is mostly camera shake and a more bouncy mat than anything else. I really wouldn't mind if the mat on 2k19 bounced more. And Takers last ride was better timed on Svr than on 2k, which surprised me.
No. Its also the selling of the move.
In 2k19 the ring is still and doesn't shake and the ropes don't rattle when someone gets slammed. But in svr2007 you see all of that happening. In 2k19 the wrestling moves look stiff but svr2007 the moves look more amazing and more loose. I say svr2007 wins
the fact that even one move in SVR2007 would look better than the one in 2K19 is embarrassing. a game that came out 12 years ago should not have better animations. but it does. even some of the wrestlers look better in that game then they look in the new one.

No Mercy, 2007, and here comes the pain are all tied with preference being the deciding factor. 2007 certainly had the best story mode.

I don’t like having to waste time and stamina to do a finisher when a more accurate move would be springboard from apron position to in ring (like aj styles forearm position)

Svr has more of a arcade style to it. Very unrealistic, which 2k is the complete opposite. 2k is trying to give you what you are seeing on your television.

Mr. Uneven nah nowhere close the animation looks off yes the movements are more realistic but not as accurate or exciting. Take the stunner for example looks bland as hell in real life I’ve seen stars sell the stunner way better and more exiting than this. Like the rock etc sure their were some ppl like Vince that can’t sell for shit but the 2k games move sets look bland as hell and the games are over all shit. No mercy had better selling animations than 2k.

They "botched" the Spear execution on 2k19. The impact just didn't have the pop Edge was famous for. Wasn't BAD though.

Almost all of the finishers in SVR 07 were better but one. Trish's Stratusfcation bulldog in 2K19 was better imo.
Nostalgia is one helluva drug for some of you. 2k19 is a wrestling SIMULATOR. You really expect those arcade type of finishers ? Of course the Spear looks more impactful in 2007, but the Attitude Adjustment looks way better in 19 to me.
I guess I just don't see through rose tinted glasses anymore. The old animations are so janky and the skeletons popped so much from the character not being the right size. Lita's moonsault for example. The way they bounced always bothered me. Yes, the new games are slower and more simulation style, but the introduction of the ragdoll style physics has given me some of the most satisfying moments in wrestling game history. Like when I powerbombed somebody and their head bounced off the steel steps. It wasn't a preset canned animation like all the old games had. The physics bring a whole new level of fun to the games. Of course I love the old games, but the new physics alone wins this hands down.

I wish developers actually put thought into the games instead of having a general concept idea of what you're making and putting it together. I just feel like the games could be better. Each new game just feels the same with a different title or different characters.

SEE 2K19 finishers look weaker but feel more realistic when they are winded...as if were watching them wrestle on TV.
SVR 07 finishers look more brutal but they do they're finishers as if they just interfered in a match with full energy.

The old animations looked so slick, each frame felt very satisfying to look at. But out all the 2K games, I think 19 has perfected realism with some over selling the best.
Main difference... The ring is not bouncing in 2k19 and that gives svr moves some impact.

I just love how extra and unrealistic the selling is in SVR 07 makes the moves look 10x better
I've noticed that in the recent 2K WWE games the ring itself feels much smaller and claustrophobic compared to the much more wider and spacey feel of the ring in older games. All they have to do to fix this is change the camera angle slightly, make it closer to the two guys in the ring and make it higher to give a more spacious feel. Another thing they could do is make the front set of ropes transparent, as to not make it feel closed off and restricted.
And as for the moves, its clear that a lot of impact is taken away in recent games as the ring does not move on impact. This is a simple change, just add a shake/wobble to the ring ropes and mat when a move is hit. Additionally, the exaggerated feel of the older animations is far better for a Pro Wrestling game, despite the newer moves being more technically polished. (To be fair though, they have started to add some fantastic new styles of animation very recently in the DLC packs, for example the "Kairopractor", the "Discus Clothesline 4", the "Dominator", etc.)
Other things that would improve the fundamentals of these games are things like more frequent camera angle changes when a move has been initiated, for example, if someone is on the top rope and then goes for a shooting star press, as they set up for it the camera should always switch to a view across the other side of the ring by the opposite bottom turnbuckle. (There should also always be camera angle changes for submission moves and finishers/signatures. Also things like close ups on peoples faces during taunts or when someone initiates a comeback. This could be altered in the menu options). Another subtle thing that would change the overall feel drastically are varied postures/stances. In SvR 7 almost every person had a unique way of standing that added personality and variety- Edge stood hunched over pulling his hair back intensely, while Randy Orton stood calmly, confidently and noble with his chest puffed out. I'm not saying all 250+ wrestlers should have their own posture/stance but just add more variety and movement to wrestlers standing idol.
All of these changes would add up to make a more dynamic and interesting experience as oppose to the static, preedictable and boring feel of newer releases.
I figured out the wwes problem. They use to sell it more. The rock really made the after stunner animation in real life. You gotta sell it.

We should take a moment to appreciate those amazing WWE games we used to have. I remember playing SvR2007 GMMode and playing almost every single match, and how different PPV's felt.
In 2K19, I organize the matches, play one match per week if so, and the PPV feel's the same as any other match. :(

To sum this up, 2007 Finishers were exciting and satisfying to watch whereas 2019 is realistic but less entertaining to watch.

It never made it to 2k16 and Steve Austin's showcase mode and other future 2k games out there.

I had SvR 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Always wanted SvR 2007 because it was a better version of the SvR 2006 before 2008 introduced the new mechanics. Looked like such a great game

Am I the only one who thinks the graphics look cooler in SVR07 like the ring had more bounce and the lighting focused on the superstars rather than lighting up the while crowd and SVR has more of an arcade feel to it rather than a simulation game like it feels like now

WWE2k creators don't think anymore like stone cold new stunner the second finisher they give him a girl feminine kick and long middle fingers looks so stupid but the new first stone cold stunner is really good where he does nice gut kick and stuns them and they fall over but they don't think cause they got so many good editions of stunners just 2k14 alone, why not put them in the game too to chose from to replace the girl kick long middle fingers stunner they don't think.
I would always think the move animations from the older svr games were the best, a bit over the top but much more fun than the slow animation of nowadays

Seems like SVR worked on the expressions and body language of wrestlers after they hit the smack, so that made it look real. 2k19 failed to do that so. Or may be wrestling is not even the same as it used to be. But SmackDown pain will remain the best.
The age old question of animation vs mo-cap. For strikes and aerial moves, SvR. For grappling moves, I prefer 2K19.

I never thought about it like that. Yeah SVR was perfect! At times it was a BIT to over sell and chaotic. SVR 2011 had the best physics of any wwe game.

And 12 years ago these sells, were merely recycled alot of times from smackdown here comes the pain. But SVR '07 did have some great sells, however they definitely reinded you its a game. Example the book end is complete with a taunt at the end, to me it seems like more arcade style, where the book end finish isn't perfect on 2K, it seems, more realistic. But to compare 12 years differential, to today, it's gonna be hard to decide
