CORRECTIONS:
5:37 - Jonathan could have marched east to the Wine city and sailed west to the brick city.
12:56 - Anastasia only paid 3 money, not the 5 that was required.
18:18 - Actually, you CANNOT discard resources to make room for other resources. You must spend resources somehow to remove them from your storehouse. If you take more resources than will fit in the empty spaces, you pick which to take.
59:20 - We forgot to flip the province tile over, to show the coin side.
Gotta watch Anastasia, she's a sneaky one, lol.
Concordia is an all-time great. I wish more games could capture the balance of simple rules with deep gameplay that it provides
Hansa Teutonica is in that same space of rules to depth ratio. As well as another game by Mac Gerdts - Navegador. Concordia is the best of all of them though.
Fully agree!
I'll never be a great Concordia player, but it's still great to see two folks playing at a high level. I appreciate y'all sharing your strategic thoughts--and your friendship. It was enjoyable to hear how you two engage with each other over the gameboard.
Finally an episode play through with friends! Always looking forward to those! ❤
I have good news, there are 4 more of these recorded (one of which is edited and already shared with Patreon supporters). So they will be trickling out :)
@@JonGetsGames lovely stuff! Can’t wait to see them!
I lost touch with the channel for a couple years and just came across this. Really enjoyed it. I'll go back to watch more of the series. Thank you.
It's been fun making these, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This game never gets old.
Really love hearing the strategic thoughts. Great video!
Yay! You should a Friendly Ties episode on Concordia 🤔
Honestly, I'd love to do that. Can't way it'll happen though.
My favourite game that I don't own. I often consider buying it just in case my friend moves away.
I've played it for the first time many many years ago. Didn't like it. Then I played it again a few monhts ago and I just LOVED it. Especially on this map! Salsa expansion is just an icing on the cake ;). My taste has changed significantly over the years and I just love the simplicity and elegance of this system. Great euro.
So great to hear, this game is just amazing. Not everyone loves it, but I'm glad you came around to it. I wasn't crazy about salsa though, I didn't like the flexibility of using salt and the forum didn't do much for me. A major part of my love for this game is the clean design, and adding expansion modules isn't really what I'm interested in. New maps though? Heck yeah!
@@JonGetsGames agreed 100%. I like Forum, but I will play with it only from time to time. My fav way to play is 2p with Base Game + Creta and that was EXACTLY your setup :). If you like Concordia try Antike Duellum!
5:40 -- you COULD'VE moved your ship once and your land trader once and gotten the wine city -- brick was only one route away via sea!
Came here to say this. Good catch.
Ah, great catch! I was pre-ocupied by finding a set of wine & brick next to one colonist that I didn't notice the two colonist option there.
@@JonGetsGames it’s always what I look for first thing too. If I start lower in turn order, I will try for a Cloth instead of Wine with the extra Denarii.
I love this game. :)
Brilliant design.
18:18 probably should note that you can’t discard resources you already have. Can’t throw them overboard!
Wow, yep! Not sure how I flubbed that, hopefully I didn't accidentally cheat with it later on. I've added corrections, thanks.
I went ahead and ordered the base game plus a map that is supposed to be better for two-players. Thanks for reminding me of this game that had kind of slipped out of my awareness.
I hope you enjoy it!
Concordia really shines @ 2 players 😁
It's so good at every count!
Have you tried the Venus card set? (just the new cards, not the team mode). I've really come to enjoy the new set, especially the move of Mason to deck II and the new Venus scoring mode.
I never have. I'm slightly interested to try the Magister out, but I don't think I am actualy interested enough to mess with swapping in and out the cards to play it fully competitive.
@@JonGetsGames tbh, Magister is the weakest part of the new card set imo ^^
One of my top 10 i've played only Venus version, but it is almost same game. I enjoy listening to you and Anastasia explaining your moves, especialy in this video you can her how much Anastasia loves the game.
How do you feel about salt expansion, i forget the name :)
I played the Salsa expansion once, with a friend's copy. I thought it was fine, but overall it wasn't my preference. I didn't like the extra flexibility of salt, and the forum additions didn't seem necessary to me. I really like the elegance of the core system, and adding modules onto it isn't something I'm particularly interested in.
Crete is a great map for two players, and I think its relative simplicity makes it a good map for a streaming tutorial.
Yeah, it worked super well for this.
59:13 Anastasia never flipped the tile for the grey province, so she should have gotten more money for her next prefect.
Good catch! I've added a correction.
I love this game. Can´t say I am any good at it though... 😂
The problem knowing the game so well is that you forget to read and forget the 3 money all time.
I love Concordia but my collectors issues mean I keep buying all the maps, expansions etc so I have probably too much Concordia now.
I'm missing a bunch of maps and need to stop buying them as well :P
1:00:27 You flipped the wrong region when you did prefectus. Didnt matter since Anastasia got money next move.
12:58 - you only paid 3 instead of 5 ;)
Good catch, I've added corrections. Thanks!
We normally add an extra set of cards per player count, as the game ends way too quick otherwise. Top 5 game for me. 2 player not my favorite shines with 3+.
Huh, that's an interesting variant that I haven't heard of before.
