- In this video I’m installing a 12.1” android radio and walking through some of its features. This thing is Huge and looks Amazing! It has many,many great features.
The installation is not hard and comes with easy to follow instructions. However you should be fully comfortable and knowledgeable with wiring before you try to install one of these yourself. If you try to install one and screw something up, its on you!!!(ITS YOUR FAULT) So just take it to a shop if you dont know what your doing.
Basic tools are needed for the job: plastic pry tools, 3/8 ratchet/socket set, small/med zip ties, wire cutter

Will the “lower 3rd row headrest” button still exist? How about existing DVD player? How about existing GPS turn by turn dashboard integration?
Be ready to deal with a few upcoming issues. So far the lights can’t be changed on buttons for me. Also, the celcius doesn’t change up to Fahrenheit, and my ac controls stopped working and still don’t work. Customer service is no help.

Love it. Gotta get it. I have a 2019 DD RT. Does the backup camera still work. Does it support apple carplay? What about the steering wheel controls do they still work. Basically do I still have all the functions and functionality of the original parts?

The OEM radio has 4 screws besides the clips of the panel, so the Tesla style radio would be so easy to steel, right???😢

Is the Android and Apple carplay hardwired only or wireless? Great video.
It has a usb plug for the CarPlay that connects to the radio by a plug n play connector
The other OEM cables Pink, Burgandy and yellow. Did you have to connect those? You inst video dropped off before connecting the backup camera etc. I think I got that straight this morning. Did you have the OEM blue ray and headrest players to connect? Oh also, did you connect a provider sim for mobile internet. I found the hardwire slot on the motherboard is tricky. There's a tiny bit of space between the slot and enclosure that if you don't use tweezers, you will lose it. Mine didn't come with directions so your video was helpful.

Indeed it will. And It has the inputs built in for the dvd entertainment connect

This should work fine for the 2018 gt as long as your factory radio is the 8” one because this particular arduous 12.1 fits perfect for the factory 8” 2018-2020 Durango

I ordered one a month ago an still waiting the company emailed me saying they discontinued the 13” for my Durango so I have to upgrade it every time I call they say there’s nothing they can do until the shipping team sends them the info

ABSOLUTELY! I didn’t lose any functions at all. And that was one one of the Main things I was worried about but it was all good.
I am trying to upgrade firmware, can not figure that out. I want to change the interface and look of the controls also but again lost. Any help appreciated
I cannot upgrade my firmware as well. Theses a lot of other things that we can’t access without upgrading the firmware. I reached out to Phoenix and apparently the only way to upgrade is 1) through a window computer and 2) you have to be sent a link through dropbox. I’m super frustrated about this! There has to be a easier of of doing a simple firmware update
But you can still change your control interface without updating the firmware but you only will have one other option which is the blue interface

Absolutely you can hook up a system and dsp and monitors if you want

Can you still somehow use the vehicle wifi? I pay that extra fee to have wifi, would I lose that?
I believe you will lose the vehicle WiFi but you will still be able to connect to your phones WiFi or another WiFi source

Certainly retained it, and all other functions

Issue? Actually yes, I will be doing a full review video on it. And yes for the optical output. I’m using the optical output for my Apple CarPlay but you can use it for something else I’d need be

Absolutely. You need internet connection to download apps and stream videos/movies and everything
How do you feel losing the physical AC control?
I’m ok with it. As long as they continue to work properly. I actullay like the touch controls more. Also the fact that they will never stick and become stuck

And last question, did you lose any steering wheel button controls?
Yup it comes with android auto which works fine but I prefer using Bluetooth for music. And I retained every single steering wheel control, I would have been hot if I lost any of the wheel functions!
Does performance pages work with this radio
Not sure about that one. My RT don’t have the performance pages unfortunately. I would check with Phoenix

Man that eq sucks I have the same radio it just has for rca jacks it doesn't have sub rca out I had to install a EQ for really tune my music I'm running 4 6 1/2 door speakers beymas and 2 12 inch subs with 2 amps but I had to install a EQ on it
You might want to try a different setup. I can can really tune in mine to a T, and I only have the stock Alpine system. The unit also has crossover adjustment so I don’t see why you can’t get tuned in with a crispy sound

@@ZacWade so it mirrors the apps in your iPhone when the Apple CarPlay is connected but it doesn’t seem to mirror every app you have installed. For example when connected it shows your google maps, pandora, phone book, and a few others. But it doesn’t show ALL apps that are downloaded in your iPhone.
