    Why haven’t you studied marine biology?

    • @takackman9325
      @takackman9325 5 лет назад +63

      Because marine biology is a glamour degree. If you really wanna study marine animals study either fisheries biology, GIS systems, oceanography, microbiology, engineering or statistics. These fields will allow you to transfer your skills to the ocean and marine environments where you want to be.

    • @mfmax3452
      @mfmax3452 5 лет назад +33

      Most people don’t realize you don’t go to college and Enter “marine biology”. Its a labor of love. To truly pursue a degree your looking at 8 years. Most people would rather be accountant or teachers and save yourself about $200,000.

    • @joesansone4265
      @joesansone4265 5 лет назад +36

      @@takackman9325 I am currently a ichthyology major (fish/zoology major) and nothing you say holds any water, doesn't seem that ever studied biology yourself at all. Being a marine biology major would most definitely take you to ocean research in your future, if you find a job. You definitely don't need an engineering degree to do research on fish populations, statistics courses are already embedded into the marine biology prerequisite courses, basically everything you said is completely false. Not to mention all biology major courses all require the same courses, you take all the same bs classes in any bio major program.

      M M not unless you keep a fish right. Also why would you watch this video if you think that

    • @lt.random210
      @lt.random210 5 лет назад +12

      M M i agree that keeping a super high intelligence pet like an octopus isn’t a good idea unless you have a massive tank you would see at a public aquarium, but I don’t think the standard fish has the same requirement considering they aren’t as smart as the octopi. Yes fish feel pain and can get really bored and scared, but it could be argued that fish would have a better quality of life and lifespan in a closed environment specifically designed around their needs like an aquarium should be, because in the wild they would have predators, food competition, and higher risk of injury. In an good aquarium fish could have live food, different vegetables, and flake food etc. Also, the fish tank should have plenty of plants, caves, and hardscape. That should make them feel safer in the tank and be happier. All of that should really help them feel at home in your tank
      If you already have done a fish-less nitrogen cycle before you put anything in just because that could put unneeded stress your fish.
      So I feel that if you design a tank specifically for the needs of your fish and don’t be the guy who walks into pet smart and picks the best looking fish there without a plan, it’s a pretty humane hobby (granted you have done your research).

    Mantis Shrimp scare the absolute SHIT out of me 😂 When I had my reef tanks and would purchase live rock in bulk, my BIGGEST fear would always be a hitchhiking Mantis that came with the rock, which I wouldn’t notice until arranging the rock in the tank with my hands 😂. I know that’s an EXTREMELY specific scenario, but I’ve heard of that EXACT situation happening TOO many times. They call them “Thumbsplitters” for a reason 😵 The guys at my LFS would always laugh at me for being too scared to reach into the live rock pool whenever I was picking out/buying a piece. Oh, well. Luckily, I only had the occasional crab, snail, and worm sneak into my tank via live rock 🙏🏼 Fun fact (also scary), Mantis Shrimp strike with such force that the friction creates heat equivalent to the surface of the sun on the point of impact. Pretty crazy stuff. So I applaud you for being brave enough to own one lol. I was too scared to even own a Lionfish, let alone one of those bad boys, lmfao 😂 Great tanks, btw!

    I wouldn’t be able too have a tank at the direct end of my bed my blanket or foot would end up in a tank

    I'd like to see the process and timing of how you're going to break those tanks down! Soon, I'm going to have to move with 11 tanks, so it would be great info!

    I would recommend to never get an octopus. They need HUGE tanks (like a couple hundred gallons) and are hard to breed in captivity

    I wonder if that mantis shrimp is strong enough to punch a whole in the glass if its punch is compared to a .22 caliber gun.
