Hi Donavon, great videos! I'm looking for a Wear OS watch which I can also use during my cycling trips. That means up to 5 hours of GPS, I don't use music during these trips. Is the Ticwatch up for that /will there be any battery life left? On a "normal" working day I need 2.5 hours of GPS tracking (no music) and the rest of the day notifications. Is the Ticwatch up for that?
Rob, it can handle that, but probably not with a whole lot to spare. It might be worth it to consider a Huawei Watch 2 or wait for one of the new watches coming with the 3100 chipset.
@@donavonhornbeck thanks for your response. Wasn't thinking about the Huawei, it's a interesting option. I'm in doubt, because waiting for the 3100, how long will that take? Nobody knows I guess.

At 11.33 I'm slightly confused that you say with typical usage you get roughly the same - 2 days yet earlier say only a day on the Ticwatch pro. This to me is the crucial feature of these smartwatches ans my conclusion from this and other comparison videos is the Samsung is better under typical usage?
Yes, under my typical usage the Samsung Galaxy Watch gets better battery life. Under heavy usage I get two days of battery with the Galaxy Watch, but under light usage 3 to 4 days is possible (I've heard some say as many as 7 days, but there's no way I can get that).
I really like the swivelling bezel functionality of the Galaxy but this battery life issue is crazy when default mode on the Ticwatch Pro is heart beat on the Essential mode rather than notifications! Who designs these watches and do they do their market research on algorithms rather than real people?! They should call them fitness watches not smart watches as there is nothing smart about that!
My wife gets almost 5 days, if she waited that long to charge it. She charges it nightly, but she typically ends her 18 hour days at 90-92% battery level. She doesn't use the apps except to answer texts and hanging up on calls she gets during meetings. I could easily make the battery cry for a charge by end of the day, but I'm the kind of guy that loves playing on my phone apps all day long. Btw- heart rate issue has been fixed with multitude of fixes. Also, We swapped band with a nice Red leather band that looks better and keeps heart sensor pressed firm (not tight) against her skin.
Ani mal The big difference is that I’m using the watch to listen to music and track my run using GPS. These are both heavy battery consumers, which is why I typically can only get 2 to 3 days of battery on my Samsung Galaxy Watch.
Hey, man! What do you think about the processors? I'm afraid that the snapdragon 2100 on the pro is a little bit old. Don't know about the exynos on Galaxy. Thanks!
The 2100 was definitely helped out by the WearOS 2.0 roll out. The TicWatch Pro runs much smoothly now. As for the Galaxy Watch, I’ll be honest and say the processor is definitely faster, but it suffers from little software glitches a lot more often than it should.
Everything I've read about the 3100 is that it is no faster or better for battery life than the 2100 so I'm not waiting any longer. I have a Moto 360 with a Snapdragon 400 so the Ticwatch will be an upgrade for me.
I'm confused, why would you prefer the Galaxy display over the Ticwatch? The Ticwatch Pro is higher resolution on the amoled and can be used with a ton of included watch face designs(and all the others downloadable from the Play store) in smart watch mode only if you don't like the battery saving ftsn display. When you add in 30 day battery life, NFC, the more mature WearOS by Google the sheer number of apps alone make the Ticwatch a no brainer compared to the Galaxy. The only obvious winning feature on the Galaxy is that wonderful bezel...great use for navigation. I'm surprised more don't use that type of interface.
@@parkerwilkins5495 True, I suppose I was looking at compatibility as the main plus for TicWatch. Samsungs watch is great if you don't mind being locked into Samsungs hardware and software. I like freedom to choose and would have been pissed to find once I upgraded my phone I had lost functionality in my watch and would have to buy another to get it back.
I got the galaxy watch, not because I have an s10 but I found it to be faster although interface is inconsistent; it's always a combination of touch and buttons and you don't know when you'll use the said combination but overall the galaxy watch is better.

Very good review. i just bought the Ticwatch Pro but the claimed battery life of up to 30 days is meaningless if you use the apps you will hardly get more than one day. as you say a lot of the apps you wont use and I wish they would stop calling these smart watches when they are primarily fitness watches and you cant remove those constantly functioning apps to extend battery life. To me battery life is everything and needs to be at least 3 days on full functionality of just a handful of useful apps.
I have the ticwatch pro, and I get 2-3 days off battery with normal usage (I set tilt to wake, WiFi, and "ok Google" detection on, set auto brightness, and turned off AOD and touch to wake).
so what is the difference between the Ticpro and the tick watch C2? The pro is very masculine I like the design options on C2 but am I losing out on a lot with that model? Also do you think Samsung will ever use Google OS ITS SO MUCH BETTER. If the Samsung watch just had the google assistant and Google Maps it would be a NO BRAINER for me

Samsung is burning a lot of bridges with their watches it seems. This Galaxy Watch has the potential to be amazing, but it suffers from small bugs that are pretty annoying from an end users perspective.
One another Samsung issue yet to be resolved is that the watch randomly kicks in as a phone headset while you actually just wish to make a regular call on your phone. Due to this annoying issue, I felt obliged to sell it (of course first informing the buyer of this minor bug). The issue has been on Samsung support page for more than a year.

I would love to be able to use google assistant and all that, but I keep seeing that the ticwatch is really unstable :/ Oh and I love the bezel so much too, that'd suck to lose.
Thanks for the feedback, can you elaborate a little more why the sleep monitoring is useless, because i was interested for the watch and the sleep tracking.
@@vfragos It's just very inaccurate. I'll look at the report the next morning and it'll say that I was asleep from say 1am to 10am even though I was very clearly awake at like 9:30, but I was laying in bed and had a low heart rate so it thought I was sleeping. And every single day it says out of like the 8 hours that I'm "sleeping" that I spend 2 hours every night awake and never go into deep sleep ever. I definitely never remember being awake for 2 whole hours. It's just pointless compared to my fitbit that I have. That actually gave me accurate looking results.
@@vfragos The fitbit charge 2. Another inconsistency with the watch is the fitness tracker. It'll just go off the edge and stop working. For example it is saying that the last 4 days I've averaged about 16 thousand calories burned per day. I'm not an olympic athlete,
So let me get this clear: if i am in the essential mode and i receive a phone call or a message, the clock doesn't automaticaly swich to "smart mode" and show me the notification?
Not in essential mode. However, if you then off always on display, the watch will switch to the second display when the main one turns off, and you still get notifications.
I love my gear S3.. but I have started running 5kms and when I start running it says location connected so I start running.. then a km in I look down and the GPS signal is orange and it hasn't connected to anything. I finished mg run and tracked 0.00kms.. not one step recorded.. this is abnormal but it has done it maybe 3 tmes out of 20. Pretty annoying.
I hear so many complaints about Samsung having a horrible heart rate monitor. My main reason for me to have a smart watch is for fitness. Deal breaker at a high price. I think the Samsung S3 Frontier is the best looking smart watch around. Fitbit dash app is still miles ahead of the competition. I want Samsung hardware & design with wear OS and Fitbit fitness dash app. Pixel watch with great fitness app?
Yeah, I will have to do a follow up video for the Samsung Watch soon. They've had a couple of updates recently, and it's possible that the heart rate sensor has been improved in one of those updates.
Does it make calls? It seems to make calls sometimes and sometimes it goes to the phone, same with answering. I had to reset it twice because it kept messing up
i got the galaxy watch, I like the watch, but I'm having several issues, step count is not accurate calories count is terrible, the watch can sit on the table all day, and it says that I burned 1700 calories the altimeter is all over the place Is anyone having the same issues? I'm about to return the watch back to the store.
The calorie counter is based off your profile, regarding your basil metabolic rate. So that is what your body burns just by remaining still and just functioning, i.e. breathing, heart beat, etc. If you add exercise, you'll notice it significantly increases. The watch is correct.
The altimeter is all the place. That has never been accurate, but the step count attempts to not count arm movements as steps. If it's off, it's only by a few hundred steps a day, which is insignificant and does not help you or harm you. It's an idea of how lazy/ or lazy you are during the day.
Absolute madness that in 'essential' mode you get heart rate monitor but not ESSENTIAL notifications the second most important aspect of a smartwatch to telling the time!
With the new wear os H update that is coming out the ticwatch pro will get a power saving mode similar to essential mode that still shows notifications.
I have the issue with the HR as I mention in the video, but as far as step counting goes, mine hasn’t been all that far off from any other watch I’m testing.
@@donavonhornbeck oh yeah? Try wearing an Apple watch or a Fitbit at the same time while wearing a Galaxy watch and you'll see. Yeah, the 3100 chipset will help with battery, but from the sounds of it, it won't really change the processing power. Though, I honestly think Wear OS 2.0 fixed a lot of lag (on the Ticwatch Pro) that every Android Wear/Wear OS suffered from. I'm actually eyeing an even larger watch right now. I really want to give the Garmin 5 Plus a go, but it's crazy expensive, and it's designed specifically for running/cyclists/triathletes, so it's smartwatch features are a bit lacking. Honestly if my Garmin VivoActive 3 Music supported Spotify (like the 5 Plus does), I would be really happy.
@@donavonhornbeck That's good to hear. Wear 2.0 looks like a step forward for sure. The main reason I'd like to see the 3100 is the full fledged always on watch face. This is huge for me because I'm a watch wearer anyway and the simple task of glancing at the time is inhibited by most smartwatches. Ill check out the Garmin 5 Plus too!

@@str8harry Thanks for your answer. Which Fitbit device;
@@vfragos The fitbit charge 2. Another inconsistency with the watch is the fitness tracker. It'll just go off the edge and stop working. For example it is saying that the last 4 days I've averaged about 16 thousand calories burned per day. I'm not an olympic athlete,
Hey I have the galaxy watch too but after 2 weeks i found that the bezel is loose. Anyone else see this problem
If your in smart mode, you'll get the digital screen, but you get notifications and it'll show as soon as you raise your wrist.
Does either watch display a map showing where I am? And can they do it if my phone is not nearby?
Good question.
And will it tell you how to get somewhere?
Im asking about the Samsung Galaxy watch.
The gear is crap. Slow and laggy GPS and at times it wont connect. Hr sensor is crap also and still lacks apps
I love my ticwatch pro 😍.
Nothing is better...
Does it make calls? It seems to make calls sometimes and sometimes it goes to the phone, same with answering. I had to reset it twice because it kept messing up
@@weekendwarrior8179 I doesn't try to use this. I use this watch to control my music... and this is working very well.
If you have a Samsung phone get the galaxy watch. If you have a different Android phone get the ticwatch pro.
i got the galaxy watch, I like the watch, but I'm having several issues,
step count is not accurate
calories count is terrible, the watch can sit on the table all day, and it says that I burned 1700 calories
the altimeter is all over the place
Is anyone having the same issues?
I guess its only useful when the battery drops to 20%
With the new wear os H update that is coming out the ticwatch pro will get a power saving mode similar to essential mode that still shows notifications.
Thanks, I will look out for that as I returned my watch but may buy again as I really liked it.
Galaxy watch is great and looks much better. The tickwatch has big buttons. No thanks
Great review man

Getting close to that mark... not quite there yet. It’s been a fun ride so far. Thanks for the support!
@@donavonhornbeck you will get there soon, just a matter of time👍🏼
The Galaxy Watch has a tremendous issue counting steps and HR. The complaints are all over the internet
Additionally, try walking short distances (ex. 15 steps or so) around the house and you'll see that the Galaxy Watch won't even pick those up. If you really want to laugh, Google 'Galaxy watch step counter'
The Galaxy watch I had would not track stairs at all. The heart rate monitor worked half the time and my GPS would cut off sometimes during runs. Not often but enough. I took at back and went Garmin Fenix 5X.
@@CyberYaker I'm thinking Apple watch series 4
don't wear galaxy watch too tight then it will measure heart rate fine.
Absolutely Tikpro!
Samsung learnt from apple to develop their own os which is hard to use with other systems which mean once glued to Samsung forever glued. Not me had Apple before omg horrible customer care
Google wear os and 100 bucks less seal's the deal for me
Garmin Fenix 5X Plus solves all problem
I’ve got that one as well :)
i have the GW. i also want the ticwatch.
Really great review !
Can Ticwatch Pro store musics in it? and play?
Yes
Yup 4 GB of storage
EJP Tech by any chance u wold know a good place to buy smart watches that sell different ones
@@randallhicks5310 besides Amazon, I don't really know of any. Verizon sells the Galaxy watch in their stores, but I don't think ticwatch sells their watches in retail stores.
If the Ticwatch Pro had the 3100 chipset, was smaller (42mm) and all black, I'd be all over it.
I have 7 inch wrist. I tried on both 42 and 46mm at BB and 46 while looking slightly bulky, lied comfortably on my wrist.
I don't know about the pro. But I wouldn't waste my money on the Galaxy watch
Yeah, the Galaxy Watch does have some issues, though I just received a second update for the week, so it seems like at least Samsung is trying to address the issues.
@@donavonhornbeck how generous of them...
Can't let metal rest on my skin. Other than that, the Tickwatch seems like a good option for non Samsung users though.
Galaxy Watch has no NFC while Ticwatch Pro supports Google Pay.
I guess, Galaxy Watch has Samsung Pay that uses NFC
Galaxy Watch does have NFC.
The Galaxy watch has NFC, but it uses Samsung pay instead of Google pay.
Awesome video!
Great job Bixbi.. lol what a joke great review. Please remove Bixbi from ALL Samsung.
Zeblaze thor 4 dual ,1st of all thanks
i opt for tic watch pro 4g lte thas the old one you can swim with new model tic watch way better bixbie sucks
Galaxy watch definitely !! Ticwatch is trash! I had ticwatch and never again....now i have galaxy watch and are perfect...
They're still too thick.
Nothing pro about the ticwatch pro. I am wearing one right now and to be honest I am not impressed. Fails from Bluetooth connectivity to simple file transfers. Do not make the mistake I did. Spend a little more and get the Samsung.
