    There's always a weird blur between the Country of North Korea and the people of North Korea. Most seem to forget that there are people there with lives, stories and struggles. That's what David is trying to portray, not the country, but life in it.

    Kim-Il-Sungia flower are actually Indonesian Orchid flower that were named after Kim Il Sung by Indonesian first president, Soekarno (Sukarno). They were quite a close friend at the time.
    They were chilling in Bogor Bonatical Garden in the evening and Soekarno ask which flower that Kim likes the most, Kim choose the Orchid flower and then Soekarno gave it for him and named it Kim-Il-Sungia to commemorate and respect the friendship of the two countries and their leaders. Its actually a very intriguing stories, since there aren't too many North Korean allies at the time.
    Both Soekarno and Kim Il Sung are very charismatic and patriotic, knowing these stories made me realize that every human have their hidden side that almost nobody knows.

      I didn't buy for a split second the story of the _"North Korea's version of Nasa"_. It somehow felt like he's telling that _"side of story"_ because there's a gun pointing to his head.
      He could be was paid by NK government to do the job - going around the country taking _cushion_ photos. On the other hand, he could be half-threatened, half paid.
      NKgovernment isn't just cavemen with taepodong. They are capable of complex conspiracies and cover-ups as well.

    This is extremely interesting. I really respect him. I do have some thoughts though, and I hope I can find some people to discuss them with here.
    1.I wonder what the suicide rate is.Speaking of that, I wonder what the physical health care is like.
    2.Are citizens allowed mobile devices? Or is it only for those that are special - foreigners, soilders, doctors, basketball players,ect?
    3.Does North Korea have having capabilities?Of any kind, even if it's from allies?
    4. Finally, why is everything so...old? I recognize the obvious poverty, mismanagement of funds, and traditional cultural images. But besides that, every stylistic choice for newly produced items -such as new books, posters, state uniforms, the "human mosaic" signs, bottle labels, packaging- look very early Cold War era. They've been exposed to other art styles- even if it's just the Chinese movies that get snuck in. Hm.
    Any thoughts?

    • @Zarknightify
      @Zarknightify 8 лет назад +1

      MargaritaMolly They are not allowed to use the internet really. There are few made up sites for services, nothing else.
      If you're not in connection with the outside world you might not be exposed to the most recent books, movies or whatever.
      I havent done any research so i cant claim any of these facts, just some thoughts

    • @avanishpank7572
      @avanishpank7572 8 лет назад +2

      i'm not sure about the suicide rate but the physical health is really bad,malnutrition would be right word to describe their physical health.
      forget mobile or internet,people are not even allowed to have vehicles.majority still use bycycle.only high government officials are allowed to have cars.
      talking about allies,it has none besides china and that too is not a very close ally.china just help them out because north korea is strictly anti american.
      any form of art other than those produced in north korea is not really available for public so i doubt if they are exposed to chinese movies and stuffs.

      North Korea went through a period of extreme isolation after the Cold War. They were locked tight in the 80's and most common things to us were non-existent to them. That's why if you look at their military, they run on Russian Cold War era planes and warships. This goes so far to the point where they think they invented the cheeseburger. Not joking. After the death of their first leader, they gradually started opening up again, but do to the fact that they concentrate solely on militaristic affairs, that won't be updating anything anytime here soon.
      Also, North Korea has only 4 allies. One being Russia and another China.

      Nezumi Never said anything about you being worried about her traveling anywhere. And if she was caucaisan you wouldn't say ''My friend is caucasian oh and btw she wanted to go to north korea''. You see? It had nothing to do with what you were saying and it just bothered me a little.

    • @kristynapier845
      @kristynapier845 8 лет назад

      Bug ..... the reason that her friend being African American is relevant to going to North Korea is because she perceived that country to be biased against African American more so than any other race. Actually I think dividing people into races is so backwards it's almost prehistoric, in my opinion, we are all the same race. The human race. Some have more melatonin than others and that is it. I have a biracial child (Caucasian and African American) and I am only qualifying this information so you might understand why I decided to explain and yet I did not find offense by what she said. I think her concern for her friend is something to be applauded. I hope you will have enough integrity to apologize for making her feel ashamed or at the very least, desist from your previous course. I wish you both well.
