- demonstration of the fully analogue drum machine MFB 522. Sounds like a "little brother" of the TR-808.
This is the pure sound of the machine, neither added FX nor post processing.
First the sounds, then some patterns to show the potential of the machine.
Very nice demo for a very nice little machine! We are very happy to have a MIDI mapping preset for it as well in our next update! ✌️😊
It does sound a lot like the TR-808...nice drum machine! Thanks for the sub! Nora :)
Please please do a video on how to programme and sequence with the 522
great demo, awesome sounds, powerfull retro feel cheers
kindread Thx! A really nice little machine
Sounds great...very sharp and crisp ( my Opinion )
It does, doesn't it? Thanks for your comment!
Great little box. Worth the $$ just for the kick and snare. The snare is a perfect 808 snare emulation. The kickdrum has some features the 808 bass drum lacks: tunable/ i.e. you can change the pitch, and it can have a much longer decay.
thx for your comment! The box sounds really nice indeed
I had one of these,
now I'm sorry to have it sold.
Like !!!
Old Beats you can still get another one!
On the second hand online sites (European) I frequent every 2-3 months one pops up for about 150-200 euros. So there's a chance. Outside of Europe, I don't know
Yes, it is still in production, is on sale for 280 euros by MFB.

I have two drum modules now:
1 Jomox AirBase 99
2 Novation Drum Station Rack
Have a good Sunday.
Cheers
Great purchase! Enjoy!
got one for sale, hook me up.
simánszki, magyar e vagy te is?:)
nice little toy with a big boom, much enjoyable. but is it possible to record what you play live or sequencing is the only game?
you can record with playing the pads but they're no that big
is it possible to set the exact tempo? see no display
if I remember correctly (sold the device a few years ago), you can't set the exact tempo but you can sync it to an external midi clock from which you can adjust the tempo
Hey! awesome video man. Just got myself a secondhand MFB 522 and been getting my hands around it. Though I've got a questions for you: how do you make the sequence go more than 16 bars? I noticed some of the patterns you programmed sounds like it and I couldn't figure out how. Let me know man thank you!
Hey, thanks for your comment. For each 16-steps pattern you can program a 16 step fill-in pattern (which I didn't use as a fill-in but as a variation of the regular pattern). While your pattern is playing you have to press the fill-button to have the playback alternate between regular pattern and variation. Unfortunately I don't remember how to access the programming of the fill-in because I sold the device a while ago :)
@@ShimanskiBeats alright sound good to me cheers mate!
Pretty sure you can make songs out of the patterns, check the manual.
Sound real good, close to roland's drum machines.
very similar to an 808, some sounds are more tweakable as well
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the sounds parameters are controllable via midi CC?
if I'm not mistaken you can't control them via midi CC
Nice sound this drum ,, cool gear ,, greetings m.
Kickass little box !
Is that hum caused by the machine?
no, that's from the connection between the mixer and audiointerface
where did you buy it, been wanting to get one
+Rodrigo Zapata bought it at Thomann, which ships to many countries incl. US, but the MFB 522 is currently out of stock there. According the MFB homepage it is still being produced so maybe you contact them directly: mfberlin.de/en/contact/
its really punchy. damn. so sad they don't make it anymore
I've been using MFB samples on my TR8S and it sounds amazing! A great machine if you've never used it btw.
Hope it comes with tweezers and a magnifying glass to turn the knobs ... LOL
haha, no it doesn't, so you gotta be precise
