I guess it depends on your culture, because we celebrate Christmas by attending midnight mass on Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of Christ. Then we go home eat and open gifts.

I needed to hear the devotional because my sister will be having extensive back surgery in Jan and we live out of town. So I've been praying that His Divine Providence will prevail so that we can be there for her. Also, for her surgery, doctors and medical team! I have you on about -27C at the moment, I do hope you stay warm. After three weeks of cold down to -7C, it is warmer this week and we are on 8C. I am off on my summer holiday to Egypt soon, so though I do admire some of your Hutterite culture, I also do like travelling. Swimming, snorkeling and table tennis will be so nice in the sunshine.

Your colony should consider purchasing a freeze dryer. Even being able to have freeze dried fruit and berries for snacks during the winter would make the purchase totally worthwhile. We want to buy one but our budget doesn't quite allow for it yet. Hopefully next year.

We had had snow, one day was quite enough and three weeks of cold weather down to -7C (19F). Cost of heating here in UK very high. I am worried the current cold weather in Canada and Mid USA will work its way round to me.

Get a 2L bottle of club soda (about $1.50) and use that instead of water to a cardboard can or tetra pak of orange juice from concentrate, it's like getting orange pop without the extra sugar. It's usually add 3 cans of water (or soda water) per can of orange juice concentrate.

Love the "Canadian" Christmas wrapping paper ... maple leaves, beavers, etc. ... :). And with such a big shop ... you have so much room to do your Christmas fun stuff that you can create your own adventure park! Your sharing together is always inspiring to see! Get a 2L bottle of club soda (about $1.50) and use that instead of water to a cardboard can or tetra pak of orange juice from concentrate, it's like getting orange pop without the extra sugar. It's usually add 3 cans of water (or soda water) per can of orange juice concentrate.
