I cannot thank you enough for the kind and sweet words you said about my mother-in-law’s sale. It made me cry. Your response and seeing how much you care about the pieces are exactly why we did it! Putting her precious collection into the hands of people as passionate about it as she was is the number 1 goal we had. Our family thanks you with our whole heart!
I wish we had her finished works on display that weekend so others could see the gift God gave her with the artistry, skill, and creativity in her many talents. We grieve the loss of a wonderful woman devoted to God and her family. I have no doubt she is already teaching classes and stitching in Heaven. She lived her life according to her favorite Bible verse

Erica, thank you so much for your sweet note. It really was an honor to be able to go to the estate sale. It was so touching to see and talk with your family as well as many of your mother-in-law’s friends.
She was an amazing needle woman, I wish I had been able to know her. . . . but I feel I know her a little going through (and starting) some of the items I purchased. She had a wonderful eye for putting items(linen/floss/charts) together and had such amazing needle working skills.
Thank you again for your note and for all the work you and the family put into the estate sale. May God Bless all of you and give you comfort during this time.

Trouble getting supplies? Try living in Australia! We rarely have access to Fox and Rabbit linen, amongst other linen. I now use, pretty, much exclusively, Number12StitchCo dyed linen. Easily found, rapidly delivered ( may have something to do with Nicola living in the next street😂) and fabulous to stitch on, and shipping isn't ridiculous. Don't question for one minute why you have so many kitted projects.....makes perfect sense.
    Stunning projects.

I enjoyed your video and hope to meet you at Hobby House. I finished the Rebecca Nurse project as well. The Scarlett Letter has a sampler by a descendant named Nancy Nurse. It has been stitched on dark green linen used by stitchers in eastern MA and NH. If you’re in the area, you should visit the Rebecca Nurse house.

Thank you for telling us about the Vicky Clayton variegated silk pack of the month. Yes, of course I stopped your video to go and order them….so sorry. Then I can right back to you. Lovely thoughtfulness of the stitcher who passed. Food for thought. Have a most enjoyable October, see you in November.

Love seeing all your kitted samplers!! I can’t imagine the sale you went to and it is so nice that you will enjoy the things you got there from the estate of another stitcher. How wonderful that the family offered them for sale and they didn’t end up in a dumpster!! If you would be interested in the NPI threads for the Map of HRH I have those and will not be using them. Happy Stitching!!

I would love to use the NPI silks if you are not going to use them. Please email me at the email in the description box and we can work out some details. Thank you so much!!

Thank you for another great video! Enjoy your stitching. I just finished "Forever and Ever" by Cottage Garden Samplings yesterday. I added some touches specific to our Grandson and his fiance who are getting married next year. Wanted to have it ready for framing as I'm not speedy. Am on my seventh pattern for 12 days of Christmas by the same designer. Also "Shores of Hawk Run Hollow" is waiting for some attention. Will be doing the fourth block. It's hard not to get ahead of myself because I basically switch off between a large project and a smaller one. That is what works for me!

The Nurse Family (Nourse) left Salem and moved to Westborough, MA. Its farm is across the street from where I live. The farmhouse is white. They raise a small herd of cattle. They also raise and sell raspberries and strawberries and have a large farm stand. The town has bought a a part of the farm to make sure it stays a farm. My name is Lisa. Bella and Chloe were my cats.

Your large samplers are amazing. What scroll rods or frame do you use to stitch such large patterns? I’m searching for frames or Potoky stand for smaller hoops. I would appreciate your insight.
Also loved your lesson on various silk threads for cross stitching which I have not used todate. Only used silks and metallics years ago when i did needlepoint using a laying tool to keep threads flat and play nice together. I have not ventured into silks thus far for cross stitch pieces.

Hi Sharon, thanks so much for your nice note, I appreciate it so much.
Mostly I use a 6 or 7 inch hoop along with my Potoky stand. I’ve tried stitching in hand as well as with a scroll rod, but (for me) find the hoop and Potoky stand works best.
I use the magnetic bands to hold the excess linen out of the way while I stitch. (I think I showed them in one of my early FlossTube videos. )
I do remove the hoop when I am finished stitching for the day. That helps prevent hoop marks and crushed stitches.
Thanks again for your note! 🙂

So many options for you to choose. I am a monogamous stitcher. Many of you long time floss tubers that I watch often purchase kits with a good comment that when you want to stitch, the correct supplies are in your hands. May I ask, how do you then file all the left-over flosses as there are bound to be duplicates?

    • @karencombsstudio
      @karencombsstudio  13 часов назад

@@noreencurry5901 Hi Noreen, thanks so much for your note.
I keep all of my flosses on a ring in alphabetical order by dyer - Weeks, Gentle Arts, etc.
When I finish a project, I put the floss back on the ring in alphabetical order. Sometimes, most of the floss is used and I don’t save it if it’s only a few strands. However, sometimes there is over half a skein (or more) left and I just put it back on the ring.
I am all right with having duplicates since some projects use more than one skein and you won’t know that till you get into the project. Just had to grab a second skein of Oscar for Mary Ann Copp and still have half the sampler to go. Having duplicates is handy in these circumstances.
Thanks so much for your note. 🙂

Karen, oh enjoy you so much. I know it's only #2 but still you have lots of information to share. Would like to know the best way to store linen. Hope it's not hanging up in a closet 🫢. Have a nice day❤

Hi Yvonne, so glad you enjoy the videos and thanks so much for your nice note!
I've heard several different things about storing linen, one is not to store in plastic. I would also store it away from heat and light. I know some people roll it for storage. I have mine stored in a fabric lined basket in a closet for now. Excellent question, I hope this helps a little blt. :)
