Seen a lot of comments sending hate towards Rudy, let me just make something very clear…Rudy has seen A LOT of combat, not just in War but in his personal life. Since he was a kid all he wanted to do was emulate his father and become a Marine, he succeeded and then later went onto pass Recon Selection. So instead of giving him hate, why don’t you be thankful he laid his life on the line for your safety.
They're mostly keyboard warriors. I'll admit I first heard about him through Generation Kill and then learned about him and he's nails. People don't understand that the stupid stuff in these shows is caused by the production companies. Ant Middleton spells it out very clearly what kind of nonsense is forced on them by those companies.
I think the negativity is perhaps coming from it being a British program ran be ex SF, so the only people you expect on it are ex pool or Hereford. There's a few units within the military that have a harder selection & trianing course than force recon, have a lot of specialist skills and have a lot of lads who have seen loads of combat, yet they're not SF because they're not in the group and are part of Thier brigades. If you're talking about trigger time and arduousness of training, the entry RM commando course demands more than force recon/ ranger rasp do....

The majority there was all either running away from a shit home life, or hitting 20 figuring out it's a place that would pay them. I didn't know any enlisted soldier that was for Queen and country. We were just there, and had each other. I wouldn't change it, even though I'm early 40s, 4 disks ruined, hips started to give me jip last few years, and ankles have never been right. I ,rolled one during training, tore the ligaments, and spent the last 3 months of basic, wrapping it in tape making a make shift cast, so I couldn't articulate my ankle. It never healed right. Or basic back then was 30 weeks. What I would change, I'd of gone in the navy and learnt a trade. Nah... But it is what I would advise anyone wanting to enter service. Make sure you leave with more than they take. Cos oh boy they take in the infantry. (Or RM in my case). If you're lucky youll can get a security job with your skill set!
When I was in the infantry we had a meeting with the SRR and they were recruiting and they showed us a slide and a video of what training and selection you you would do! Insane stuff! You never hear of the SRR but they do the proper James Bond shit over seas. They also said once you have completed selection and all the relevant training you would race from the top of Scotland to the bottom of the uk on super bikes! To quote ‘GSXR bikes’

The reason things were changed out is because the producers wanted to dictate how to run the show and who to keep in and who to drop, the original SAS instructors did not want to do that...

Coming from a U.S Marine, I love the SAS SBS. I have my favorites being Marine Raiders, Marine Recon, SEALS, as well as other U.S Special Forces like Delta Force. Though I favorite U.S Forces does not mean I dislikes British Special Forces. I feel like every country has their mirror like twin. In other words, the SEALS are the SAS and the SAS are like the SEALS. Though they have completely different training both Special Forces are top of their country. Much love to our brothers overseas to the Brits!

Us recon marine wouldn't get into the British boys scouts they have to make it easier the American have to spend two weeks learning which end the bullet come out of the gun
and why do they ALWAYS rank "vanilla" tier 2 seals in with the SAS and SBS, they should have found an ex seal team 6 tier 1 operator to fill the "seal" position and get a ex delta operator for the recon marine position so you would at least have all tier 1 operators as the instructors.
To be fair, the main instructor is a well known actor, he was in Generation Kill, as well as an ex recon marine. As a Brit, I don't mind who they use Rudy is cool though - we still respect your lads just as much mate

And way before there were SEALS, there was MARINE FORCE RECONNAISSANCE !

We have a lot of exchange programs at every level. EVERY level. Only the nation's absolute best get chosen to train in another nation. Then that person is groomed for the top slots in the service.
When the U.S. Army built the first special forces, Green Beret, all the military branches in America became jealous and started calling themselves special forces. Now everyone is special forces. In our little town the local girl scout troop now claims to be special forces and they say they are the original green berets
Getting tired of all these ex special forces guys minting it with the reputation of the units they were with. Old school guys kept it to them selves and didn't flaunt what they were part of and what they did. Respect is going down for these guys who seem to be now moved by popularism and money!

@@seanmullane4822 you need to check your facts, yes at first they declined to be part of SOCOM, but now they are. my unit 2 FORCE RECON was the first to join SOCOM in 2006 after being deactivated from FLEET, unfortunately i was already out when this happened, they train and deploy with the rest of the teams from all branches. And way before there were SEALS, there was MARINE FORCE RECONNAISSANCE !

We have a lot of exchange programs at every level. EVERY level. Only the nation's absolute best get chosen to train in another nation. Then that person is groomed for the top slots in the service.

When the U.S. Army built the first special forces, Green Beret, all the military branches in America became jealous and started calling themselves special forces. Now everyone is special forces. In our little town the local girl scout troop now claims to be special forces and they say they are the original green berets

Getting tired of all these ex special forces guys minting it with the reputation of the units they were with. Old school guys kept it to them selves and didn't flaunt what they were part of and what they did. Respect is going down for these guys who seem to be now moved by popularism and money!
These guys deserve the utmost respect but I hope this is not a some cheap reality show
