Yes, stand on business:) I did the same. Remember, when you cancel these places, you still have the remainder of your subscription if you need anything more. After that, search for things you want online. Go directly to the companies website. We may not be able to do it all, but I think even a little bit is better than nothing:)

Agreed! I live in Canada and Amazon has now shut down all of their warehouses in Quebec because one of the warehouses are now with a union, so they shut all of them down leaving over 2000 people without a job. I along with you haven't shopped at Amazon for a few years, I do not like how they treat their workers. Good on you Libby.

As for organizing, you can use all sorts of boxes instead of buying containers (using the bottom of a cereal box using skinny show boxes, etc). By using boxes, you can see how you like organizing things before committing to purchasing anything!

Nice to note that other people have the same principles. I live in the Netherlands, but I am also done with Amazon, including Facebook and Twitter. You can't block everything, but I do what I can do.
What a fantastic idea to count the chores and pull a new number every day. Both the surprise element and the preventing that I have to decide for myself what to do makes me happy!
I have another tip for you. Since a few months I have taught myself to fold all the plastic bags and empty garbage bags. It will surprise you how much you can store in a small plastic storage box and it is so satisfying not to find stuffed empty bags in the house anymore. Thank you for being who you are! I love all your videos.

You can find storage containers at the thrift stores. I know, they aren't as cheap as they once were, but they are still a lot cheaper than other stores. I found so many organizing containers and shelves there along with baking dishes, etc. We sold our home years ago and got rid of so much so we could travel without worrying about stuff. We recently started renting full time to have a home base & I needed so much & I found so many nice things at the thrift stores. Everything I have now has been thrifted, gifted or inherited and our place looks adorable. Good luck. Btw, forget Costco, its not worth it for 2 people. We joined & realized we have no room to store 18 rolls of toilet paper. We won't rejoin this year. Good luck.

I watched your video yesterday. I have opinions on big businesses backing candidates. Someone like Amazon should not be backing candidates one way or another. I am of the belief that businesses serve all people and therefore, should not go against or favor specific ideals. So, these businesses flip flopping back and forth deserve what they get. We should not put all our eggs in one basket. Meaning, don't become so reliant on one business that it becomes difficult to move on from them. Give other businesses that serve ALL communities a chance.

When I put down new, rolled linoleum in two smaller bathrooms in my last house,(a duplex we shared with my parents) I lined each bathroom cabinet and underneath the kitchen sinks with the extra pieces. It was awesome, super easy to clean any spills and saved the floor of the cabinet when one of the sinks leaked. You could also buy one box of “peel and stick” vinyl tiles and probably do the bathroom and kitchen cabinets. I would check a ReUzit store first, probably pretty cheap for one odd box.

Like being able to try clothes on in person-use those stores when you can. Like theater or band in your schools , sports go to their events even if you don't have kids. Like a bookstore to explore, use those. Use it or lose it applies to our communities.

I had one of those shelves in my amazon cart as well. lol I love Aldi though and will have to look there. They do get in some good organization stuff occasionally. But, they only get so many and then they're gone. Have you ever considered making your own natural cleaning and laundry products? There are easy recipes online with natural, simple ingredients, usually just two or three. You would save lots of money and the bonus is that they're non toxic and so much better for your health, not to mention the storage space you will free up. I use vinegar and water or peroxide and water to sanitize, sometimes alcohol. Dishwash liquid and water for cleaning just about anything. Baking soda when you need a little more cleaning. I seldom buy premade cleaners. I do like plant based cleaners. Method has an all purpose cleaner that I like. For laundry I like the recipe that uses arm and hammer washing soda, Borax and fels naptha soap. It works great and is so much cheaper than buying premade detergent. For organization things and other items for the house, also clothing, I like to shop thrift stores and yard sales. That's something simple that we can all do for our environment is to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our landfills are so full and if we all do our part by reusing what's already here we can make a huge dent in that. My favorite thrift stores are our local one where all the proceeds go to the humane society. And church operated ones that use the money to help people. All are staffed by volunteers. I'm not saying I don't enjoy a trip to homegoods or tj maxx occasionally but, I try to limit those trips. lol Edited to add, another bonus to natural cleaning products is, my son and I are rarely ever sick. I started using more natural products when I had my son, then started doing more research when he was diagnosed with tourettes syndrome at 4 years old and shortly after, with Autism. I wanted to cut down on toxic things going into our lungs and bodies. (My son will be 22 in February).

Great Job ! You Got this, Libby ! It could, also, help if you went to system of one bottle/box, that is stored behind or under the one that is being used or opened, at the time. This works for me. That way I never run out of something in the middle of what I am doing/or eating. Having the "spare" one stored, as your back up, lets you easily be able to continue with what you were doing or eating with the next spare bottle/box. This, then, gives you time to buy the new "spare" the next time you are shopping. This works, obviously, with your food as well as your cleaning products. When you only have a little bit left in your cereal box you can go right to your spare box of that cereal to have a full bowl ! And having only 2 of each thing cuts down on the space you need for inventory.
AND before I throw away the empty bottle/box I leave the used up/empty one out somewhere I will see it until I can put it on my Shopping List to buy the new spare the next time I am out.

@@lauramitchell6725 Laura, I'm always thinking ahead to the times when we get a bad storm, someone gets sick, I have car trouble so I can't get to the store, or even the store ran out of the product. So this method gives me more time to always be sure to have a good supply even when unexpected things come up. As I said before, when you are using the 1st product you can have another brand new "spare" & "back up" that is stored behind or under the current one that you have opened and are using. Then when the 1st is empty you can still continue on with the "spare" until you can buy your new spare when doing your regular shopping. And don't throw away the 1st bottle/box when it is empty until you write it's replacement on your future shopping list .... in order to buy your new "spare" again, later on. Leave the empty one out somewhere to remind you to write it on your list and then throw it away ! Hope that helps !

I felt every bit of your joy in this video… pulling a number you were excited to do, and happy it wasn’t a location you’re dreading, then the shock at how quickly you completed the task, the chain reaction of other areas that now have more room… all of it were things I experienced when I did this technique. I bet we’ve got similar brain chemistry because my response was so similar 😂 you’re motivating me to get a new magic fishbowl started myself! I want to do it for areas that need to be deep cleaned. Like annoying areas… between the washer & dryer, under the fridge, the bathtub, etc. I bet it’ll work for that pretty well too. 🎉
Also so completely totally with you when it comes to ditching Amazon, etc. No big companies in capitalist America are perfect, but I agree that some are better than others. I buy secondhand whenever possible. Buy Nothing groups on Facebook (I know, ick to Facebook) but even yard sales and estate sales are great places to find used items (like storage containers, home decor, etc). I’m still shopping at Ralph’s, Costco, local small businesses, and our local farmers’ market. But to be honest shopping small usually also means more expensive - understandably so since it’s not stuff made in china with cheap labor. But if I buy (consume) less in general then I don’t feel as bad spending more at a local shop to get one or two things vs the 17 things I’d get at target that I don’t really need lol 😂

I know that you are much younger than me,but in time you will find that you dont need to buy that many things. The main thing i end up buying is dawn powerwash, and bleach. Those two items will clean almost anything. I had so many cleaning products that i never used. Less inventory saves money and space.

I only buy Dawn,Magic Erasers, and OXYCLEAN.( Not just for laundry,I also scrub my white dishpan clean and leave some in the toilet bowl for a few hours) Once I discovered that Windex had wax in it,😖😵‍💫I clean all of my mirrors and glass with a wet washcloth and wipe dry with another.

I have a roll of very thick shelf liner that I bought a long time ago in a discount store. I lined under my sink with it. It's plastic so it doesn't leak through if something leaks. I also live in a small apartment in New York and had to organize everything. I love to watch you for ideas. Keep up the good work!

Looks great. I suggest the mugs on the top rack be turned upside down. They could easily tip over & fall. Maybe get a plastic bin for your trash bags & Kleenex. The Dollar Tree has small bins with a handle that you could place your extra sponges in; hang on the hook.

Walmart can kick rocks, they did me dirty and I'm not one to forget being called a thief and a liar when their cashier overcharged me for some produce. An event I like to call "Grand Theft Cucumber." Like people are walking out with big screen televisions and they think I'm going to steal a vegetable that's 90% water. I also cancelled our business card at Sam's Club.
I keep very little under my sink, dish washer tabs, Pine-Sol, vinegar, appliance polish, and my paper towel dispenser.

I have a similar organizational shelving under my bathroom sink area...but yours looks like it rolls better than mine. It does help a lot with space saving though...so will keep mine for now. I need to get a few of those cabinet shelves like you have in kitchen for your mugs. I have several mugs as well for when family comes over. Also want one for vitamins and supplements. Enjoyed video.

I love thrift stores because, I a reusing things that might end up n the landfill sooner rather than later. But ye using lifts do increase your space exponentially. Like surplus could get stored up way above cups. Great video today!

    I love your soap box.
Here is what companies I cannot buy from: Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby and Walmart. Companies treat Women employees badly.
What are thoughts about Target and Home Depot?
I love to hear where to shop instead of Amazon. No I am never going to buy from Temu.
    Truly hate Amazon.
TJ Maxx stores trigger my anxiety. So crowd. KOHL'S does the same.
I don't find things at Home Goods. Found there is limited supply. If you don't buy it when see it they will never have it again.
Thanks for standing up moral values.

@@SimplyLibbytI don't wonder: You just need to discover all of your to-do places once. Then the pick from the bowl makes it obsolete to think again and again and again about what needs to be done and make the decision what to do next. You can easy accept what to do now and have a quick start and even done experience which is encouraging you for the next pick: focussing one task and get it done.
Everyone needs to find a way which works for just you.
Actually I'm thinking 🤔 about changing from doing the dishes in the morning while preparing coffee (no machine, just hand brew) to the evening before starting to watch TV. It's so pleasant to come into a clean kitchen in the morning but some days the energy level in the evening is too low to handle the dishes... To implement it as a daily routine and to follow that "whatever gonna happen, I'll do the dishes", I think I will stay with the morning as my energy level is constantly higher at mornings.
