I wish I knew how to ride. I think it would be awesome to 'hit the trails', so to speak, and ride in the mountains of Alaska and Montana; living like real cowboys did.
I'm a few years late to the party but I want to tell you that I'm impressed by how well you immediately take the saddles off the horses when you reach hour daily destination. It's important to unburden them as soon as you can as you do. I like the spacious area you enclose for them for grazing on lush grass, your dog seems happy and in great shape. You treat your animals very well. It gets you two thumbs up from me. Well done gentlemen ! Keep up the great work and thank you for taking us along for the ride. Very enjoyable !!
You guys are bad asses! The most real survivor videos out there on RUclips. Keep it that way, please-not about the gear but about the wilderness and our place in it, unabashed.
Brilliant. Some very confident riding at the beginning lad's, nice. This video is more to home for me, I spent over 2 years living on the road horse drawn with a friend, I lived in a Gypsy Bender and had a 2 wheeled flat cart and he had himself a very nice Open Lot Wagon, our setups were pulled by our Welsh Cobs of around 14:2 hand's, we lived a lot off the land mainly and foraged out of food skips when we could, this video is where my head was totally at nearly 30 year's ago. Thank you and atvb to you both. Paul.
Wow, simple lookinf but great video. The edit in the beginning was supreme. I like that you show real struggles like the difficult fire without malking it seem like part of a dramtic arc. The breakfesttalk was smooth.
This was a really beautiful place, scenery & loved the horses and Jaeger along! It was too short! I hate to see you guys freezing, wet and miserable! But when you go somewhere like this then it"s a pleasure to watch!
Greetings from America, you guys are fun to watch, especially the tall skinny one, he's a hoot. Horseback bush crafting is what I want to do. Awesome work gents, keep it up.
Thanks for the great video. Took me back. I'm from the western state of Nevada. I working cattle ranches when I was younger and my sport was rodeo. In fact my first couple of deer hunting trips were on horse back. My dog and constant companion back then was a red heeler. An amazing breed for all day everyday travels through the Great Basin Desert of Nevada. Keep the fun on camera and continue to share. Thanks again!
We would hobble horses and mules and let them graze. Lead animal gets a cowbell around the neck. Some people use portable electric fences but Moose tend to knock em down and your in for a big hike. We always take pack animals....makes camp more tolerable. Allows for things like a stove, chairs, horse feed, etc. We log dead wood for fire by tying off to the tail. Their tails are strong. Find a couple of books online. “Packing in on horses and mules” the other is “Horses, Hitches and Rocky Trails” written by Smoke Elsner and Joe Back respectively. Good luck!
I don't know why it took me so long to watch this one. It's a gem and what an adventure. Just learned to ride horseback last year and this is an inspiration. Great work!
I think people getting out on horseback into the back country is awesome and such a disappearing art. So important. I have nothing but respect for you guys. And just remember this......lots of horse snobs out there...... if all the members make it back in one piece? And you had fun? Your doing it right!
One of my favorite camping trips was a week-long adventure up in the mountains of New Mexico with my horse and some friends. I also slept in a hammock with a tarp and was privileged to enjoy the nightly meeting of a band of coyotes as they got together on a rise not far from me to swap stories. My horse didn't mind, as he was used to coyotes.
Great to hear that you subscribed, Bushcraft Beats! It isnt that long ago, that all men were as fast as the horses carrying them! it sure is a great way of transport, tho they dont have an on/off button! You will see more horse action in the future but also other stuff! thanks for commenting! Dylan & Julius
Guys, I just found your channel and I´m really amazed how enjoyable your videos are. The footage is great and there is always such a lovely athmosphere. The humor between the two of you is very entertaining aswell. This is the second comment on youtube I´ve ever made, so be sure about it, that I´m really impressed. As I´ve rushed through your playlists, I really need to see more, new stuff from you guys now. Please continue your smooth work and I can tell, you have fixed my day. Peace.
Whow! Your words put a big smile on my face, mate! Just your second comment;) what an honor! It's a little quite now with the camera's, but definitely some fresh content to come in the future. See you on the next one;) All the best, Julius
I like your channel, subscribed ;) Especially like that you have animals with you, companions. Hope you will be able to keep the channel going. Good luck and greetings from Hungary ;)
Omg I love this channel and your horses. What you guys do is amazing the camera shots and the content. I love and admire that you love animals and nature I would love to do something like this someday. Keep up the amazing work. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That music when putting up camp is the same music Mr.Sark uses when he is being chased in a video game or something risky is happening. I felt my blood pressure rise throughout that scene, on edge like a mountain climber.
Amazing Video. Beautiful horses and the German Shepperd was fast! Nice way to move in the woods...hope to see that kind of video again....greetings from Germany
Great way indeed, but also a little unpractical especially with housong the horses during the night;) Hopefully more iof this in the future. Cheers, Julius
Well done, well conditioned horses. I can say, I loved jumping my horses too. Some really unique about feeling them load up and then spring through the air.
Very unique and awesome video I liked the galloping scenes from 0:55 to 2:28 specially at 1:54 that view from the top as you guys gallop by, so cool. Do more of mounted bushcraft. Thanks
Its pretty wild to think that this is how a majority of humans lived for thousands of years before cities and cars and the industrial revolution. Most human beings traveled by horseback (or on the back of a similar caliber pack animal like Alpacas or Donkeys) and they survived on the elements until they reached the next small village or local inn. They did what theu had to do to survive and make it to rheir destination. Even scholars, kings, emporers and merchants had to travel this way. It was the only way to travel from place to place over a very long distance. Whole families would ravel by horseback through mountains, rivers, snow and rain to get where they needed to be. Its just so amazing there are people who still do it and keep that part of humam history alive in the modern day!
I wachted this film with tante Carla (you remember who she is?). She admires it very much and all the work you had to do for this. She will recommend you tube to her children. Geweldig!
Yep it sure is! i guess alot of modern irish horseriding comes from the english style... a bit lame if you ask me but it is what it is;) Cheers.! Dylan
Really great beginning to the video,i loved the horse action shots jumping over logs on horseback with your dog great video all around, please be sure to make more videos like this
Did you guys lease your horses and how long have to actually ridden? To me I would be suprised if you guys took like max. 10 classes and just set off. :D Edit: 4:35 I recommend lifting the stirrups up and putting them in the "lock" so the saddle won't be as damaged and the horses won't spook.
spotted Juleuse`s love to lentils just want to notice that pearl barley is also good and fillfulling base for soups so call Scottish vegetable soup with pearl barley and celery is my favorite
Nice, you don't see enough overnight riders able to ride at speed and cover real ground without their packs coming apart. Going up gill grab handfull of mane to keep your weight and saddle forward.
It's called a duster coat a lot of companies make them bye different names I can't say which one he is wear but in my opinion if you want to get one the outback trading co duster is the best bang for your buck being around $120 or around 100 euros I love mine and where it whenever I get the chance. But. I'm sure you cam find cheaper ones if you desire
that's got to be the happiest dog ever. lol , running with horses through the forest, being a wild boy.
My dogs get to live this paradise too +chase grizzly bears
The dog is having the time of his lifetime
Adventures on horseback is unlike any other means of travel! Non horse people are missing out
It's my dream to do but I cant afford a hose😔
I wish I knew how to ride. I think it would be awesome to 'hit the trails', so to speak, and ride in the mountains of Alaska and Montana; living like real cowboys did.
Aren’t Ted I can do any trail u can do on horse back on my dirtbike
