Great episode, as usual, with fine carpentry, faithful and affectionate chicken interlude, and your mentioning the background growl of the river. Thank you for that because it brought back a dim and almost forgotten memory of when I worked in Yellowstone National Park during the summers. There, like your Alpine 'roar', the Firehole river played a constant rumble in the background on a daily basis to where you almost didn't hear it anymore. It was when we went out of the park for shopping or whatever that you noticed it being no longer there and you couldn't wait to get back to its constant song. It's enticing and being away from it for 62 years it still sings in the depths of my memories. And you brought it back to me with this episode and I am eternally grateful. Thank you.

The power of water is frightening sometimes, but your hike along the River was probably the most beautiful I've seen on your show so far. It's so nice to see you taking care of yourself by embracing nature around you. All around you are vibrant and lush scenes; no wonder you seem so content with the life you have chosen. So much rain here also, too depressing. The chickens are so wonderful, it is so good that the white one has totally recovered her enthusiasm (and tail feathers) for life, following her trauma last year. Thank you.
You have done beautiful work on the panels. I have learned something helpful with the pegging. Like you, I would always wipe away the excess glue with my finger. But I was shown a better way, to let the glue extrusions dry untouched. They then easily come off with a flat chisel and require little sanding. The risk with wiping comes from the likelihood of the glue staining the surrounding wood from a smear. And you don't notice it until you put down stain, further complicating the job of removal. A valuable lesson. Bedtime is such a pleasant moment after a long day. When you lay down your head, gazing around at that magnificent firewall, the stone and the panels, you heart must brim with satisfaction and comfort. You have made home so beautifully. Much love ❤️

Perhaps consider making a long 18"×16' iron firewood rack with iron support bars every 12" to 18" so it can easily bear the weight, to keep the firewood off of the ground and just mere inches away from the stone wall of your amazing home. This aids in preventing insect infestation, rodent habitation, etc.. My father did this and it served him well for the remainder of his life. My brother lives there now and it is still serving his family well. I also find that wooden door so beautiful, warm, and inviting to look at. What a wonderful find and piece of work. I am so moved by your love and care for your chickens. I, too, have hens. Besides giving me eggs for meals, they actually enjoy my company, follow me around, and talk to me. Such awesome little creatures.
Nothing compares to the beauty of the forest and peaceful rivers. And the feathered puppies are just adorable! Thank you for including us in your journey Martijn.
Your chickens have the status of household dogs and they behave accordingly, following your commands 🙂 Your carpentry skills have grown to a professional level, and it is a real pleasure to watch the architectural development of your home. Thank you. Your videos are interesting documentaries, and I am sure that many would like to buy the entire collection after your buildings are finished (though home buildings are never finished...).
GLAD YOU DECIDED TO DO WITHOUT THE EXTRA TRIM . IT LOOKS MUCH NICER. HERE'S A TIP. BUY FEW PIECES OF DOWEL ROD AND CUT THEM TO SIZE TO MAKE YOUR SCREW HOLE PLUGS. IT WILL BE EASIER AND FASTER TO DO WITH LESS SANDING TOO. THE PANELING LOOKS FANTASTIC.
Love those pet chickens and how they respond to you. Eagerly await the fencing for your pets. Animals are great, but not unless you have someone to care for them when you travel and shelter for them in winter. Also, love the water (river and stream) sounds. I agree with @sahlaamorris. I have watched this channel since the beginning. It is by far my favorite RUclips channel; hands down. I realize now that the channel is not about the Italian Alps, a creative artist / photographer, an antique house restorer or a world traveler and documentarian. It is about a man and his chickens. This channel has everything: drama, evocotive landscape, the strong silent lead man and most of all his adoring chickens LOL !!!!!! Keep it up; I love it Martijn.

Thank you for allowing us to follow, explore, and vicariously dream of other pathways to live. Looking forward to the warmer weather and the friends it brings your way to keep moving forward.
How very nice to sit there in the morning sun with breakfast and hear the river. Your chickens, well their just to cool. Have a blessed week.
that is a stunning waterfall. i hope you return there and we can see it in all its moods.
Wat heb ik weer genoten van deze aflevering ,tot volgende week.
Chickens are the right pets for Martijn..they also have the added benefit of laying eggs....
Your chickens have the status of household dogs and they behave accordingly, following your commands 🙂
Your carpentry skills have grown to a professional level, and it is a real pleasure to watch the architectural development of your home. Thank you.
Your videos are interesting documentaries, and I am sure that many would like to buy the entire collection after your buildings are finished (though home buildings are never finished...).
Good evening from Cebu, Philippines 6:40 PM. Here again for Sunday evening habit 😊
The panelling is a work of art.
Martijn makes my Sunday mornings. I love the way the chickens follow him around.
Love those pet chickens and how they respond to you. Eagerly await the fencing for your pets. Animals are great, but not unless you have someone to care for them when you travel and shelter for them in winter. Also, love the water (river and stream) sounds. I agree fancy is not always the best choice.
Are you against animal abuse?
Hello Martijn, I’m on my own here in Canada. My husband is visiting family in Amsterdam with our daughter. It’s a drissly morning and there is no better way to spend it than watching an episode of yours.
Martijn has a special way of living. How adorable to see the chickens following him
I’ve been watching your videos for quite awhile and I love watching the progress. The place is evolving into a really nice , peaceful homestead. I’m impressed and inspired.
Your stone walls are just so beautiful. All that hard work pointing and cleaning has paid off so much! More chickens are needed! Ooof, about time for gardening. Get some cucumbers going on a trellis this year.
Cabins come a long way looking really good. Love how the chickens follow and talk to you.
He has made these adoreable chickens into media stars. They follow Martijn around like puppies, they talk to him and the evoke such emotion!!!! This channel has everything: drama, evocotive landscape, the strong silent lead man and most of all his adoring chickens LOL !!!!!! Keep it up; I love it Martijn.
The chickens are like dogs with how they follow you around. The wood panelling is looking really good, you got loads done even though it was a frustratingly rainy week. You always choose such beautiful music, I love the piece you chose to accompany you on your walk by the river.
Thank you Martjin, great beauty on the wall panels your attention to detail makes it look like art!
Dark with lighter wood looks cool the edges are a nice touch 👌☮️

What happened today? I hope you´re not ill! A Sunday without Martijn is a weird Sunday! Hope you´re ok!
The woodworking looks terrific! I love those chickens ❤
That is some view you are rewarded with as you enjoy your coffee on the bench. Especially after a hard days work. Your paneling turned out beautifully. I can see you're an artist and a perfectionist. Thanks for sharing your journey.
