The first $5000 of revenue from this video will be donated to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation: www.sanjaymortimerfoundation....
I can't set this fundraiser in RUclips itself, because the Foundation isn't a US 501(c)3, which is a requirement to use the feature. The SMF is a registered UK charity, with similar responsibilities to an American nonprofit.
Our Patrons made this tribute possible. This was a difficult but important video for me, and I'm glad I could finish it.

Thanks to E3D for allowing us to tour their factory, setting up SMRRF, and just being great people. Thanks to 3DMusketeers, Josef Prusa, and countless others who helped me understand Sanjay's legacy. Thanks to Sanjay himself for playing a short but crucial role in my channel's history. I still have all those filaments he sent.

@@shamalagovindasamy9120the pieces of your talk in this video made me think of my mom parenting me. It also inspires me to get back to the crazy antics of my past. Never forget that your son’s impact is also your impact in an indirect kind of way. Whenever my mom gets compliments about her kids she refuses to take credit and just says “I did get lucky being given such great children” but I can without a doubt say at minimum 75% of my positive traits exist because of her and how she raised us and I refuse to let her ignore the part she played. i don't need to marry my failures i need to pursue what brings me joy and ill find a space for me. its amazing seeing someone like me so fondly remembered and beloved for all of his traits, not just the ones that made him a good worker.

The Revo is a triumph of engineering, a worthy successor to the very successful V6 that itself set the standard for hotends in hobbyist 3D printing. That's not marketing, that's my experience and the experience of many others. The big flaw of the V6 in my opinion was the fact that you had to hot-tighten the nozzle and I was never sure if it was tight enough, I always got leaks at the heater block. Putting the threads way up in the heatsink is a brilliant solution that should be the standard even if that means more pricey nozzles.
My mind has been blown away by the Hemera extrusion system. Sanjay is the GOAT 3D printing engineer.

I was getting a bit teary-eyed at the end, then you hit me with Sanjay Squirtimer... I blame you for the fluids that went through my nose...
Also, Micah, congrats on the wedding!

Fucking hell, back then his death hit me hard just CAUSE he was so enthusiastic about his stuff. I loved the way he interacted with people, I think cause he expressed the enthusiasm I feel and mostly supress. Making is fun, but hard. You have to have the skills, but mostly you need mental resilience to brake through your issues and finish the damn thing. Seeing him and his example was always great.
I'm sure this video wont perform like another "every filament" one, but this to me is way more important and meaningfull. The self reflection you put out for the whole world to hear must be incredibly hard. I mostly wont allow myself to make such confessions in my head, and you just put them out there.
I'm not good with words, but for some reason this video resonated deeply with me, thank you for that. What a lovely way to tribute one of the most important people to the hobby thats so important to us.

I'm crying. I think I need to quit my day job. I didn't know who Sanjay was, but I know a lot of his stuff and it makes me realize I'm not just a failed maker with bad ideas who's given up and gone corporate to provide for his family. There's so much more that I want to contribute to the world than that. Thank you Zach for making this video ❤

When I was researching products getting ready to buy my 3D printer, I always wondered why 0.4mm was the "standard" nozzle size. Everything came with that exact nozzle.
I just always assumed it was because some team of PHD engineers tried every possible combination of parts and thats just what worked best.
I never wouldve guessed it was because it was the cheapest drill bits some guy in his shed could afford. But thinking about it now, _of course_ that's how it happened. The entire 3D printing industry is built off of stuff like that.

Unfortunately I never met Sanjay, yet I felt I knew him through his various appearances on different RUclips creators' videos. His incredible enthusiasm for what seemed like any topic you like was infectious. I could watch him talk for hours. He was an incredible human and leaves both an amazing legacy and a massive hole in so many lives. SMRRF was an awesome, emotional event, especially listening to everyone who truly knew Sanjay share their stories. Thank you Zack for this lovely tribute to one of the brightest stars in the additive manufacturing world.

My brother asked for a 3d printer several years ago for his birthday and had a great time with it but over the years drifted towards other things. I bought him a spool of the wood filament for his birthday last year as a gag gift, I had shared the cursed filaments video with him and he loved it.
Apparently that spool gave him a second wind for the hobby. You inspired at least one person with that series.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but E3D had another printer the E3D BigBox. It wasn't a viable venture for them in the end but it's worth a mention. Had the chance to buy one and regret not doing so. I like collecting that sort of thing.

as this is the first i am hearing about Sanjay Mortimer
he sounds like a man that would not let someone fail because they did not try nor would he let hims self fail for not trying
he also sounds like the kind of person to find things interesting and incorporate them as part of his knowledge even if he never uses it
all i can say is we need more people like him in the world

Your fast-paced ADD approach is inspiring to me, at my young age of 65. I wish I has known Sanjay. He was one of my biggest inspirations in moving into the world of neurodivergent creativity pointed at self-taught engineering. I wanted him to succeed to know we (of the short attention spans) can actually succeed and leave mark on thew world around us.
