  • A special event was held over the Easter Sunday to celebrate 100 years of Wallasey Corporation Transport. Surviving Wallasey buses went on a special tour joined by a few other buses from Merseyside Transport Trust and Northwest restoration trust. Organised by the Wirral Transport museum the tour visited a number of sites including Seacombe Ferry terminal, Seaview Road ( ex Garage site ) and New brighton stopping for photo shoots at each location. after new brighton buses headed back to the Museum for a special photo shoot with the surviving buses of Wallasey Corporation Transport together with Tramcar 78 A Wallasey Corporation Tram.

    It really was a cracking day Paul. The buses & tram looking superb. Am sure there were a few double takes from the people of Wallasey

    The first Atlantean bus featured in this video is not an original Wallasey Bus, at least not in in it's original livery! As you can see the Bus is S registered, late 70s I believe. The yellow livery ended around 1970 as I remember, when they changed to Blue and Cream with Birkenhead Corp and later they went to Green and Cream similar to Liverpool. The original Wallasey Leyland Atlanteans were first introduced between 1959/61 and were indeed yellow (sea green) and cream and were the first ever production Atlanteans seen anywhere. Two of the first batch are shown in this video, one yellow one Blue.
