  • It's time to start looking for a replacement for my trusty Coast penlight. I really like it and it has a lifetime warranty, but I would like a penlight that will live through years of abuse. Please let me know of any recommendations you have. I would like to go with some of the less widely known brands like Thrunite, Olight, Nitecore, but will also consider the proven ones like Streamlight as well.
If you're interested in the Coast HP3R, it looks like they have an updated design with 385 lumens, now and a few different specs.
Let me know what you use and like.

I carried the streamlight stylus pro for about 4 years and I still use it occasionally as my backup light that I've been running the coast for about 3 years I lost my first one about a year and a half ago so I got the newer one that has a mouthpiece and I absolutely love that it makes running a flashlight a lot easier for me. It would be hard to change my light at this point its with me 24/7 and i use it constantly throughout the day.

I’ve been abusing my pen light for almost 10 years. It’s a stream light stylus pro.
The new stream light micro stream is rechargeable and does 250 lumens.
Streamlight has a clone of the Hp3r in the form of a stylus pro rechargeable plus sized.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences out of streamlight. I just bought an hp3r. Hopefully it lasts for me.
I’ve also run an olight eos 2. Pretty good edc light for the money. 18.99

They are decent lights. I just had to do a return on mine and they gave me an updated one with 500 lumens. I've been checking it out for the past few weeks. Seems to have been updated a bit in design, too. Hopefully things are just getting better for it. I'm waiting till their website to update before I make a video about this one

I started out with the 45 lumen streamlight stylus pro and carried it for 3 years with no issues. I used eneloop AAA's and they worked fine. I wanted something a little brighter so I upgraded to the 100 lumen stylus pro usb and have carried it a few years. I highly recommend the streamlight. I also recently bought the Milwaukee Aaa penlight and love it also. I like the color of the light better and I also like the bite grip.

That’s interesting, as I am thinking about moving up with my light to a Coast HP3. I currently have the Olight 3T EOS and 3T Plus. They are 20 and 30 dollars, the plus is definitely worth the extra money. The thing I don’t like about them is that the turbo mode quickly drops lumens in brightness, on both of them. But for cheap(ish) pen size lights I do like them and they are durable. If anyone is unsure of the brand I would definitely start with 3T Plus. However I’m looking to upgrade to Coast.

@@WindwalkerHomestead You sound like me, I’ll never get rid of a flashlight as long as it works! The Olghts I mentioned are more budget then the Coast. Obviously they also make higher end products that are more compatible to the Coast.

@@WindwalkerHomestead I messed up my mini mag light by trying to get the updated led into it. I did have to throw that one away. Please do a review of whatever you decide on for your new light.
