Anyone can lose weight, even in their 60s and 70s. My mom topped out at 320. She decided she didn't want the weight related health problems her siblings had, so she dropped 55 lbs. at age 64, and then dropped an astonishing *100 lbs* with Weight Watchers. She used determination and faith in God to do it. She wanted to slim down more than she wanted the food. And you don't have to knock yourself out with aerobics or strenuous exercise. My mom did it by walking, usually 3 10-minute sessions in the house or around a big store like Wal-Mart. Let her be your inspiration! She made it a lifestyle, and she's maintained her weight for almost 12 years!

Wow! Weight loss, healthy eating AND retirement....YAY! Congratulations guys. Yes, I'm inspired to do just the same. My husband has 2 days left before retirement, too. We are moving to Arkansas in about 2 weeks. I can hardly wait to learn Trout Fishing on the White River. Love ya, Darlene. xoxo
Hi Darlene 👋 Congratulations! 👍😁👍♥️. Iv tried but always fail. I see other people lose over 100 lbs. yes this guy at church looks so good. He’s also in his 60’s. The salad looks so good.

Congrats on losing the weight. The dinner looks delicious. I came over from Amy Marion’s channel. Really enjoy your channel your channel so far. I’m a 64 Christian wife, mother and grandmother. I’m a breast cancer survivor who has now been fighting oral cancer twice 8/19 and 10/23. I’m waiting because they believe it’s back again. I became disabled in 2005 with my first migraine which caused me to have a stroke. All of this has caused me to be bed bound. I love the Lord and studying his Word. God bless you.

Congratulations on your weight loss and lowering your A1C! I’ve been on the DASH diet for about 2 years now. I have Afib and hypertension and really have to watch salt intake. When I do use salt, I use the Pink Himalayan. I have to read every label of food I buy. Convenience frozen foods are the worst. Before I retired, I would take Lean Cusine or something frozen to put in microwave for my lunch. I sure wasn’t helping myself. I also eat foods high in protein and we raise our own beef. Unfortunately I’m not a big meat person but I eat it occasionally, but do eat chicken and some fish. I’ve lost 50 pounds but need to lose more. God bless you and Lou on your health journey. It’s a struggle sometimes but God will help us. We only need to ask. Thanks so much for the tips and would love more videos like this. I’m 70. God bless. 🙏♥️😊
Congratulations Darlene! You look beautiful! Delicious looking Salad, homemade bread, and Steak. I need and have wanted to for a while to make sour dough bread. When I was growing up a german family lived next door. So my friend who lived next door, taught me to make bread by hand, but I didn’t keep up the habit, with raising a big family and working. So now I have little bread machine that I use. It’s just my husband and I now, and we don’t eat a lot of bread unless my grandchildren come over. I have seen recipes for sour dough in bread machine using the dough cycle, then you take it out, put it in a pan and let it rise in a pan. I need to try it. Thank you for sharing another wonderful video.❤️✝️🙏.
Good to see you Dee. If you ever decide to begin sourdough let me know. I’d be happy to send you some of my starter. That way you can bake right away and forget the starter step.
I’m so sorry you’re struggling. I totally understand. I try to remind myself of the joy of stepping on the scale and watching the numbers go down. Or fitting into the next size down. Or mostly for me the greatest joy is great blood work numbers. That brings me joy!! But I hear you-the daily struggle is REAL!! I hope you subscribe so we can cheer each other on😁. I didn't think about making a healthy salad, with such a yummy variety of different things on top! Thank you so much! It motivates me to eat healthy more!
congrats on Lou's retirement! My husband is in his second week of retirement as well! We celebrated this past sunday with our boys! congrats on your weight loss as well! Do you remember Richard Simmons? the exercise guru? He never said "diet" he always said "live it"! I watched him all of the time back in the 80's! loved the video and thanks for sharing! xoxo
Hi there. Wow. Congratulations to you guys too. We celebrated two weeks ago with our sons and their families. It was so special. Yes. I loved Richard!!! ❤️
I love your laugh. Your simple instructions too. Thank you for the inspiration. Congratulations on your husband’s retirement and your weight loss. Dinner looks divine
Congrats on your weight loss Darlene we need our meat very well done or we gag we were brought up to cook our foods to well. Shredded cheese has a form of flour or cornstarch on it grated cheese contain saw dust
I just found this channel 😂I am 65 years old and I just started my weight loss program. I was happy to see that you are around my age😂I see all these younger ones that go to the gym and workout for hours and that is nothing I want to do. I know I have to exercise myself but I don't want that. Where do you find the thin sausage patties? I love how thin they are. I am subscribing to your channel also. Thanks again for this channel❤
Welcome Mabel. I’m so happy to have you here. We get the sausage patties frozen at Aldi. They are not organic but they’re sooo good😌. Lord bless, leave me a comment again sometime so we can be friends!!
Oh Becky I’m thrilled you are here. I’m going to be filming a sourdough starter video very very soon. I’ve promised my friends for too long so I really need to do it. You will be excited to see how easy and fun it is to do. I just love it. Welcome☺️🇺🇸
I love this meal. It looks fabulous. I just started following you and this is my second video and it all looks amazing.!! One thing I would do if I were you do differently is mix the ranch packet without mayo unless you make your own and just use a whole fat Greek yogurt taste really yummy. I use it for dipping vegetables all the time. Give it a try and it gives you more protein Instead of sour cream that gives you let me know if you like it🤗
Just found you today! I make my ranch with a packet of the ranch seasoning, cottage cheese, and milk or water to thin to the right consistency. (I avoid seed oils so this works great for me.)
You’re doing great. We try to eat 25 or less carbs a day. I have been doing this for 4 years and would not trade the weight loss or my renewed health for anything!!
Not everything will be diet foods, cause I’m always baking or cooking for something but I’ll be showing you lots of tips and tricks and simple suppers to help us along. ☺️
My husband was diagnosed with diabetes in Feb. He has lost 15 lbs. We grow a huge garden each year. We have been making vegetable stir fry with salmon.
Cheryl, I don’t feed mine everyday but it does need some feeding in order to start the fermenting process I store it in the fridge most of the time. I make it as easy as possible. I’ll do a video!😁🇺🇸
Hi Darlene! It’s Terry Hendrickson. Congratulations to Lou on theRetirement! And I’m enjoying your video! I’ve been low-carb for six years now and I still don’t know how to make a steak that well. I’ll try your method.
Thank you Darlene!!!! I cannot wait to try the sourdough recipe! Have you ever thought about using Greek yogurt in place of sour cream? I love it. Beautiful video. ❤
Congratulations on that major weight loss 🎉. I tried the Spindrift Sparkling water at Sam's Club and didn't really like it. I am sold on SPARKLING ICE Lemonade flavors. Plus Walmart's CLEAR AMERICAN sparkling water flavors. My favorite of those are Red Whiite & Blue Pop. I do love more vegetables now since hitting 63. Actually less meat with the exception of bacon 😋 which I love. Thank for all the information.
i luv those mission tortillas with peanut butter, a thin 1/4 slice Length wise( I share banana with Hubby) of bananna, chopped pecans or walnuts and cinnamon. Roll up in damp papper towel and microwave for 30-40 seconds to melt peanut butter. ( Can substitute cream cheese mixed with a few drops liquid vanilla stevia and strawberries instead of banana)
I'm a new subscriber, watching you just made me feel good. I'm 65 and I have been struggling with weight since I quit smoking. I smoked for 40 years, six years ago I quit, I'm so glad I did, but just gaining weight and craving sweets. I need to lose 50 lbs., I know I can do it, but it is hard. My favorite bible verse is, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Wow! You have done amazing! I’m so inspired by you! I have Type 2 diabetes and am trying to lose weight and reverse it. I’m down one pants size and hope to keep going down. I have 110 pounds to lose. I need to get rid of inflammation and joint pain. I want to be off medication. Your video gives me hope! All the foods you showed are so delicious and everything I could eat!
Oh Tammy we sound like twins. I have never felt better since eating this way. I have a long way to go also but I’m actually excited about it. I wish you the very best. Keep me posted. Lord bless, Darlene
Thank you for posting! It is really great healthier eating is paying off for you! I tend to eat at least some of the outside of the cucumbers and I always eat organic spinach since it is much healthier than plain lettuce I really like the butter lettuce tho. Best, from Colorado!
Another amazing post and it looks like I watched this before. Hmm. I will say I have no idea how you can afford all that meat. Wow! Even one steak is like $15 and I can't imagine the price of organic bacon. Maybe Whole Foods carries that. I'll have to take a look at your sourdough posts. I haven't done much bread, especially sourdough. Salad looks great -- I always eat organic spinach - spinach is one of the products that I do spend the $$ on for organic. Best, from Colorado!
Nope. I never shop at Whole Foods. We get our beef at Costco. Yes it’s expensive but Lou and I share one steak. So we get our moneys worth. One steak is just a little too much for me. Yes we pick and choose our “organic” products carefully too. Whoa!! I don’t know why it has to be so expensive?!?!
I have a fruit berry smoothie 4 am then first meal 10-10:30 am and last meal of day 4-4:30 pm. Love the unreal, red pepper hummus with veggies for snacks and homemade organic oat milk. My body loves the fasting! Of course all should seek their own medical team for direction for their health. Do want to say my dietitian suggested I have the fiber rich foods before having my proteins at meal times.
Congratulations Darlene for all the tips to eat healthy. I love your salad and i am very happy that you dont take medication for your A1C that is awesome. You just inspired me to eat better and exercise . Thank you so much. Blessings
As an RN/RD, I think you're doing a wonderful job in adapting to new foods and a new way of eating. The only thing I would suggest is to go easy on the red meat. Yes, it's a good source of protein and iron, not to mention it tastes amazing, but studies have linked it to an increased risk of colon cancer. A 4 oz serving every now and then is fine, but leaning into plant based protein, fish, and poultry is a better, healthier option. Tfs your inspirational video! 😊 ❤ Congratulations on your weight loss!! 😊
Hi Christy👋🏼. Thank you for your input. I had not heard about that. We do eat a lot of salmon and chicken as well. Tonight I just put together a fabulous pasta less lasagna. I used my regular recipe but added some sliced zucchini and I tried those egg wraps cut into strips for the pasta. If it turns out,I’ll do a video on it.
@@Souperat60 Mmm, that sounds delicious! It's fun to get creative with classic dishes like lasagna and incorporate a healthy twist. I hope it turns out and you're able to make a video on it soon. 😊😊😊
@@Souperat60please disregard this extremely outdated and unsubstantiated statements. Please go to doctor Ken Berry and Dr. Anthony Chaffee to get the studies that refute this opinion
I would suggest not using foil to cook bacon. I believe the aluminum gets into your food. I use Dr Ken Berry’s method of cooking bacon and works every time. I use stainless steel stock pot.
I can’t speak for others, but as for me I was eating too many carbs. Pasta, breads even some veggies like potatoes. Even small amounts add up. I don’t need carbs. They hold no nutritional value. A plate full of salad and a good well sourced protein is what our plates look like now. 😌
I enjoyed the video with all the information but you offer. I am looking at how to drop some weight at 68 and another friend swears by intermitent fasting too. The cheese twists are such a cute idea too. I want to let you know that NOT ALL packaged cheeses contain "wood pulp", or cellulose as it's called as a food ingredient. I'm happy to share that TILLAMOOK CHEESE which is made here in Oregon, does not contain it! That goes with any of their cheeses making Tillamook cheese would be a good option for us. You can probably get it at your local Costco as it is sold nation wide now. Hope this helps and thanks again! ~Patty~
I live in Oregon, about two hours from the Tillamook cheese factory and it is our favorite cheese of all time. If you ever get to Oregon, you have to visit, you’ll get free samples and see how all their cheese is made! Plus there is Blue Heron French Cheese Company close to the Tillamook cheese factory which also has cheese and other delicacies.

@@Souperat60 No I do not have. I am not even sure how to make one. But I love sourdough bread! If I have a choice I will choose this bread over any other.
Debra, in order to make sourdough bread, you need to have a sourdough starter. I have been promising my subscribers for far too long on how to make one. I will do this very soon. Then you can make sourdough bread all the time. 😀you will love it. It’s a whole lot of fun.
Everything looks delicious! Thanks for sharing and the encouragement. You mentioned you don’t count calories but focus on macros. What % of each do you aim for each day?
@@plantlady65 thank you. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. The sausage was from Aldi (not the greatest quality, but it’s protein.) I have a very difficult time finding organic pork. So nice you don't have to take meds anymore. I feel I must inform you of the bioengineered enzymes most cheese is made with. Cheese made with animal rennet is the natural one, the one God provided, not vegetable rennet. Please do your own research on the subject, but since you are eating organic & grass fed, I thought you might appreciate the info. I just found out myself and am dissappointed because I enjoy cheese too. Congrats on your new success! ❤
Thanks Janet. I did hear that just recently. I find it hard to find organic cheese from grass fed cows. I wish they’d just leave the food alone. Good grief😖
Aldi has Carr brand cheese that is suppose to be with animal rennet. I have not tried it yet, but it is on my to do list. I plan to learn how to make my own cheese. Thank you for your videos.❤

Your bread looks wonderful-would you share your recipe? TFS!
I’m 73 and struggling! Just found you!!!
Lord bless, Darlene

I live in Virginia too 25 miles from Winchester
Howdy neighbor😊🇺🇸
I'm doing the same diet , your salad looks delicious.
Me too, at 64 yo and reversed my diabetes! The low carb, higher protein works! Thank you, enjoyed your video.
I love your laugh. Your simple instructions too. Thank you for the inspiration. Congratulations on your husband’s retirement and your weight loss. Dinner looks divine

You have done well on your weight loss journey!!! Thanks for inspiring me to get back on track with my weight loss journey!😊
Thank you for sharing Darlene ❤
I love your shirt! One of my favorite verses ❤
Thank you.
Just found your channel. Can’t wait to try the sourdough bread… have to make a started forst
Oh Becky I’m thrilled you are here. I’m going to be filming a sourdough starter video very very soon. I’ve promised my friends for too long so I really need to do it. You will be excited to see how easy and fun it is to do. I just love it. Welcome☺️🇺🇸

It was so good.
Delicious, Darlene!
Happy to see you’re feeling better. 😊 🤗

Give it a try and it gives you more protein Instead of sour cream that gives you let me know if you like it🤗
Hi there. Thank you. That’s a great idea!
Just found you today! I make my ranch with a packet of the ranch seasoning, cottage cheese, and milk or water to thin to the right consistency. (I avoid seed oils so this works great for me.)
Hi there and welcome. I hope you’ll subscribe 😊. I love your idea. I’ll have to try it. Thx. Darlene
You’re doing great. We try to eat 25 or less carbs a day. I have been doing this for 4 years and would not trade the weight loss or my renewed health for anything!!
I need to try harder to lower the carb count. I probably eat far less than 50 each day.
@@Souperat60 as long as you are still losing you should be good. But when your weight loss stalls you will have to lower them then.
That sounds like a great plan. Thanks Monica.
I do my steak the same but also add a pinch of Italian seasoning 😋 Looks delicious
Ooh that sounds good. Thx
Loved your video! ❤ Will be watching regularly cause I need to lose weight .
Yay! Thank you!
Oh I’m so sorry for your husband. But it sounds like you’re doing all the right things. Your stir fry sounds wonderful 😊. Lord bless, Darlene
CONGRATZ LOU!!! God bless your new season. Good health and happiness in your journey.💖🥳🥳😇
Could you do a video on your sour dough. I don’t want anything that invokes discard or feeding every day. Congratulations on your weight journey.
Good morning Terry👋🏼Six years? That’s wonderful. You must have some great recipes?🤔what’s your favorite meal to make?
I don’t use aluminum foil
Those drinks are good too. I try to watch the ingredients lists for “natural flavors”. I hear that’s not good. ???
That solar looks delicious❤
i luv those mission tortillas with peanut butter, a thin 1/4 slice Length wise( I share banana with Hubby) of bananna, chopped pecans or walnuts and cinnamon.

Thank you for subscribing. I love that verse too.

Wow! You have done amazing! I’m so inspired by you! I have Type 2 diabetes and am trying to lose weight and reverse it. I’m down one pants size and hope to keep going down. I have 110 pounds to lose. Yes I did! 😀 Thank you!
Sounds like a great plan.
I’ve been trying to do a high protein low-carb diet. I keep falling into old habits, though. I cannot keep messing up like I am.
Hi there. I hear you. I’ve messed up plenty myself many times in my life. Let’s do this together.
Congratulations Darlene for all the tips to eat healthy. I love your salad and i am very happy that you dont take medication for your A1C that is awesome. You just inspired me to eat better and exercise . Thank you so much. Blessings
@@lindavaldez9929 good morning Linda. Great hearing from you. I hope you’ll subscribe 🤗. Lord bless and see ya soon Darlene
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Souperat60please disregard this extremely outdated and unsubstantiated statements. Please go to doctor Ken Berry and Dr. Anthony Chaffee to get the studies that refute this opinion

I would suggest not using foil to cook bacon. I believe the aluminum gets into your food. I use Dr Ken Berry’s method of cooking bacon and works every time. I use stainless steel stock pot.
Thank you😊
I see so many of these videos and would like to see what these individuals were eating before. Most of it looks like I’ve always eaten.
I can’t speak for others, but as for me I was eating too many carbs. Pasta, breads even some veggies like potatoes. Even small amounts add up. I don’t need carbs. They hold no nutritional value. A plate full of salad and a good well sourced protein is what our plates look like now. 😌
That steak salad looks delicious ❤
Thanks Michele. It really was.
Wow you’re beautiful 👏🏽❤️❤️
Well thank you😁
I enjoyed the video with all the information but you offer.
~Patty~
Hi there Patty. So sweet to hear from you. Thank you for the cheese info. I will look for that brand😊. Blessings. See you next time friend.

Great video with great tips! What brand of sausage, not all are good. Also where do you get those cute bowl covers?
@@plantlady65 thank you. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. The sausage was from Aldi (not the greatest quality, but it’s protein.) I have a very difficult time finding organic pork. @@Souperat60 Thank you so much. Blessings.
