- Hello and welcome to my sewing room!
Today I'm showing you how to make my
#11 Home Town Quilt Block in 5" and also 10" size.
I am using my latest fabric collection HOME TOWN designed by me and produced and distributed by the fabulous Riley Blake Designs.
I have given you the cutting recipe for both sizes below so be sure and click until the entire description of this video is visible below.
I made blocks 1 thru 10 to go into the HOME TOWN SEW ALONG QUILT which took place on my blog.
CLICK on this link to go to my blog where the sew along still remains for the of you who would like to make the quilt!

Each tutorial I'll be showing you just one of fourteen blocks.
I'm also going to make 16 blocks of each of the 5" size to make a quilt for my bed....and I'm making the 10" blocks for a table runner.
Of course I'll show & tell you all about both the quilt and the runner!
I'm taking you along with me on this journey as I sew Home Town Blocks each time on my vintage featherweight sewing machines.
Thank you for joining me today:)
I enjoy spending time with you in my sewing room & I hope that you enjoy our time together too!!

Lori, as usual exquisite piecing. I love to watch you sew, you are one of only a few people that I will watch you sew each and every seam because they come out so perfect everytime. And I just love your fabric because like my grandma used to tell me I was born 100 years to late and so your fabric just sings to me. I would love to jump back 100+ years in time and have horses and wagons no tablets or smart phones, I think that life would be so much more honest and kind. Thanks Lori for your wonderful tutorials. Love Tracy
I just finished up block #2 for my Home Town quilt. I have really paid close attention to my sewing, seam allowance and ironing because of your tutorials and these small pieces...and guess what??? My blocks are coming out SO Much better and WAY more accurate. I don't know what took me so long. Thank you for teaching us good habits. ❤❤❤
Same for me! I am much more accurate with my piecing!
I sure appreciate you too. It’s so cool you think of it as sewing with a friend, because we do too 💕. Love all your tips and tricks. You are SOOOO generous with your time and content. All these free block recipes and you taking the time to teach us is priceless! THANK YOU 🥰🥰🥰
I love your videos and watch them all. I like to share them with my granddaughter and we watch you together. We have learned so much from you.
I love your sewing room, and wish I had the ambition like you.
Many thanks, Lori for all of your tips. It helps so much especially to those of us that did not grow up in quilting families. My family were crocheters. My Grandmother taught me to crochet since my Mom was busy with four kids. I did grow up sewing clothes which I do not do anymore. I love your channel and fabrics so much! BTW…I am loving the Fat Quarter Club that you are doing with the Fat Quarter Shop. Also thanks for the extra cutting directions for the 10-1/2 inch blocks.
Thanks for the generous friendship Lori...appreciate all you do❤❤
Thank you, Lori! Loved your tips about adjusting block sizes when they are too large or too small. BTW, when you have a second, you might want to change the recipe numbers to 11 (instead of 10) in this video's description box. Big smile!
My studio used to be above my garage, too. Sometimes when I used the remote to raise or lower my longarm table, it would also open the garage door!
You make piecing so very easy!! 💞💞
Oh, I just LOVE Millie!!! Do you have all your machines on display when you aren't using them? Or are they stored away? Maybe you could do a tour??? Thanks for your informative videos. I love all your fabrics and fun backgrounds!
Thank you so much for spending your time teaching us how to be better quilters. I have learned so much from your videos. You are an amazing and talented lady and I admire you so much.
Glad you're back Have been waiting for the video. Enjoy them so much
I LOVE the new cover; so bright and fresh!
I am enjoying using your methods. Thank you. Never too old to learn something new.
Lori thank you again for sharing these beautiful blocks. Sewing along with you I'm on block number nine.
Thank you so much for all your free bonus blocks. Love everything you do. So fun to watch. 💌
I just love watching you sew! Thank you for all the time you spend on tutorials for all of us to watch! You’re such an inspiration!
Lori, you have taught me so much, hopefully my quilting is getting better. Thank you so much, stay well, Cheryl.❤
Thank You Lori, Your blocks look Great. ❤️❤️❤️
👍🥰👍 Chris

Sooo beautiful, Lori!!! All of your blocks look just gorgeous laying there!!! Thank you so much for sharing all of your precious time and knowledge with us !! I have learned so much from watching you and appreciate you so much!!!
Wow this was a great tutorial on keeping your seams even and how to correct it if they are not. Thank you so much.
Sharon
Thank you so much for your videos. Though I have been quilting for over thirty years, I have learnt so much from you. I adore all your beautiful fabrics too.
Thank you Lori for sharing the tip if one or two sides are short! This was so helpful! ❤
Thanks, Lori & Kasidy (sp?) For continuing to create & produce these quilt blocks in very easy to understand language.
These little blocks are addictive! I need my quilt to be 95x95, so, I think I'll be doing 12 of the 14 different blocks then make 15 from the spools quilt and spri kle them throughout the quilt top.
Lori I haven’t been following u for long but I love your video and all the knowledge you impart on us. You are delightful and I too love everything vintage. I buy your fabrics all the time from Kim at Fat quarter. Looking forward to you Mercantile line is released. Thank you for all you do ❤❤
Patti Carmel
Love the fabric that covering your iron board surface. Thank you for sharing your creativity.
Hello from Qaqortoq, Greenland. I have been enjoying your videos for a few years now.. I love how pretty you make your quilts too!
We Appreciate You Lori! I am (finally) learning how to take your "method" & applying it to other patterns I am sewing by analyzing the block & sewing it Your way. It is making such a difference. Thanks!!!
Thankyou for the hint on the block that is too small.l made 3 needlecases Lori your pattern for Christmas 🎄 gifts.
What a wonderful block. It is so clever the way you put it together. Thank you for sharing it with us. Your directions are so clear, and you explain why you do each step.
I've been waiting all day for this. Love it
Thank you 🩷🩷🩷 I wish someone would do a video all about different borders & backing
Wonderful blocks. Thank you for sharing. So much fun and I love the fabrics.
Have to share… just love your vintage irons, but I am impatient…I didn’t want to search for one so I went on Amazon and found a dry iron from Japan. Ordered it and love it…but…it literally is Japanese! All the marking and written instructions are In Japanese. Luckily, It is simple and not a problem.🤷♀️…love your tutorials ❤
I love all your projects. I wish you would design duck tape that could be used to make design boards instead of trimming with fabric. I have made several using decorative duck tape, yours would be a lot prettier.
I just got my fat quarter bundle. Gorgeous fabric.
Wonderful piecing as usual. I call what you are doing controlled scrappy as while you are using many fabrics in total, each block has a limited number of fabrics. Each fabric has its own position in the block, eg. within each block the flippy corners match each other, but, do not necessarily appear in another block.
Love watching your videos. I did not see a fall market video. Do you have fabric coming out next spring/summer?
Hi Lori 🙌❤️
Lori, I am loving all your tutorials. Is there a way to purchase the pattern without the fabric? I have a large collection of 30's fabrics that would be great for this quilt.
Love this beautiful quilt. Unfortunately my 9 mm Janome machine even using the 1/4 mat eats the fabric and they are always wonky.
Have you tried using leaders and enders? They are small bits of fabric you sew on before and after sewing your blocks. They may solve your problem.
what type of adorable machines is LH using?
Lori, Is your denim blue Featherweight metallic or is it just very shiny? The person I'm having paint mine is asking me. I told her I don't think it's metallic but I thought I'd check with you.
What is the name of your fabric on your ironing broad?
