Very nice explore Owen. It always bothers me that a house like this sits empty while greedy developers get rich instead of doing what they agreed to do. Given it's age it should have been taken care of long ago, it's history. The paint peel in the upstairs hallway is nice showing so many coats of paint, the same with the wallpaper in the bedrooms.
I would absolutely restore this home. The woodwork is beautiful. I like the pink toilet, sink and ceiling fixture. Love all the windows! You do a great job - attention to detail, pleasant commentary and show a deep appreciation for the beauty and history of these old homes. I hope they restore this place. Thank you for sharing!!
I really enjoyed your tour of this home. I am fortunate to live in an older home built in the late 1800s and I can testify that stripping the woodwork is a real pain. Especially when there are layers of paint fortunately I don’t have that problem all over my house, but where they did paint there’s so many different kind of paint. Something called milk paint, latex paint, oil base paint, lead-based paint, and it creates a gooey mess. It is doable, but it’s just a lot of work maybe easier for people where it’s their profession but it’s not mine. But it’s worth it in the end.
In the 1940's, the doors had glass doorknobs.I was born in the very early sixties, and relatives homes still had original doorknobs, doors, windows. These homes held up as well as they did because no plastic and cheap flooring. Built with solid materials: wood, iron, brick, stones, and no Chinese drywall.
My grandparents house has glass door knobs except for the bathroom and the basement door. Before it was turned into a house in the early 1920's (before my grandpa bought the house) it was a bar. So much history on that property. A new home owner bought my grandparents house now that they have passed on.😓
I concur ❤,if I could I would definitely restore that house 🏡 to spectacular beauty 😍 with a banging garden/landscape. Gazebo patio with pot. A refuge of serenity 🌺🌹
Looks like Dr. Webb farm house. If I recall name correctly. He was shunned in area for admitting being Agnostic in a strong Presbyterian & Anglican community. He was buried in unconsecrated ground for being Agnostic. Eventually he was moved to Hamilton Cemetary across from Dunduen Castle. He was American.
Merry Christmas! What a beautiful house, and in such good condition, too! I would definitely restore that one. It really doesn't need much because the structure is still sound and square. It really only needs mostly cosmetic work, with the exception of a few glass panes and some plaster work. 12:00 crystal doorknobs go way back to the early 1800s, so it could be original.
Yeah, these animals COULDN'T CARE LESS about someone else's property!!!! Makes you wonder who or what raised them?! If I had the money, yes, I'd restore it!!!! Merry Christmas Urbex!!!!
The thumb latch hardware is original. The rim latches (boxes mounted to door) would have been an update at some later point. The spindles are a relatively easy fix. Thankfully they spared the bannister.
the glass door knob is american 1920- 40's the ceramic one is english made bennington the doors look like old growth clear pine. do not use chemical stripper media blasting is finely crushed walnut / nut shells... not toxic. a lathe worker can reproduce spindles if accuracy is important. thanks for sharing. roger
i thankyou for sharing this video i would restore this house because i really love old houses i live in a house dated back in 1893 and i love the house i live in. and i gave you a thumbs up and shared you out on my community tab my frioend and God Bless.
Lovely home. I hope they don’t just let that house set until it’s”well, it’s too far gone to restore so let’s tear it down”. That’s a beauty!! My guess is the graffiti came after the wallpaper peeled off the walls. And absolutely restore it!
Definitely reatore! Neat old yellow table, stool and chair in the basement. Makes me mad about the staircase as well. No need for it! Love the old doors and wide floor boards! Really love those old windows! Really enjoyed the tour ❤ Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Such a shame that’s been let go to that condition! It could be restored into a very beautiful house, although sadly the reality is that it’s probably going to be bowled over if the developers are anything to go by. Great explore as always Owen.Keep up your great work man!

You know they had some fine and warm Christmas Days in that old home

Thanks for sharing, it's interesting to see how the houses were built back then.

His Christian neighbors sounded like really nice people....
Hold grudges after death, very forgiving
Merry Christmas!

Glass door handles are actually lead crystal from the very early 1900s
I saw a few still left in old houses when I was a kid and the big square lock panels that used long metal keys
The old stuff is the best

Yes that would be awesome 😎💯 to restore a hard working farm family

Could be a nice place at least it's not destroyed inside just going to be a lot of scraping and painting and big cleanup outside.
Definitely reatore! Neat old yellow table, stool and chair in the basement.

Thanks! It was a beautiful house, a real shame to see it in such condition.
Restored, Yes, Yes........
Should always wear respirator mask for protection going to abonded houses .breathing in dust, mold, or gas ,isn't good for your respiratory system.
10:25 The style of the paint on the steps is Pennsylvania Dutch. Or is that carpet?
Interesting, I believe it’s carpet.
GF and I are looking at Hamilton homes. This is nice!!!! Not even joking Hamilton this'd be pricey. This country got sooo fucked up. Merry Xmas!
Restore
It needs a MATCH
